  • Good deal, poor fuel economy on AWD V6 - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

Got a decent deal on a EX V6 AWD with sunroof and rearview camera. Good power and handling but disappointed with extra stiff ride and shocks/struts noise. Fuel economy no where near EPA estimate, getting 12- 14mpg in mainly city driving. Recommend test driving a few types (I4 vs V6 vs AWD) and monitoring fuel economy reading on odometer before buying. Make sure your comfortable with the stiff ride on rough roads.

  • MADE IN USA (well, 56% of it anyway!) - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

Ive had my AWD EX w/Limited, Premium and 3rd row seat, for a week now, so far, so good! I promise to post updates every 1000 miles or so. My criteria for a SUV was simple (or so I thought). Get the same or better fuel eff as my 03 Acura TLS (which was trouble free until transmission issues at 125k); 23/27. Only averaging 20 mpg in mixed driving so far, well see if it gets better. And, it needed to be made in the US. Easy right? Not so. Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Mitsu, Acura? All overseas. Plus, I loved the monkey sock puppet commercial! Kidding. 60, 000 B2B, 100,000 eng and trans wtty. 4 cyl is a bit noisey on the otside, but not inside. Smartkey, nice leather, upgraded stereo w/nav, try one

  • My New Car - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

I just bought my new Kia Sorento about a month ago now. The car is fine as it comes but Ive found that a few safety things are missing. EX: tail gate is not always locked, even though the sticker says it has daytime running lights the car does not. Also I believe that the sticker price was way out of reach for most people. I thought I got a good deal but didnt so I would caution those contemplating a Kia Sorento purchase that Buyer Beware. Know that you are getting all you expect to get. Would I buy another that remains to be seen but right now NO.

  • Satelite Radio defective - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

The Sat radio reception is so bad in urban areas, I wont even bother renewing my subscription. Ive had XM for over four years on my Chevy and never came close to losing signal like this. The service dept. says "Oh yeah there all like that" Could the rough truck like ride be the cause? If I could go back in time I would buy something else

  • Buy The V6 - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

We purchased the EX I4 FWD, Premium Pkg 1 with no third seat. We wanted high mpg and cargo space. I would have bought the V6 but the Prem Pkg also requires the Limited Pkg and DVD which are a waste of money IMO. You can get a Garmin for $200 and a portable DVD for $100 The I4 is currently delivering ~22 mpg on the highway and about 20 city. While the I4 has adequate power, the V6 appears to get equal and probably better MPG. Also, we have driven the V6 about 5 hours on the highway as a dealer loaner and the V6 ride is much smoother and less choppy than the I4 for some reason. The Sorento is a comfortable car, even for a 6 tall driver like me. The EX should have a radio upgrade available.

  • Needs Improvement - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

Purchased vehicle in March 2010, Kia needs to address the issue with the noisy front end struts and the ride quality on bumpy roads asap. I had to the dealer twice for this issue and they said that Kia is aware of the issue but has no fix as of yet. This is unacceptable! If they know there is a problem then why dont they take care of it. I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone at this point because of this issue. Very annoying.

  • 9 month review - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

I purchased my Sorento March 2010 I now have 5,000 miles.. I do enjoy the vehicle except there a many rattles inside and the ride seems to be a bit harsh..not very comfortable.. The 4-cy is just adequate.. My car does not like to go up any hills/inclines.. the engine revs up to 4-5000 rpm and will not shift until I get to the top. Gas mileage is around 18mpg nothing great. Waiting to see how the AWD will be in the snow/ice. So far not overly satisfied with the vehicle.. but not the worst choice either.. I would like a better engine and better ride.

  • So far so good - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

I have had my Sorento for almost a month now. I was trading in a 2004 Mitsu galant (v6), i was looking for a little bit more comfort, reliability, and functionality. I test drove many other models from both foreign and domestic makers. I am 61" and not a little guy so comfort and room were essential. I have taken a road trip that required about 6 hours of time behind the wheel and did not have an issue with the comfort. There is an odd rattle/grind when i start the v6 cold, after visiting the dealership having them inspect it the service technician told me it was normal and not to worry. The only issue is my grandparents recently bought a ford crossover, now they want trade cars.

  • Was really hoping for more - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

Just bought this car in August, only has 1500 miles on it and Im already having issues. The transmission seems to be acting up. I live in Florida and 3-4 times now when in drive, but stopped at a stop sign on a slight hill, the car does not budge when I give it gas. Not sure what this is about. Can also feel hard shifting while driving. The fuel economy is worse than expected - at best 21 mpg. The avg mpg reading never seems to be correct. Also, being petite I am building muscles trying to close the back hatch. Its crazy hard to close. The good news is that I love driving it. Its a beautiful car. It fits the family well. I was just really hoping for better fuel and more reliability.

I have only had my Kia Sorento 3 weeks. So far it was an excellent choice. the only issue I have with it is the pairing of my cell phone. I have a Samsung Omnia and it doesnt want to reconnect with bluetooth when i get back in the vehicle after leaving it.
