  • 4th sub - upholstery quality ba humbug - 2010 Subaru Outback

Upholstery - fabric fit and finish leaves something to be desired. 2002 legacy outback wagon was better at trade in than this is new. Loose fitting in one area "bunch" up in several areas. Mileage is good. Seats firm and comfortable. Rides well. CVT takes some getting used to - at times its seems like its not "c". Paddle shifting a fun to try. Visibility very good.

  • New to Subaru - Great so far! - 2010 Subaru Outback

I replaced a 1999 F150 with a V8 with a 2010 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium. The fuel mileage is as advertised. 29.5 on a trip to Atlanta. Bought the car in Oct 09. Have about 5K miles on it. The 4 cylinder for the weight of the car performs better than my V8 truck did. There isnt much road noise. I do have engine noise at passing speeds. The car is quiet the rest of the time. The CVT works quite well. The steering took a little getting used to. I do not have any problems pulling out in front of i40 65 mph traffic here in NC. For those concerned, buy the 6. No regrets here

  • The "go anywhere, do everything vehicle" - 2010 Subaru Outback

Our 2010 Outback is our 4th Subaru over 20 years. This model is much larger, roomier, quieter and nicer than previous versions! We have the 4 cyl with CVT, currently with 3400 miles. Mileage is 26-28 in town, over 30 hwy! Power is quite adequate and handling great. Ride is fantastic (beats any other venders Ive experienced). Many nice creature comforts, including audio, puddle lights, bluetooth, heated seats and easy to locate/use controls on steering wheel. Overall this is the best Subaru Outback ever produced and I highly recommend it to anyone. A great vehicle for all driving and road conditions!

  • Need some improvement to be fun to drive - 2010 Subaru Outback
    By -

I drive mostly city, but took one road trip to CO. Car needs some power especially when trying to pass vehicles on hwy. I like the comfort of the car and the features (can be pricey if you add few). It needs a bit of power kick to be "Fun to Drive" and to eliminate some of the road noise. In Midwest performs OK in the city, but with 2.5i not so great on mountains of CO. CVT is a good concept but will need some work to be done to use with bigger engines. This is a large vehicle that need power to do what it should be. Interior is nice, exterior did some improvements, could be done better but better than last year.

Just recently handed over my 97 Legacy GT Wagon over to the kid. Except for a scratch or two that baby was pristine. So going to an Outback, especially the new body was a big change at first. The car felt "huge" to me. But now after driving it for the last two months Im really loving feel of luxury in and out. Though I dont feel it handles quite as good as my Legacy (being its lower center of gravity), but I havent really taken it on a Mountain trip yet. Im really enjoying the comfortable ride and how you dont feel the gear change and really digging those heated seats! And being a bit higher in the car is a nice advantage in the world of all SUVs these days.

  • Great Car. Worth the price. - 2010 Subaru Outback

We bought in late fall. Handles great, rides good. Can be tricky getting into reverse & other gears. Layout of controls is very well planned out & easy to adjust for all drivers. We live in the North East and this is the 2nd one we own. It handles the dirt roads in Massachusetts as well as it handles the highway.

  • Love it - but recalls adding up - 2010 Subaru Outback
    By -

I bought my first Subaru after a long search. Chose it over a CR-V, primarily for handling - the Subaru is very solid. I love the AWD - it saved my life this winter during a very difficult snowstorm. In my previous car (a Toyota Camry) I would have been off the road. I love the spaciousness of the interior - a big factor in my purchase decision. The rear seats fold down in a second, and leave lots of flat room, unlike the CR-V. The gas mileage has been fantastic - at worst 28, at best 32 mpg. The recalls are a big issue - my dealership is an hour away - that adds up to many added miles on my new, not-exactly inexpensive car! Wait for the 2011 - let them fix the recall issues.

  • Still glad I sold it - 2010 Subaru Outback

I had this car for exactly one year. Special ordered and purchase in Nov. 2009 and sold Nov. 2010. I am still seeing reviews noting the same deficiancies I left in my March 2010. review. I went on to purchase a 2011 Honda CRV. Still not the best, but it doesnt have ANY handling issues and comes with same crappy Continental tires. It has a better throttle response and the car is secure when entering and exiting tight exit ramps. The sound system is a trillion times better than the Harmon Kardon. I see many of these on the road and wonder if the owner has regretted their purchase.

  • Best bang for the buck - 2010 Subaru Outback

We have had the car for three months and 3000 miles. Very happy with it. Also have a Lexus RX350; the Subaru is more comfortable and almost as quiet. Steering is a little numb, but comfort negates that. I love the CVT, my last Subaru would continually upshift and downshift on grades- that is obviously cured. Mileage excellent for a car this big. Subaru should have cars satellite radio ready from factory as opposed to $400 purchase-install from dealer. AM radio reception ridiculously poor.

  • Subaru Outback -Quality Control Issue - 2010 Subaru Outback

I took delivery with only 3 miles on the vehicle and noticed a steering vibration. My dealer encouraged me to take delivery since the tires probably needed to be broken in. Anyways, the steering vibration is worse, and to date, nobody has the solution. It forces you to use 2 hands on the wheel at all times to ensure adequate control of the vehicle. This has been reported to SOA. Now I wait to hear what is the solution. Based on internet research, this is a common problem with several new outbacks. I have less than 1,000 miles on the vehicle to date. On the positive side, this model is a great improvement in the quality of interior finish including seat comfort and extra space from the 2008
