The Hyundai Tucson is an all-new compact SUV from Hyundai. It rides on the Elantra platform and is intended for buyers who want a smaller package than the midsize Santa Fe.

Pros:
  • Generous warranty, standard ABS and stability control, roomy passenger and cargo space, attractive interior, standard side and head curtain airbags.
Cons:
  • Low horsepower rating, some cheap interior materials here and there.

  • First New Car - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

Im an army guy and I just bought my Tucson fully loaded 3,000 miles ago. It has been wonderful. I moved from GA to upstate NY and needed the winter features and 4WD. I love the car, the price and the warranty. The SanteFe I drove did not fit my 64 frame as well as the Tucson does. I got the extended warranty option which is 10 years bumper to bumper and its transferable! The price was the same as the sunroof. I testdrove all of its competitors and thought it over for couple weeks. I love the car.

All in all its a great value. Roomy for a small car. Nothing is exceptional, but nothing is poor either except for the gas mileage. Im getting 17 to 19 mpg.

  • What a nice truck - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

We were looking for something that we could "put stuff in" and didnt want to pay $30,000 plus for a Jeep. Looked at Chevy and wouldve paid more for a lot less. More airbags than my Volvo, took it on a trip from Jersey to Florida over the holidays and it was great!!! And I needed the 4WD in North Carolina of all places.

We bought our new Tucson about a month ago. The performance of this car is about average. It seems that something is holding it back, the ride is not smooth at all. Engine noise is prohibitive, maybe its just our car but at slow speed engine is whinning (reminds me of famous German planes Stuka during WWII). Gas mileage is awful barely 20 mpg mostly hihgway. This is 2.0L engine for Gods sake!; my 15 year old Chevy was doing 24-25. Gas pedal is in wierd position for me, get tired very easily during long drives. Leg space for passenger is OK. Overall, this is "you get what you paid for vehicle". For the money (we paid 16,250 before tax) its OK buy, dont expect great things out of it.

  • Middle East Tuscon User- Desert- City - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

Great. Use it in the desert in deep sand without any problems...as long as I remember to reduce the air in my tires. Use it on steep mountain roads. And in the city. lots of room...all seats fold right down flat including front. all passengers have told me they feel comfy. Have put 50,000 kms in one year...and am a girl !

  • Good Car, if you have a child graduating - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

If you have a child graduating from High School or College and plan on buying them an affordable SUV. You cant beat a Hyundai with its value. The new Tuscon is a great car. I would recommend it to anybody.

  • So Far So Good - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

I have about 1900 miles on my Tucson, So far its been fun to dirve, a little bigger feel to maneuver than my previous Forester, but I am getting used to it. I could use a touch more mpg which is hovering just under 20 mpg (mostly city). I dont expect that to improve though some have said it will. I believe it is a well-made vehicle with a lot of extras for the money. As other have mentioned, a little less engine noise would be appreicated, but its not a problem. The wind noise on my Forester was horrendous so this ride is much quieter. Handles and feels like a car, comfortable to ride and drive. Recommended for any seeking an economically-priced reliable, versatile vehicle.

  • Love my Tucson - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

Why get a BMW X5 when you can save 30K and get this vehicle. It rides great, looks great, fully loaded, leather seats, sunroof, etc. :) Gas Mileage could be a bit better, it is great on the Highway. I have so much room. The warranty is outstanding. I used to drive a BMW car and wanted a BMW X5 but didnt want to pay the sticker price. I found the Tucson and it came with everything and a bit more than what the X5 had, and a WAY LOWER sticker tag. I highly recommend this vehicle.

  • Poor resale /Trade-in value - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON

I love my Tuscon, but having a few problems, when you go through standing water you lose power steering and a battery light comes on. Scared I will lose control. Also off and on the power locks will not work have to unlock each door manually.

With 3000 miles under its belt, the tucson is our favotite over our Lexus 300GT. Styling is the best in category, but still weak and overall guality is excellent. A great buy for the money!
