Overview & Reviews
The Hyundai Tucson is an all-new compact SUV from Hyundai. It rides on the Elantra platform and is intended for buyers who want a smaller package than the midsize Santa Fe.
- Generous warranty, standard ABS and stability control, roomy passenger and cargo space, attractive interior, standard side and head curtain airbags.
- Low horsepower rating, some cheap interior materials here and there.

First Day... - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
By VJ and Rich - September 18 - 10:00 amWe looked at all small SUVs and found the best values at Hyundai, so it was between the Santa Fe and the Tucson. The Tucsons interior sold us and the ride was very smooth and quiet. After we got it, during the long drive home (35 miles) the seats were alil too firm compared to the comfort of the Santa. We love the option of having the front seats fold down and make a long long back seat, very relaxing. We would say its not as powerful however its very adequate for around-the-town travel.

LX doing just fine, thank you - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
By Dan from Chicago - August 13 - 8:40 amWe purchased our LX at Thanksgiving last November and have taken it on a couple of cross-country trips already. We really like the heated seats and mirrors here in Chicagoland, and our fuel economy has been in the 21-22 mpg range commuting, and 23-24 on the highway going cross country. Build quality is very good, and having electronic stability control is a great plus.Love the 6 airbags. Id like if it had a little more horsepower, but it accelerates okay, and runs happy and pretty quiet at highway speeds. I recommend this vehicle to those that want alot of "extras", but dont want to pay alot to have them. We chose this vehicle over Rav4, CRV, and Escape. 10yr/100000 mile warranty too!

great car poor gas mileage - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
By jerry palmeiro - June 23 - 10:53 amI fell in love with the car the moment I saw it, it has nice styling and you get alot for the money, (options, air bags, etc.) however Ive been extremely disappointed with the gas mileage only averasging about 10mpg considerably less then I was promised. When you speak with the dealership they tell you it takes 10000 miles to break in the car. Who ever heard of such nonsense. The car also pulls to the right and they tell me thats from the angle of the road for water drainage. again nonsense answer. Very pretty and roomy car but very poor service from the dealewrship which is very disappointing. To make this a better brand Hyundai needs to rein in its dealers for better service.

Best car for the money - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
By Kristen - June 11 - 3:43 pmI think this car is one of the best cars Ive driven in quite a while. It has great pick up for a SUV. I also like the warranty. It is definitely a car I would buy again.

Happy, but not ecstatic about Tucson - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
By Lynda - June 8 - 9:33 amPretty little SUV - looks like a new Lexus, except I have dual exhaust and they dont! Gas mileage is fair - I was disappointed (same as my big 8 cyl Mercury Grand Marquis) Buzzy stereo system - Ill probably have it replaced. Need power seats! No need for the automatic/manual shift. Did have engine light come on once- defective "speed sensor."

New hyundai 3500 miles - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
By Rustic - May 27 - 6:00 pmLove it. The only problem I have is not getting the fuel economy I thought I would. Get 22 pretty consistently. Wanted 25 or more for highway. other than that, its been great for as little as Ive had it.

Updated 05 Tucson GLS review - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
By shane1v - February 10 - 2:00 amIve had the Tuc for a year and 7 months/18,500 miles now. I do like the car overall. The main problem is GAS MILEAGE. Check a few Tucson forums and you will find this is a major complaint. I get about 14mpg city! That is unacceptable. Hyundai has to address this, there IS a problem. Ive also had a couple problems(A/C system almost caught fire) that required dealer attention. Other than this, I really enjoy the Tucson. Great looking, inside is very nice and well thought out, & all the standard safety features make this a great value Also, if you run into snow where you live, get the AWD. I wish I did now. PS to some other posters-I dont think the sideview mirrors are heated.

My 2005 Tucson - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
By Laspalmas - September 13 - 10:13 amFrom the actual purchase experience to taking the vehicle home and owning it for a few days has been extremely satisfying. The dealer was upfront about everything and gave me a really great deal considering its a new model. It drives great, feels much more expensive than it is. (I can say that my opinion is educated considering my previous car I traded-in was a late model Toyota Camry.) When you go down the very long list of standard features, you see just how much of a superb value this SUV is compared to the others SUVs. I was particularly dissapointed with the Nissan X-Trail (not yet available in US). The Tucson was smoother, more roomy and had a much better ride. Way to go Hyundai!

Love it! - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
By Aulcie Smith - June 19 - 5:36 amTraded in my 2002 Accent for it. Very good ride, not too rough, not too soft. Has right amount of "road feel" in steering. Plenty of room for cargo.
