  • Sorento EX V6 AWD 2006 RAV4 Limited AWD - 2011 Kia Sorento

For $2K more than I paid for my RAV4 4 years ago, I got a lot more. Leather, GPS w/bluetooth/voice activated, rear camera w/backup warning, chrome 18" wheels, more room in 3rd row seat and easier to get in/out, 6 speed auto, FOB keyless, etc. Paid $30K (w/o tax, lic). RAV4 drives stiffer. It will also blow the doors off the KIA with its 269 HP 5 spd auto! Kias mpg has gotten better. Was 16.5, now 18-19 city. Hwy can get 23 mpg. Now, all the complaints other reviewers had, I havent experienced. Hope I dont. But, the tranny on the RAV4 (64K miles) leaked oil. Dealer said $1800 minimum to fix. Shaft to transaxle had 3 cracks on it! Out of warranty. Toyota did a good-will on it. Cost me $165.

  • Not a bad pick - 2011 Kia Sorento

Definitely the nicest vehicle i have ever owned. Very comfortable, attractive design, and smooth ride. Only problem ive had was 3 days after i purchased it i was on my way to go skiing and just about every light you could think of started to show up on the dash board. Then every time i hit the break pedal the sorrent started to shake violently. When i stoped the vehicle i could not put it into park. I had to have road side assistance towe me back to the dealership. 3 days later the dealership called me and told me that there was a piece of plastic stuck in between the fuse and the connecter that powered the alternator. To me that was a sketchy explanation and a poor experience.

  • Almost 40 K on the Sorento - 2011 Kia Sorento

I have the car three years already, on some trips no problem the machine is reliable. Some minor issues: the transmission ( manual) was changed because of a small "click" sound. the mechanic got lazy and after complaining several times (since he said: " the sound is normal") they put a new transmission and when they finished the sound was still there. Took it to another place it was a minor issue ( 30$ for repairing).Just changed the rear pads. hope to keep the car a few years more.

  • Just got it - 2011 Kia Sorento

FWD LX with TRS, CPK, auto-dimming mirror and floor mats all under 20400+TTL Seems like a good deal. Car performs well. It is much noisier compared to a chevy traverse. Pick up is OK giver a 4 cylinder. Not much more to report at this time.

  • Very poor gas mileage - 2011 Kia Sorento

If youre looking for an 4cyl SUV with good gas mileage, this isnt the vehicle for you. I know it will get a little better, maybe 2mpg, but at an average of 22mpg for mostly highway, best I can get is 26mpg at 55mph, not close enough. However, great price, lots of room, well designed but it lacks comfortable seats. Kia, Im very dissapointed you couldnt get an engine in your vehicle that gets at least 30mpg. I should have gone with something else.

  • Promising not perfect - 2011 Kia Sorento

Overall a great value and exceptional follow up service from the company. We had an initial vibration problem that was solved and corrected. Our biggest complaint is gas mileage which is pathetic for a 4-Cyl. Were we to do it over we would opt for the V-6.

  • Update vs RAV4 Review 09-24-10 - 2011 Kia Sorento

Never buy 1st year model! The latest on my Kia is the master cylinder went bad. Always had a "soft" brake pedal. Took it in to be checked. Needed a new master cylinder. Had to order new one. Dealer "fixed it"? two days later. Next morning pedal almost went to floor! Back to dealer. I didnt find ant TSB on a problem w/brakes. Wont get back for three days! Also problem w/pulling to right. Mechanic cross rotated tires to fix problem. Said was "radial pull". I already had tires rotated at last service. Didnt help. Havent driven it much since brake problem, so cant verify if fixed. So what is the big deal on the warranty if you have to continue bringing it to dealer for repairs!

  • No More searching - Buy this car! - 2011 Kia Sorento

Ladies and Gentlemen, Like me you have read every review in the small mid size SUV category and having trouble deciding. I am so glad I chose the new Sorento. I have owned BMW, lexus, GMC. Mercedes and a range rover and this is the best car I have owned. The engine is like a Lexus, effortless from stop or in traffic. I have driven 15K miles in 6 months and besides a bad shock which was replaced in 24 hrs at no charge the car has been perfect. MPG is about 21 average with mostly city driving. The handling is like a BMW, gripes the road with no roll felt. BUY THIS CAR! Got a basic V6 for 23K, very happy.

I opted for the 4 cyl. AWD and its ok, ive driven a Sorento from long island to Memphis TN back in April (rental) and it was a great ride which lead me to choose the Sorento, I purchased my KIA on 12/7/10. I like the car and i like the interior layout and the dashboard, its put together rather well, just a few rattles in the interior and ive squelched all but one... i average 24 mpg, a combo of local and hwy driving...i like the rear back up camera. make sure ya get the ipod cable, and the rear cargo cover and your good to go...

  • Beyond Expectation - 2011 Kia Sorento

Right after purchase we took it on a road trip to S. Lake Tahoe. The handling was very smooth and controlled even in the twists and turns of the mountain roads. The 4 cylinder engine performed beyond my expectations. It accelerated smoothly and passing at high speeds was a breeze. The engines uphill performance was surprising; I had no trouble climbing the 7,000+ foot grade to Lake Tahoe. Round trip-the Sorento delivered an unbelievable 30 MPG. This was a mix of highway, twisting mountain roads, and around the City of S. Lake Tahoe. Overall, Im very please with my purchase.
