This Year's Model Updates:

The Sequoia is virtually unchanged for 2002. SR5 models have two additional stand-alone options this year: keyless remote and front foglamps.

Pros:
  • Ultra-refined drivetrain, surprisingly agile handling, versatile and comfortable interior, impeccable build quality.
Cons:
  • Non-descript styling, comparably low towing capacity.

  • Would Buy Again - 2002 Toyota Sequoia

Great Truck. Mileage is not a good as we like (~16 to 17) but as big as the vehicle is, reasonable. Has plenty of power and features. Blind spot is large, suggest adding supplemental mirror to both sides. Interior tends to scratch easily. Leather captain chairs are very comfortable. Handles well with good forward visibility. Ride can be stiff on bumpy roads (again this is a truck)

  • Smooth ride! Watch your wallet. - 2002 Toyota Sequoia

i bought my seq used it was a 2002 sr5 with all bells! My only concern is the brakes. I have had to replace pads twice in one year and rotors once. I do drive quiet a bit. I bought the car with 23k it has 63K in a little over a year. But the car is a joy to drive, very smooth, like the lexus. Had to replace battery, I left on the lights, tires, and brakes.. The car is defint reliable. I would def by another. But only used. The gas will murder your wallet. At aound 3.00 a gallon, youre looking at 85.00 to fill. Brakes run about 200-400, tires are 500.00. So we are buying a smaller car for commuting purposes. The SUV will be for trips and weekends only.

  • Very Big SUV - 2002 Toyota Sequoia

I lost room going from an Aerostar AWD extended van, but I gained ground clearance and an extra seat. I canoe in Maine and need the ground clearance that the van could not deliver for the logging roads. One problem is that the truck is so high that I have troble loading a canoe on the useless roof rack. I will buy a canoe trailer! 4WD and traction control are OK in snow, but the skid control doesnt do much. This is a HIGH vehicle and the running boards help greatly getting in.

  • A must for a family - 2002 Toyota Sequoia

  • Sequoia is Best in Class! - 2002 Toyota Sequoia

After comparing and test driving Sequoia, Tahoe/Yukon, Expedition we decided that the Sequoia was best for us. This vehicle drives like a limosine on the highway and is much quieter than its domestic counterparts. It also has significantly more room behind the 3rd seat which is great for storage/luggage. Great 2nd seat leg room. More expensive that similarly equipped competitor models but I was willing to pay for Toyota reliability/quality. Also resale value is very high. There are many reasons why this vehicle heads up the editors and consumers most wanted lists for SUVs.

  • Nice SUV, bad in gas - 2002 Toyota Sequoia

Cargo area is great, performance is great, very comfortable. Only complaint is that 14 mpg, not even close. Youll get 14 mpg driving 15% on the city and the rest highway. City driving you ll be lucky if you get 12 mpg.

  • Good Quality Truck, so so Mileage - 2002 Toyota Sequoia
    By -

Purchased in 5/02. Build quality has been superb. In three years here is what has been replaced (except for maintenance items): Oil Pressure Gauge, Security Transmitters, and Brake Rotors--all by Warranty. Front Ball joints replaced under recall. Truck has been very solid. Good travel truck for a family. Interior has a tendancy to scratch and show scuffs. MPG is not as good as I like (~ 15) but considering the size and weight it is inline. Original tires were poor (Dunlop) replaced with Michelin cross terrain and are much improved! Blind spot is quite large and recommend small mirror additions to address. Would purchase again if gas prices had not jumped so much. Great vehicle!

Boy, I was debating wether to buy the Sequoia or a Tahoe. Im real happy I made the right choice. Going back, I dont know how I even considered a Tahoe over this one!

  • Great Vechile - 2002 Toyota Sequoia

Purchased to replace a Ford windstar that could not handle are growing family and pulling our tent trailer. Does everything well. Quiet and powerful. Was considering the Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer/Expedition and Chevrolet Tahoe. After many test drives and much research I purchased the Sequoia. We are very happy. This will not leave are family for a long time.

  • time will tell - 2002 Toyota Sequoia

Ive got approximately 4000 miles on the truck now. The dealership replaced the water pump under warranty when I took it in for an oil change. The ride is nice but I knew that from test driving other 4x4s before the purchase. I also like the Sequoias exterior looks and overall build quality. The water pump, well, time will tell me if it lives up to Toyotas typical build quality ......
