This is my first Mazda experience and so far so good. I think I got an excellent deal on the car. I originally wanted the Sport package, but the $2k manufacturer rebate didnt apply. What I ended up getting was an S w/performance package + spoiler and had the dealer install 17" factory wheels. With the exception of the leather interior its very hard to tell the difference and all for just under $20k! I agree with several of the other reviews: love the exterior look and the handling is great! Excessive brake dust - they must have used organic pads, when they have to be replaced w/metallic I wonder if they will squeek? Hate the low end torque!

I bought my Mazda 6 used and it was perfect... At first.. The first problem was the cd player. Only likes select cds and ruined every cd I put in it. Another problem I experienced was the interior. I dont know what kind of fabric it is but water.. Stained! Impossible to clean then it felt like my transmission started slipping but couldnt pin point it because it didnt do it all the time. Went from that to check engine light staying on to the wiring system being messed up to getting stuck in 3rd gear to stalling out. This is all in 3 years. I loved my car at first but now I will never get a Mazda again..!

  • Its still a great car. - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

I bought the V6 when it first came out. I loved the styling of the car, especially compared to the Camry & Accord. It handles much better than those two as well, tighter, stiffer. I think its looks are holding up very well. Yes, there were a few teething problems with it. Squeaking/knocking noise when turning slowly at full lock(lower control arm issues). Rattle that comes & goes from the headliner. The very annoying shifting issues from 1st-2nd, 2nd-3rd(this was a defective throttle body problem that cost me $600 last year).

I bought my Mazda6 used in March of 2006. It is an 03 i model with 32000 miles. It came with leather, Bose audio, moonroof and lots of other options. So far I have had no reliability issues and I really enjoy driving the car. The dealership where I purchased my car was also very helpful any time Ive needed to ask questions or it has been time for service.

  • QUITE SATISFIED - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

Ordered a silver6 in Jan with the V6 5sp auto and sport pkg but it came with 5 sp manual so I took a gray one. There is nothing I dont like about this my first Japanese/American car. Its comfortable, smooth, quiet, very well built and I love the features such as sports pkg, headlights, chrome exhaust tips, red dash lighting, heated seats, rear seat latches, console. Great exterior and interior styling, materials and fit and finish. Hope this satisfaction lasts for the next 10 years. It draws a lot of looks in steel gray especially with the 2 narrow pinstripes I had installed down both sides and around the back.

Purchased the vehicle in July of 06 with just over 18,000 miles and was as happy as could be for the first year or so. The second year on the other hand was not so good, I felt as tho I was taking the car in once a month for something different it started with a squeaky driver seat then some recalls then some weird clunks then a defective starter and several other things. Once everything was fixed things were okay until the car reached 58,000 miles and decided that it would be a good time to blow up! According to the mechanics the piston rod snapped and blew two holes in the block. The worst part is I was doing about seventy on the freeway not even accelerating. $9000 later the car is running ok

  • Nice, but quality??? - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

Love the car! However, Im actually quite annoyed by the lack of quality. The dash rattles, my fan broke and was replaced by Mazda, there is a rotten egg smell, and my front sunshade is loose. In all honesty, Mazda has a potential winner here, but how can they succeed without the quality? I really like the car, but one should not have to deal with these problems associated with a new car. My fault for buying the first year...

  • Time to Start Worrying? - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

Just replaced the starter today, at 30K miles. Strange "whirring" sound after cranking was my tipoff that something was amiss. Luckily, I havent had any of the brake problems encountered by many on this site. My other big concern since owning this car has been intermittent problems with hesitation upon releasing the clutch, especially into second gear, when turning a corner. It seems like either my clutch is slipping, or my power is dropping precipitously. And of course, the dealer can never re-enact it when they have it (tends to be worse when the car is cold).
