  • Disappointed in Ohio - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

When I first bought my brand new Mazda 6 in 2003 I kept getting a burning smell in the car. The Mazda mechanic told me the smell would go away after 3 -5 thousand miles. He said it was something to do with the exhaust pipes. I can not remember how many times my brakes had to be changed and also just a month before my warranty expired I had to get rust fixed around my back wheel well. Of course they gave me a hard time but they fixed it twice because the first time looked terrible , I could have done better. Needless to say the rust came back with a fury it looks terrible,at least it is only in that one spot (strangely). Also the light cover on my front passenger door never stays on .

  • Best car I have ever owned - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

My V6 manual has been the best car I have ever owned. I purchased my 2003 Mazda 6 new in April 2004 and still drive it today (8/14/2014). The only thing that has gone wrong with this car in over 10 years is the water pump once went out and I had to replace a sagging headliner. I have over 150,000 miles on it and it drives as well today as the day I bought it. The paint, interior, and mechanical components have held up well. I read many of the reviews prior to writing this one which stated problems starting around the 50,000 mile mark. I am sure glad that has not been my experience. The car has been a pleasure to drive and almost like part of the family after so many years.

  • Oil Leaks Wont go away - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

I love the way the car looks and handles, but This is my third trip back to the dealer with oil leaking problem. They had to drop my AT transmission to get to the rear main seal. They messed up the AT and power steering. After all that and about 3 weeks without a car, the dam thing still leaks. Im currently filing Lemon Law Papers. Anyone else have oil leaks?

  • A FUN 4 Door at last - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

After driving the most popular American sedan for nearly 10 years (I had a Ford Taurus and a Mercury Sable), I decided that I needed a change. After driving no less that 15 different cars, I decided that the Mazda 6 was the car I wanted. Far more pep than most cars in its class, both American and foreign, it was the car that came out in front. I drove some Toyotas and some Hondas and they werent bad at all, but the Mazda 6 were nicer looking, inside and out and the Mazda feels like a better performer. The Mazda also has its trademark "engine growl" that adds to the excitement. The ride is tight; you really can feel the road so if you like a soft ride, this car isnt for you. Zoom zoom!

I like to drive the car, it handles great on Vermont mountain roads, is great on longer runs on the Interstate and has given me no trouble. Performance is good, plenty of power. Highly recommend one. I just wish they would offer an all wheel drive model.

  • Mazda 6 - Best bang for the buck - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

After spending hours on the internet, reading my favorite automotive magazines, and a couple of test drives, It was clear that the Mazda 6 (fully loaded) fit most of my requirements. Those being: performance over 200hp, good handling, stylish looks (external & internal), comfortable interior (leather), quality sound system (Bose), smooth transmission (automatic), and price. Now if price was not a factor I would have chosen the 2003 Infinity G35 coupe. A much more refined and sporty car, but for $15-$20K more and about 40- 60hp more it just wasnt worth paying the difference.

  • Its still a great car. - 2003 Mazda Mazda6
    By -

I bought the V6 when it first came out. I loved the styling of the car, especially compared to the Camry & Accord. It handles much better than those two as well, tighter, stiffer. I think its looks are holding up very well. Yes, there were a few teething problems with it. Squeaking/knocking noise when turning slowly at full lock(lower control arm issues). Rattle that comes & goes from the headliner. The very annoying shifting issues from 1st-2nd, 2nd-3rd(this was a defective throttle body problem that cost me $600 last year).

  • Great car for the price - 2003 Mazda Mazda6

I bought my Mazda6 used in March of 2006. It is an 03 i model with 32000 miles. It came with leather, Bose audio, moonroof and lots of other options. So far I have had no reliability issues and I really enjoy driving the car. The dealership where I purchased my car was also very helpful any time Ive needed to ask questions or it has been time for service.

Purchased the vehicle in July of 06 with just over 18,000 miles and was as happy as could be for the first year or so. The second year on the other hand was not so good, I felt as tho I was taking the car in once a month for something different it started with a squeaky driver seat then some recalls then some weird clunks then a defective starter and several other things. Once everything was fixed things were okay until the car reached 58,000 miles and decided that it would be a good time to blow up! According to the mechanics the piston rod snapped and blew two holes in the block. The worst part is I was doing about seventy on the freeway not even accelerating. $9000 later the car is running ok

  • Nice, but quality??? - 2003 Mazda Mazda6
    By -

Love the car! However, Im actually quite annoyed by the lack of quality. The dash rattles, my fan broke and was replaced by Mazda, there is a rotten egg smell, and my front sunshade is loose. In all honesty, Mazda has a potential winner here, but how can they succeed without the quality? I really like the car, but one should not have to deal with these problems associated with a new car. My fault for buying the first year...
