Overview & Reviews
The 2002 Nissan Pathfinder receives only minor refinements. These include a new front grille, steering wheel and a revised audio system with new faceplate and faster functioning in-dash six-disc CD changer. The SE trim, now the base Pathfinder since the XE has been dropped, features a new titanium-accented step rail and roof rack with integrated air dam, body-color bumpers and fender flares, new 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and new seat cloth. Not to be outdone, the luxurious LE has 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels as standard equipment this year.
- Powerful V6 engine, car-like interior, solid reliability record, rear entertainment system option, available Infiniti All-Mode 4WD on LE models.
- Tight rear accommodations, high price tag, hard-to-fold rear seats.

great 2nd car..Love it! - 2002 Nissan Pathfinder
By jeadie - July 27 - 11:56 pmI bought my 2002 Pathfinder on a whim 2 years ago when I had my Mercedes in for service. Other than the questionable gas mileage, the car is perfect. Very reliable, comfortable and plenty of power for my needs. I loved the way it looked and the amenities are awesome for car of its age. I only paid $9k for it with 72k miles and it was and is in excellent condition. Although we will keep primary cars which get better mileage, I plan to keep the Pathfinder in my fleet for as long as it will have me. So far, so good.

Pathfinders great except for fuel cost - 2002 Nissan Pathfinder
By Paige Young - July 24 - 11:26 amThe Pathfinder is sporty yet classy. It has quick acceleration, is easy to manuever, has great visability, comfort, style, reliability, is not too big, yet can carry a lot of cargo, and is fun to drive. Two cons only: I only get 17 miles per gallon in the city, and the CD player, which has been replaced once by Nissan, is very finicky. Other than that....it is an AWESOME vehicle.

what a blast! - 2002 Nissan Pathfinder
By MD mudpup - May 4 - 2:00 amBought a superblack se 4wd w/options: s94, l92, f95 & go5. Paid $210 over CR wholesale price, $1200 under invoice. Took the $1k cash back. Test-drove the envoy, trailblazer, 4 runner, montero... Envoy nice if you like driving a couch, trailblazer piece of @#*!. the rest were nice. If you want performance buy a pathfinder. Torque you got it! Pounces off the line. DOHC v-6 can definitely get it out of its own way. Engine braking great. Rides nice (its a suv, its going to lean a little bit in a turn, buy a porsche if you want handling). im 65" 280 and i fit nice. do yourself a favor and test drive them all and make your choice. i did and picked the pathfinder - what a blast!

good car! - 2002 Nissan Pathfinder
By vananali - March 12 - 10:00 amExellent SUV choice. Good power, nice, if dated ergonomics, pure exterior design, nice leather. Very quiet interior at highway speeds. Everything about this rig instills quality, solid feel. My only complaint is the numb, no feel steering - my wifes 2001Mazda Tribute, although not nearly as refined-feeling as the Pathfinder, is much more fun to drive. That car has also excellent power (200 hp), which it uses well since the Mazda is substantially lighter. I think they are equal off the line, seat-of- the-pants assesment. Anyway, the Pathfinder is roomier than Toyota 4-Runner and probably the best value for the $$$. Go try one, you will like it.

Pathy or Pilot? - 2002 Nissan Pathfinder
By David Lei - December 23 - 10:00 amFor new SUV buyers, you probably are thinking Honda Pilot coming out in 06/02. Well, I do love Honda (I have a civic), but I think Pathy will be my choice even I seldom go-off road. Pathy has better balance of everything for a SUV comparing to Pilot. I dont have any problems for 37,000 miles now. Great SUV for its below 30K price. Im a faculty member in mechanical engineering.
