  • safety problem - 2011 Kia Sorento

my daughter and I have owned this car for 2 years, both back seatbelts are fraying in the same spots. They said because there are dog hairs in the car the dog must have chewed them. My daughter is a dog groomer, she does have a dog but it would be impossible for him to chew them considering where they are wearing (inside the housing). These are my grand children, they deserve to be safe. they said they are not covered....what the heck!!!!!

  • Never buy a Kia - 2011 Kia Sorento

I am so pissed at kia, I have to rant. I am so pissed that I paid almost $30,000 for a V6 sorento to tow my boat and I cant use it. two dealers told me it can tow 3500 pounds, the brochure and website says it can tow 3500 lbs. I get the vehicle home buy a hitch and then I see in the owners manual that everything I was told was wrong. Kia advertises the 4 cylinder tows 2000 pounds, but the owners manual say not to tow with it. They advertise the v6 tows 3500 pounds but the owners manual say it tows 2000 pounds. After dealing with Kia on this issue I will never deal with them again. Sorry about the rant review but I have to get it out.

  • Great car except back seats do not work - 2011 Kia Sorento

The rear seat latch does not work. Had it repaired three times because it kept breaking. We just past 60K and the seat is stuck down. KIA wants to charge us $900 to fix a defective seat. We can not even sit in it and can not get it upright. Corporate fixed it before for free since this is a KNOWN DEFECT but now they say tough luck. Never buying a KIA again!

  • DO NOT BUY - 2011 Kia Sorento

I bought my Sorento in March of 2010 and started having problems with it in May. I have had it in the shop 41 days and counting since then. It will stall going 55-70mph and lose power until you stomp the gas again. Kia has been horrible to us and now they have the vehicle and are not providing us a car to drive because and I quote "this is only a nuissance not a safety issue!" I am a mother of a little boy and they may not care but I do care if something happens with my child in the car. We have turned the case over to BBB and am praying for the best. Do not buy if you want reliablity and service after the sell.

  • Very unhappy kia owner - 2011 Kia Sorento

I am very dissatisfied with this vehicle. To pay this much for a vehicle and have it develop so many rattles so soon is very disappointing, also the strut noise is constant, something I would expect in a $12,000 car, not a $30,000. very unhappy customer, would not buy again

  • Do not buy one! - 2011 Kia Sorento

With less than 750 miles we developed a problem in the start up which Kia says they do not have a fix and do not know when a fix will be available. We bought their top of the line model and have been left "in the cold" as the saying goes. We were told absolutely not to refund or replacement and that we had to remove our vehicle from their service lot (still with the problem) or face storage fees. In my opinion do not waste your time looking at this vehicle.

  • Words cant even describe the rage... - 2011 Kia Sorento

You couldnt pay me to drive another one of these. My wife and I both purchased our own Sorentos. Each Sorento shares the same problems. These problems include transmission, engine, interior trim, electrical, body, and brake problems. The transmission slips, jolts, and resists the movement of the car. The engine sometimes misfires and makes a loud ticking noise. The interior trim doesnt line up and easily pops off. The headlights cut out and the backup cam doesnt always work. The body panels dont line up the way they should. The brakes are spongy and caused my wife to get in an accident, rear ending a Focus at 10mph, costing $4000 of damage.

We purchased this car because of the warranty and the fact of having good luck with Hyundais. Our test drive was a couple of blocks, our mistake, bought the car. This is the roughest riding car I have ever driven, acts like it doesnt even have shocks. The Kia Rep. was in town, took our car for a drive and we were told that the roughness was due to the 17" wheels which are on the LX models, paid over $22,000 less than three months ago, they offered $17,500 trade-in on he EX model. I called the Kia Factory and they said we would just have to live with if or put 18" wheels at our expense. My advice is. STAY AWAY FROM THE HYUNDAI AND KIA CARS, the warranty is not worth it.

  • Great Car Except..the minor NON DEPLOYING AIR BAGS - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

I love this car. Seriously I do. Which is why I am sickened about the safety issue I have learned about with Kias air bags. I read several reviews on here before I purchased it and am disappointed none where about the air bags. My air bag light came on suddenly. Vehicle was not involved in any sort of accident. Took it in and bottom line I had to have an entire new driver side air bag and assembly replaced. When I question how the heck an air bag needs to be replaced with out being in an accident or tampered with Dealer says, "It just happens, the air bag is defective." Well I wasnt going to drive around in a vehicle whos driver side air bag was not functioning. So I coughed up $1300 to get it fixed. Figured Id go after Kia after the fact. They have told me no, and no again. One of the reps tried telling me this isnt a safety issue. Seriously? Anyways, I will get my money out of them. In the mean time a little internet research reveals several, several stories of people who did not have an air bag light on and where in roll over or other serious collisions and NO air bags deployed. Scary. Wonder if the rest of my air bags will work in a collision...?
