  • Just needs a little work - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

Bought 3/15/2010 as my company vehicle. The drive by wire throttle system is sluggish to respond to changes. Probably not as noticeably in an automatic. The transmission (manual) is difficult to shift into 1st and 2nd when outside temp is cold (below 50). The fuel economy is not what I was hoping for either. Its getting better (started at about 19, but now averages 21-22 combined city/hwy). Quality of the audio system is not the greatest. It distorts badly when played loud. I wanted to get some miles on it before complaining about anything. It now has 6500 miles on it, so its time to go to the dealer. Love the vehicle, it just a has a few quirks to iron out. Hopefully they can.

  • Very solid - 2011 Kia Sorento

The ride is smooth. Some might complain about going over bumps, but in reality, who drives on bumps all the time? When on the freeway and going 75 mph, it is very smooth. On streets and avenues, the ride is comfortable. I have driven in BMWs X5, Lexus and the ride difference is minuscule. Im not interested in a bunch of bells and whistles, I want a good radio, blue tooth and iPod hookup. And it has all of that. This SUV gets me from point (a) to point (b). In reality, that is all you want.

  • Unique - 2011 Kia Sorento

We have driven our LX v6 Sorento for 2 months now. It averages about 19 mpg in regular driving and 21 on the highway, lower than expected. The car is well thought out and has great style. The front suspension is louder than my old drum set when going over even the smallest bumps, this needs to be recalled for this reason.Kia knows it is a problem since the new SX uses a different suspension system. Kia think of us and offer a fix to the LX suspension. Other than that a nice SUV.

  • Problem with the Onboard Navigation System - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

Here is my story: I have leased a 2011 KIA Sorrento (February 2011) from Tempe KIA [violative content deleted] and have found a problem with the internal navigation system. I have come to find out that the system is only programmed for using freeways and not recognizing quicker routes. Case in point: I went Las Vegas about two weeks ago and entered my destination into the onboard nav system. The nav system tried to take me to Flagstaff to connect with I-40 (142 plus, unnecessary miles) instead of directing me to US93, a much faster route. On the way home the onboard nav system again tried to route me through Flagstaff instead of US93 through Wickenburg. KIA refuses to anything about this. Buyer beware

  • Fuel - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

The only thing I am disappointed in is the fuel economy. It doesnt even get close to what the sticker says. I can see a couple miles less but when you get 8 to 10 miles off, thats a big difference. I based my decision to purchase this SUV because of the fuel economy it was supposed to have.

  • Transmission - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

We purchased our new 2011 Sorento and after 3 weeks and 2000 km we had 3 major transmission shocks in a single day, as well as one event when it seem to completely come out of gear, before once again dropping into gear with a major jolt. This is our second Kia, we traded our Spectra as it was also having transmission problems when it would lock in third gear and only reset if we would stop and shut off the engine. right now we are not to pleased with kia, they have had the Sorento in the shop or 4 days and say it is a sensor problem. right now we are not very happy with Kia and regret our purchase.

  • Love My Sorento, But... - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

Well, I LOVE my Sorento! Purchased it in March 2010. Have been all over and it has been a GREAT car. Only a few things that I dislike about it. 1). The fuel economy is HORRIBLE! I have a 4 cylinder, but I get 18 in city, and 24 on hwy UGH! Big let down for me. 2). The car ride is very bumpy. Sometimes I am wondering if I am riding on just bare rims. Definitely needs improvement on shock absorbency. 3). Lack of get up and go power. Have to wonder if I am in a power wheel at times haha! Definitely cant jump out in front of anyone. Those are the only things I dislike about my Sorento, other than that I love the car. Great car for great $!

  • So Far So Bad - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

Own a EX V6 FWD with the Premium Package. Interior Fit and Finish are excellent. Exterior in the Titamium Silver is beautiful. Car has been a disappointment though. Many rattles have developed after only 2650 miles on the car. Second and Third row seats are way too tight for adults or teens for that matter. With our 11 month old grandsons car seat in my wife who is 59" tall has to have her seat so far up that her knees touch the dash. Climate Control Sensor has gone bad two times. This is the first car I have ever bought that I regret my decision. To think that I traded an very reliable 04 Mountaineer which I loved, but the MPG was a killer.

  • What are you expecting? - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

Purchased this vehicle to replace 06, V8 Explorer. Needed equivalent room for salesmans samples. First impression was good build quality. Standard complaints. Torque steer is manageable if you stay off the full throttle. Brakes are firm, so are the seats. You are not coddled in these chairs, they are stiff. Sorento leans in the twisties more than expected since the ride is jarring with suspension set up. This vehicle rides like a ford Ranger pick up. Dont expect suppleness in the suspension when encountering rough pavement. its not there. The nav system works fine but the voice recognition system is awful. Do I need to speak Korean? We will see how this goes after more than 500 miles

  • Bad Purchase - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

Traded in a 2008, lx, v6,4x4, real mistake. The 2011 sorento lx 4 cyl. Has loud strut noise, rides rough, loud road noise and the transmission whines on the 4 cyl. The 4 cyl only gets 1 mpg better than my v-6 got. I was told undercoating would help, it didnt. The only solution for the tranny noise was to play the radio louder. This was my fourth Kia in four years. The only good one was the 2008 sorento. Dont take a short test drive on a smooth road like I did.
