  • Very Happy - 2010 Subaru Outback

Purchased Limited 3.6 new, have driven 5950 miles, 19.5 mpg in town, 28 mpg highway, very quite even on the highway, Great SUV, would purchase again.

  • Great car for long trips - 2010 Subaru Outback
    By -

Got it in Nov, 09. Now reported after long trip to New Orleans (360 miles each way). Very good long trip car. Easy to drive, stable handling in bad weather, roomy and seats are very comfortable. 30 mpg on freeway. Best is when hotel valet praised it over Lexus RX350 (Ha Ha, I traded my RX for the Suby)! So, if you are considering an Outback, dont wait!

  • Cant use Yakima or Thule - 2010 Subaru Outback
    By -

What was Subaru thinking? If using a Yakima or Thule rack system the bars can only be placed 21 inches apart with Subarus 2010 new rack system. This makes the rack useless to true outdoors people. Forget placing a sea kayak, a canoe or anything longer than a small whitewater kayak (a play boat) on the rack. What a waste of an otherwise quality car!

  • 3000 miles and still liking it - 2010 Subaru Outback

Wife and I returned to Subaru after we decided to replace our 01 Legacy GT Sedan. The OB 2.5i with CVT does a very nice job regarding comfort ability and mileage. Regarding handling? If I compare it to our old land cruiser its fantastic! If I compare the handling to our old Legacy GT its terrible. The OB is a very good handling SUV and a very marginal handling car as to be expected with the SUV ride height and ability. Rear seat is king when it comes to big kids car seats and comfort etc. The CVT took some getting use to but it does a fantastic job keeping to the power band. Subaru needs to build a turbo and non turbo Legacy GT wagon! Not everyone will find the SUV/Car performance likable.

  • Want to Love it, but I can not - 2010 Subaru Outback

The car is way underpowered, which makes driving very frustrating. Also when I take my foot of the accelerator at higher speeds the whole car has sudden jerk, very strange and uncomfortable. The button for hazard lights is next to shifter so I accidentally always hit this. On a positive side I get decent gas millage around 23, but this is expected from 4 cyl engine. Car is big inside with comfy seats. No towing capability. This is realistic rating trust me.

  • Great family adventure mobile - 2010 Subaru Outback

We were on the waiting list. This is a great car. We needed to balance fuel economy, AWD, rear leg room, affordability, reliability, and storage space. The Subaru 2010 outback fit the bill.

  • Frozen feet - 2010 Subaru Outback
    By -

This is our third Subaru and weve loved our 2001 Outback. The most disappointing feature of out 2010 is that the heater does not blow heat onto ones feet even when set to floor alone. When the fan is turned up the noise is deafening and still no heat on feet. We took it in for servicing as we just assumed it must be some blockage or disconnection from shipping. We were told this is "normal". This seems ridiculous as this model touted as being perfect for snowy climes. Should be sold with complimentary boxes of toe warmers! Whats up with stationary outside mirrors. Liked the break-aways on older models lots better! Wish speedometer was more precise- only 10mph increments and 20 mph digits.

  • Great Value so far - 2010 Subaru Outback

Have owned this car about 1 month. Have taken a 2600 trip with no problems. Great car, averaged 31.8 mpg @ 70 miles per hour. For the price of this car, assuming it holds up the way other Subarus do, is a great value. Well built and very tight.

  • Good Car - No Regrets - Highly Recommend - 2010 Subaru Outback

We waited for the manual transmission models to come out so we could save $$. 6MT is good but not great. Clutch take up is a little harsh and its taken a while to get used to. 2.5 engine is adequate even with Nor Cal hills. It can go up freeway hills at 65+ but in 5th gear rather than 6th. The engine does not like to rev beyond 4,500 rpm but it has good torque. Ride is firm but not jarring. Much better sized interior than old model. Im 61" and I can comfortably sit "behind myself". Additional width provides good shoulder room. Upgraded HK radio is good, not great. FM reception is poor. My 10 yr old Acura has better FM reception. Heated seats cycle on/off rather than stay on. FYI, standard Thule and Yakima bike trays wont fit the factory cross bars. Yakima sells one that will.

  • Luv this car! - 2010 Subaru Outback

This is my first Subaru. Love it! CVT transmission takes some getting used to. Car is bank vault quiet on the highway. Excellent on slick roads. Put just under 4000 miles on it on a trip to Texas in April. Twice during the trip got 500 miles on a tank of gas and that was with 3 adults and all our luggage and a large cooler. Can hardly wait to take it to Vegas this fall! I like that the car sets up a little higher than a sedan, makes it alot easier to get in and out. The only thing I have a complaint about is the drivers seat. It could be a little wider. The bolstering on the seat bottom and the back is a little tight. All in all very happy and I hope to be driving this car for many years.
