Pros:
  • Spacious interior, crossover-besting cargo space, comfortable ride, simple controls on lower trims, commendable off-road performance for a wagon.
Cons:
  • Lacks agility, numb-on-center steering, awkward styling.

Traded up from my 02 Outback Sport. Great room for the family including a 6ft tall son in the back. Love the 6 speed manual, especially with the short throw shifter installed. Average city/highway is ~24 mpg (about the same as my smaller outback sport). Very quiet and the lumbar support is great. Looking forward to the next 100,000 miles

Progress has been made. Still under powered but the cvt, hill brake, comfort added, mileage increased, interior enlargement all add up to a outstanding drive. This car is a great snow eater. There is no other car on the road that can compare. It tows well. In the past ten years Ive had six subarus, all various models. This is the best. On the road, mileage at 60/32, 70/30/31, and in the city 22.

I purchased 2.5i Limited CVT w/Wheel Arch Moldings! So far after over 500 miles, Im getting a little over 28 mpg mixed highway/city driving. Im surprised at the gas mileage. Vehicle drives smooth and is fun to drive. I think Im in LUB! However, Every now and then I do hear this weird sound that sounds like a buzzing sound. Not sure what that is yet. I got a Silver one with the black Wheel Arch moldings. I highly recommend the Arch moldings because they give the vehicle a more bold appearance. I chose this vehicle over the following: Honda Pilot, Honda Crosstour, Toyota Highlander, BMW X3, Acura RDX, Volvo XC60, Audi A3, Chevy Equinox, GMC Terrain. I think I have test driven everything!

Over all, the vehicle is awesome. Had some issues with rattle in roof liner up near the sunroof, front passenger door. Dealer fixed. Another issue now surfaced after the custom installed the ambient light package, now the switch for the vent on the passenger side is stuck in the open position. They also put watered down wiper fluid in the wiper fluid tank during the last oil change. Drove to upstate NY where the washer jets froze up. Had to go to the store and buy real wiper fluid that doesnt freeze, then let the car engine warm up the frozen lines. Other than that, no other issues.

We just purchased our first Subaru for my wife. Neither of us had owned or driven one before. Wow, was I impressed. I figured it would be a typical Japanese tin can with no power. This car is all business and yet refined. Fantastic engine, plenty of head and leg room (Im 63). Smooth endless power on tap. Nice layout of the interior controls. Absolutely an outstanding car.

Enjoying the new roominess of the larger 2010. Getting very good mileage for this size car, averaging 29-30 every tank. Handling is a little stiff for a brand and model that has been around a while.

  • Great, little things need to be fixed - 2010 Subaru Outback

We had a steering shimmy at 60+mph, but was fixed with dealer changing wheels/tires upon pick-up. Great all around car, but for a "Premium" trim that costs about $28000, missing too many little details. My Scion($18000) has one-touch auto up/down windows at ALL windows, the Subaru only has the drivers side. For an "outdoors" car, the door cup holders should hold a Nalgene Bottle. Throttle response in Reverse is horrible. Great off road, great seats, awesome amount of space in second row and rear cargo area. Folding cross-members are an excellent idea. the front seats are comfortable and seat heaters are quick to heat. Driving for MPG, I can get around 30-33 highway/city mix!

Bought the new style Outback as a company vehicle after having owned 4 GL wagons over the years. What brought me back was the increase in size and just "feeling at home" when I sat in one again. I had been looking at everything from another Acura to a Venza to a Mazda to a Lexus. I dont know. It just felt right. I drove many of the models and finally decided on the 2.5 Limited. The only disappointment is my gas mileage. I have made several trips of 300 to 700 miles and have averaged anywhere from 22.5 (ave. 75-80mph) on the low side to a best of 26.5 (70-75mph). Maybe due to AWD but on my 265hp 2005 Acura TL I get 24 in city and 29-31 on hwy.

Have had car for a little over a month, been through 1 blizzard already and roughing one right now in Wyoming. Came to work this morning over drifted roads and very little visibility. This car made it fine. One drift made the car jump but it never felt like I was losing control. I would highly recommend this car to anyone who does a lot of driving in winter conditions with snow, ice, drifts, mud, etc.
