  • POOREST MPG - 2011 Kia Sorento

I regret trading in our 02 Venture van that averaged 22 city. This vehicle is only getting an awful 16. My 5.3l V8 Silverado gets that! I was told it would get better after 1000 miles of break in, but that was a big fat lie! Now the turn signals will not cancel after turning. After 2 months still havent received paperwork for title and registration, Hyundai motor credit lost it! Cant wait to get rid of this one. Ive never said that about any car before.

  • This is a Kia? Really? - 2011 Kia Sorento

We wanted a larger SUV (traded an 09 Ford Escape) with AWD. Looked at the Mitsubishi Outlander SE, Suzuki Grand Vitara, Chevy Equinox, and Ford Escape. Feature for dollar the Kia cant be beat. The ride is very good and comfortable. The vehicle is rather roomy and the design is very pleasing with some nice touches. But dont touch that plastic. While it looks expensive with is graining, its harder than a rock!

  • 3 weeks old and already back for repair - 2011 Kia Sorento

My car is 3 weeks old, 450 total miles. It developed a high pitch noise coming from under the car. The dealer has my vehicle already 3 days waiting for some kind of special grease. Just a heads up for everybody thinking of buying a 2011 sorento

I was looking to replace my 12 year old Jeep. I looked and drove about everything on the market in the crossover class. I liked the loaded standards and the seats for seven people. The AWD goes were you point it. It is quick and fun to drive. The layout is good and the fit and finish is nice. I had the passenger roof light switch is bad but I have had no other problems. I love the back up camera and it really helps. It turns in a small space. The tires seem alright but I cant wait to try better tires. The car is just a joy to drive.

I purchased my Sorento late November 2010 replacing a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee (V8). I did about 6 months of research and test drives before I made my choice. I travel for work quite a bit and was looking for something with better mileage. I currently have 12,000 miles on the Sorento and nearly 70% are work related. The mileage was very disappointing at first, only averaging 21 MPG. After the first service, the mileage spiked. I am currently averaging a little over 24 MPG. I didn’t change my driving habits, maybe coincidence? I had one issue with the Sorento, the rear brake calipers were faulty and leaked brake fluid basically giving me a dead brake pedal. I took it to the dealership when I noticed the issue. They were very helpful and accommodating to get this fixed. This happened on a Friday. The dealership gave me a loaner out of their stock and I picked up my Sorento the following Tuesday. As mentioned in other reviews, I do get a little bit of a rattle in the middle/lower dash but this only happens when the interior of the car is cold. Living in Northern Illinois, the roads are far from perfect and any car hitting multiple pot holes and road damage is going to make noise. I am very happy with this Sorento. It was a great replacement against the Cherokee and the Sorento V6 seems to have as much get-up-and-go as my old SUV. For price/options/warranty, no other SUV/Crossover can compete. For an additional piece of mind, I paid an extra $500 through my dealership to get bumper-to-bumper warranty for 10 years/100k miles versus the standard Kia power train warranty.

I bought mine used last year a 2011. Had a few problems in the beginning but they fixed it. It seems it was electrical and needed a software update and something about a brake switch. Other than that it has been running good. The battery does wear down quickly. The engine runs louder than what I think a new car should. Coming up on 30K service so will have it checked. Also the gas mileage is terrible. Not sure how some people are getting 22-23 in city on a V6 AWD. I get 15mpg but I am probably avg speed 35 and a lot of stop and go. Maybe that has something to do with it. But also on highway I havent gotten more than 21mpg. Considering trading it in but wondering, cont below...

  • One major problem..... - 2011 Kia Sorento

I love almost everything about my 2011 Kia Sorento. Its very roomy, comfortable, tons of standard options and very functional. Also averaging about 23 mpg, which is better than I expected. The biggest downfall, so far, of my Kia has been a transmission issue where my car will automatically downshift into 4th gear and stick in that gear until I turn the engine off. Its done this twice and my wife is now scared to drive it. I just pray it doesnt shift into 1st or 2nd gear at 55+ mph.

Like the vehicle, one thing really "bugs" me. You cannot read any of the computer readouts, mileage, gas used, averages, etc.. during day time. Figures are in dark red on a black background impossible for anyone to read.I would spend a few dollars to have this corrected if I could have it done. On a trip you cannot just glance down and see how far you have driven.

  • Satisfied So Far - 2011 Kia Sorento

We purchased our 2011 Sorento a few weeks ago. Driving conservatively, getting around 25 mpg in town. Spacious interior...husband is 64 and fits comfortably with adequate head room. Appealing looking interior & exterior. Ride not as smooth over rougher roads. Occasional rattling in rear area...not able to identify. Click sound from dashboard, behind radio when slowing down & hitting 5 mph. Dealership stated that the click noise is due to a "relay" which allows a driver to move from Drive to Reverse. The sound is a little frustrating/irritating to me but may not bother other drivers. Overall, the vehicle appears to be a great purchase.

  • Noisy clanking and knocking suspension - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

Nice quiet ride on smooth roads at all speeds. BAD suspension. Rattles and knocking sounds from front right side only on minor bumps.Did this from day 1 and now over 3500 miles still the same. Even a new one at dealer did the same thing. 3 attempts to fix at dealer results in "COMMON TO THIS VEHICLE"! Come on Kia lets get this fixed or its bye bye Kia forever.
