  • Nice Car at a Fair Price - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

I bought this car for my wife and I find myself "borrowing" it often. The car has great styling that are agressive but too agressive. You get a lot of nice things for the price, For example really look great and light up the road well. The interior and features are nice as well. The steering wheel Audio controls the "quasi-manual" transmission are great features. The rear seats can be folded down from inside the truck. Things that annoy me: Creaks from the suspension when you go over rough roads or speed bumps. Things that annoy me: Creaks from the suspension when you go over rough roads or speed bumps. The truck release is nowhere near the fuel door release. Engine is peppy, needs more HP!

Here are the cars that remind me of my Mazda 6i and the reasons why. The steering and handling are the closest to that of the 1992 thru 98, BMW 3 series of any car on the market! The suspension tuning makes the car ride just like an S40 Volvo, (small penalty for the razor sharp handling!). The interior looks a lot like a Honda Civic Si after puberty and the outside possesses a subtle earthy Mustang GT quality. Handsome, fast, comfortable, with handling prowess that exceeds anything in its class and then some! The best of many cars in one!

Several recalls which is normal for a new model. Had 13,000 miles on car and smoke started coming from exhaust pipes upon start up. Smelled like transmission was burning up. Been back to the dealer 5 times. First I was told I may have picked up plastic bag. Dealer cant find problem. It now developed coolant leak and Mazda suggested they replace radiator. Smoking occurs every 5 to 6 weeks and only once on initial start up. Anyone have a problem like this?

  • My Junk 6 - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

Well, my problems began at around 900 miles. First it was the brakes. Ended up they had to be replaced at 7000 miles. Next the paint began coming off of the black strips running up the doors. Then, my transmission was leaking. Next, the back passenger speaker works only when volume is turned way up. I tried numerous times to get these problems worked out where I purchased, they never could "duplicate the problem." Finally went to another dealership. Some problems have been fixed and some havent. Brakes are making a popping noise, car is surging, interior lights flicker, and car has been at dealer since Feb. 27. Theres always a problem. I have contacted a lemon lawyer and they took my case.

  • My Mazda experience. - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

Fun to drive, love the way it looks. But.... all of the rotors were warped at 11,000 miles. Dealer turned them but now it squeals when the brakes are applied. (No, I dont beat on it!) Not happy with the auto climate control in the summer. You have to put it on 78 or else the fan runs on high speed all of the time! The automatic transmission sometimes seems to clunk into gear. Not always, so it wont be easy to find out why, as Im sure it wouldnt do it when its in for service. Transmission also has a gear whine. Great dealer experience.

  • Safety Problem- Check! - 2003 Mazda Mazda6
    By -

I have a major safety defect and Id encourage everyone to check for this: No ignition lock system. I can leave the car in drive and remove the key. Mine rolled due to this and nearly took off the back driver-side door. Mazda manufacturing says they wont pay for the damages because its not a "known defect." Anyway- check for this, as its a VERY dangerous defect. Were all used to an ignition lock system that forces you to put the car in park before removing the key. My son could have been seriously injured.

  • THE 6 REALLY ROCKS - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

THE MAZDA 6S HANDLES VERY WELL. EVEN THOUGHT THE TORQUE IS LOW END IT STILL GETS UP AND MAKES DRIVING IT EXTREMELY FUN. THE LOOK AND THE INTERIOR DESIGN DEFINITELY GORGEOUS. THERE ISNT A BETTER CAR FOR UNDER 25000. IN MY OPINION.

  • Cant Beat a Mazda - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

Holds up to the roughest of treatments and keeps on going. I drive in incredibly difficult traffic situations when timing and skill are important. Hit the gas and it goes. Stops on a dime in all kinds of weather. Repair costs are minimal and the dealerships are impeccable. Cars are a necessary evil for me. Mazda is low cost and low maintenance kicks but when you hit the gas. Ive owned the Mazda Protege orginally and now the Mazda6 have never been disappointed. The Protege went 178,000 miles before I sold it and I expect this one to go as far! BTW, the only major repair on the Protege in 178k mi was the exhaust pipe. Wahoo!

With the double wishbone tuned suspension It feels very nimble. This car gets driven in tiptronic. On the high way the 6s shines pulling away from any car.Doing 65 in 5th gear then switching down to fourth gives you what i call passing power. This is no normal clutch. It allows you to drive in manual or automatic w/o the H or clutch. The one thing i dont like is you always have to have the engine revving to get performance. Under the hood is a 3.0 liter v6 w/ varible valve timing pushing out 220hp at 196 pound ft of torqe. My son like to switch the gears for me because its that easy. Mazda hit the jackpot with this car also it is very affordable.

  • The best I have ever had - 2003 Mazda Mazda6
    By -

I have owned 13 cars and this is by far the best car I have ever owned. I purchased it last year with 200,000 miles on it as a temporary car. However, I fell in love with my 03 Mazda 6 s. It handles great and I have put 36,000 miles on it myself. I have driven it on family vacations because its comfortable and reliable. When the battery started to go bad, it never left me anywhere. It made sure I made it to the auto parts store and now its just like new. People seem to complain if they get a lemon. That is a possibility with any car you buy. If I had to take a cross country trip tomorrow best believe I would hop in my 6 and zoom zoom with no hesitation.
