This Year's Model Updates:

The 2002 Nissan Pathfinder receives only minor refinements. These include a new front grille, steering wheel and a revised audio system with new faceplate and faster functioning in-dash six-disc CD changer. The SE trim, now the base Pathfinder since the XE has been dropped, features a new titanium-accented step rail and roof rack with integrated air dam, body-color bumpers and fender flares, new 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and new seat cloth. Not to be outdone, the luxurious LE has 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels as standard equipment this year.

Pros:
  • Powerful V6 engine, car-like interior, solid reliability record, rear entertainment system option, available Infiniti All-Mode 4WD on LE models.
Cons:
  • Tight rear accommodations, high price tag, hard-to-fold rear seats.

  • More than I expected - 2002 Nissan Pathfinder

I originally wanted an SE with leather, sunroof, and CD...but my wife wanted the entertainment package for the kids...so I asked the dealer to locate a truck for me...He had in stock the LE with all the extras I wanted, and the navigation system, which I did not want. I researched all the internet sites, including Edmunds and arrived at an invoice price of just over $34,700. I started the negotating of the truck at $32,600.00, because I didnt want the navigation in the truck so I decided split the cost with him on the navigation, because you dont get something for nothing and it was already there. I picked up the truck for $32,200.00

Engine performance and quality comfort ride. Good edition spare tires located underneath provides good handling, powerful efficient torque. Smooth ride and easy to handle, whether off and on the road. A fighter for the Japanese engine makers with sytlish audio of the American fervor. A better tandem deal with the 4 Runners.

The 2002 LE 4WD is my 5th pathfinder (1993,1995,1997,2001,2002).I have had it for 3 years now and I will have it until it dies. My first four pathfinders were XE 2WD models and I splurged on this one and learned a big lesson. You can easily find a 2 year old model and save yourself about $20K and have a very very very great truck. Then engine is strong and the Auto 4WD with limited slip is extremely able to get you through the snow/ice/rain/sand etc etc. I have pulled 4000 lbs with this car cross country and I have taken this off road. I have only experienced two problems, cracked joints on the exhaust pipes and BOSE 6CD head unit replaced under warranty.

  • Is an OK SUV, will not buy again. - 2002 Nissan Pathfinder

The SUV looks good on the outside, the inside like its build cheap. Muffler or resonator needed work after 4 years at a cost of $850, which was ridiculous. Mileage is very lousy at 16 mpg city, 17.5 highway. I will definitely not buy again!

  • This truck ROCKS - 2002 Nissan Pathfinder

Ive had mine since January. I love it and it drives like a sports car. I only have 3 minor and 1 major complaints. Ive had 50W stereos that sound better than the 500W Bose. There just doesnt seem like there is that much "elbow room" for the driver. The back cupholder needs to be moved forward (if you put a tall cup in there it will not sit straight due to the elbow rest). But the worst is the cheesy lettering on the luggage rack. These plastic letters started coming off immediately after I bought it.

Just bought a new Pathfinder LE 4wd with black leather, hitch, and bike rack. I love this vehicle. It has a smooth drive and is very comfortable. I was also looking at the Highlander, but decided that I could get more fun from the pathfinder for less $$ (6-disc in dash, bose sound, more towing capacity, and the ability to kick in 4WD h/l). i couldnt be happier and got the PF for 700 less than invoice! Cant wait to drive it more!

  • great suv, but.... - 2002 Nissan Pathfinder

This has been a great vehicle so far. Gas mileage is terrible though. I got the fully loaded suv with the navigation system, and entertainment system. The bose sound system in this model w/ the navigation is weak. The entertainment is neat though. overall a good vehicle. Power is great, and it will keep up with or beat mustangs w/ v6s.

This is a great SUV. Unlike some of its counterparts, you can this truck loaded out, i.e. heated front seats and mirrors, memory seats, in-dash 6 disc changer, etc. The only problem I have with it so far is the gas mileage..it does not get 15/18. Its more like an average of 10 to 12 miles per gallon!

  • Beat a path to this LE! - 2002 Nissan Pathfinder

Excellent vehicle. Only have 1,000 miles on it, but the build quality, ride, and handling are just great. Got it for $500 below invoice and 4.2% lease interest rate for 39 months. Were coming from 9 years of Grand Cherokee V8s, so I have to admit that I miss the power a bit, but its all right. I recommend premium gas for more punch and better mileage, but it runs fine on regular. If youve owned Nissans (this is our 4th, plus many test drives), you know they have a certain feel or personality that is not as plain vanilla as Toyota and Honda. This is true of the Pathfinder LE too. Fine vehicle.
