  • The economy car that looks like a Zoomer - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

What can I say. With Mazda giving away financing and our great experiences with Mazda, the 6i was a no-brainer. We got one loaded with everything except a cassette deck, and knocked about 2.5 off the sticker. It looks like a million bucks, but thats just me. Driving is taut and nimble, shifting is smooth (although mine is not, having had about four automatics in a row.) I read elsewhere about the transformation of the 4 cylinder at 3,500 RPM, and its true. Below that, its a nice looking grocery hauler getting near 40 mpg. Above that, and you feel some pull and muscle. Not a lot, but some.

Very nice car! I got one of the last ones at the dealership for real cheap.

  • Some Flaws, overall excellence - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

Just did a transition from a Grand Cherokee V8 to a 4 cyl Mazda 6i. Auto/Manual Mode is appealing, though V6 would have been more accomadating. In my first 5 days of driving it, went from a full tank to nearly empty. Made me question the 24/30 city/highway estimates. Handling is nice, but sometimes shaky and parking is a nightmare.

  • BRAKE AND TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS! - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

I bought my 2003 Mazda 6S brand new. For starters, I had to get new rotors every 5K miles. They warped constantly. At 45K, I had a total of 8 new sets of rotors! They finally checked my calipers and found out I had a stuck caliper that was causing it. My transmission had to be replaced at 48K, as well as the transmission controller. The transmission started slamming from about 8K between 2nd & 3rd gear. This car has been nothing but a LEMON! I would NEVER buy another Mazda product. The dealership accused me of driving the car hard! I am not hard on a car. They could not figure it out so they tried to blame me.

  • Dont buy from company whose motto is "Cant guarantee how long this car will last". - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

I bought this car new in 2003 with a 50k warranty. I complained several times about misfiring after 1 month and dealer never found the trouble. At 55k miles the trouble was found to be the Throttle Body. I wrote to Mazda and they said "Sorry, but we cant guarantee how long parts will last after warranty." After that the right control arm broke twice(most of my driving is on the highway). Now, after 8 yrs of meticulous maintenance the compression valves gave out and will cost more to repair than the car is worth. I wrote to Mazda, and again their response was, "Sorry, but we can not guarantee how long our cars will last."

  • A "Sporty" sedan, not a Sports Sedan - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

I am a "driver" who was fed up driving a turbo lagged 9-3 (1999) in traffic without a decent cupholder. Gave up the manual and purchased a 2003 6 v6 with an automatic. The modern looks inside and out sold me - I wouldnt consider an Accord, etc. because of how common they are. I think this should be on the list for anyone looking at sedans but people who highly value sports handling should consider something else. This car is a very comfortable daily driver with everything at your fingertips. The engine is a blast in the mid-range but with the automatic the low end is abysmal. Dont expect quick shifts with the automanual - its better just to hold gears in turns. Handling is sloppy at higher speeds.

Great experience, had the car 4 years and not had a single mechanical issue. The 6s is a great car for long distance drives or around the city. It has the punch to get you around whatever situation presents itself but comfortable ride with excellent driver sear configuration.

I highly recommend this car! The ride is smooth, extremely quiet and very comfortable. I was sold as soon as I drove it. The steering and handling are excellent and very responsive. The stock CD player/sound system is also good.

  • GREAT CAR! - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

Get multiple price quotes on the net to get the best price and then go buy the 6s V6 with all options. Its sporty and stands out from the others in its class thanks to style and value. I ordered it and had to wait almost 4 months to get it. Camry and Accord are so dull looking. I am a past accord owner and their 2003 design looked pathetic to me and then I saw the Mazda 6s on the floor.
