Poor gas mileage - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
By Sherri - April 11 - 12:43 pmWe bought our Hyundai Tucson to get better gas mileage. The sticker said "20-26 mpg" I drive 12 miles to work on the highway, not stop and go. I get 19 mpg. I talked with the salesman and the service department, at first the salesman said they would check it and tune it up. When I called to set up an appointment I was told they could not help my car,and I couldnt count on those numbers. I talked with the salesman again and this time he said the estimated gas mileage is 20-23, not 23-26". Why are the numbers different???? Why are these numbers put on cars if they are not true??? Thats false advertising!!!. I had a Lincoln Town Car that got 20mpg driving 70 mph, I drive 60-65 and get 19.

BAD CHOICE - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
By P.Deleewerk - December 30 - 9:03 amBought this car for fuel economy. Did not get it. 14 local and 16 highway, if Im lucky. No pickup whatsoever. Dealer took it in 4 times and claims there is nothing wrong with it. If this is running as they say it should, dont waste your money. You can get a much larger, better built vehicle and get the same or better mileage out of it. I am so sorry I bought this vehicle

The Buzzing Tucson-We Cant Hear It - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
By Disappointed in PGH - April 5 - 11:13 amMy Tucson has been a nightmare since I bought it. Within the first thousand miles,I noticed a loud buzzing/whirring sound from the engine. At idle it was very annoying. I took it back to the dealer on two occaisions and was told:"We cant hear anything like you describe". I even requested that a new Tucson be started alongside my Tucson for comparison. The difference was dramatic but I got the same response:"No difference here!". I tokk the SUV to an independent mechanic who used a stethescope and made a diagnosis of a timing belt problem. The dealer refused the diagnosis of course and basically said:Youll get that". Not worth the hassle of going through customer service.

Stay Away At All Costs - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
By Regretful - March 3 - 4:20 pmOf all the vehicles I have owned since the early 70s, this is BY FAR the worst. After having trouble with my previous car, I bought the Tucson soley based on its warranty. What I got was HORRIBLE MPG, 8-12 City with a best of 17 Hwy. Youd think for $23G youd get a power seat, but no, I get seat bottoms an 1.5" shorter than normal to give the illusion of more leg room and my back hurts due to no lumbar support. The supposed 200W stereo sounds like a tin can.

Never again... - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
By Rich - July 22 - 9:00 pmAt first I enjoyed the vechile, until the interior parts such as the ashtray (broke 2 times) the sunglass holder broke. I have also had ongoing fuel system problems with leaks that the dealer can never seem to fix and keeps giving it back broken. I am not happy with the fit and finish of the vechile I think they could have used better material. But i guess you get what you pay for. But i will have to definatly say never buy a vechile from the Atlantic Automall in West Islip. Terrible Service, terrible sales, they told me they were going to include a better warranty on the vechile. I ended up paying for it without even knowing. Not happy. I guess i bought a lemon

Tuscon Regrets - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
By LAM - April 6 - 6:46 pmVery dissapointing gas mileage, not 22 MPG as quoted, more like 17 MPG. Engine performance leave much to be desired, always doggin. This vehicle did not hold its value, purchased at $18,7k, at trade only worth 10k (and I shopped it around)!

Only if hell freezes over - 2005 Hyundai TUCSON
By wv driver - May 8 - 6:53 amOnly if hell freezes over will I ever buy another Hyundai. I purchased this vehicle new and the sales person knew that my work required a lot of travel. I bought it and like most people it was for the warranty, However I have learned buyer beware on that. the Maintenance schedule and cost are ridiculous, the mpg sucks. I have had to purchase two sets of tires because of wear, alignments were done each time. the ESP Light comes on and goes off whenever it likes, none of the Hyundai mechanics can seem to figure it out. the car has spent more time in the garage than on the road in my book. and hyundia usa customer service likes to pass the buck whenever possible.
