This Year's Model Updates:

Most significant for the Honda minivan this year is the option to get the Touring trim with the rear-seat entertainment system and not the navigation system. Previously, the two features were always packaged together. Other changes this year include additional child-seat tether anchors for the third row and standard satellite radio for the Touring model. Finally, stated power output for the Odyssey's V6 engine has dropped slightly due to Honda's adoption of a new SAE horsepower-rating procedure.

Pros:
  • Split flat-folding rear bench
  • Agile, carlike handling
  • Optional eight-passenger seating
  • Strong reliability record.
  • Extensive feature list
  • Smooth and powerful V6

  • Awesome Crash Performance - 2006 Honda Odyssey

This van was just put to the ultimate test in a collision at 55 mph. The anti-lock brakes helped the driver maintain control for as long as possible to lessen the impact, and the crumple zones in the front of the vehicle absorbed most of the shock. The passenger cabin appeared virtually pristine, with the exception of the two front air-bags. All four people inside, including two young children, sustained very minor scrapes and bruises. Great job Honda! Will buy another Odyssey as soon as insurance money comes through.

  • Good car but shouldve not chosen it! - 2006 Honda Odyssey

    the driver side seating is very uncomfortable and tight compared to other minivans, especially the Sienna; also the loud vibration i feel beneath the car as i am driving which you can also hear from the engine and the brakes make a weird sound as youre turning; really annoying that theres no coin holder in a car costing close to $30,000;

  • No problems yet - 2006 Honda Odyssey

I have owned the 2006 EX-L since Dec. 2005. I just took it in for its first maintenance check and there were no problems found. I have just been doing regular oil changes up to now. I noticed a buzzing in the power steering - there is a service bulletin to replace the power steering reservoir which will be done at no cost. I call this my comfortron - it is easy to drive and a smooth ride. I love the turning radius which means great maneuverability. My best gas mileage has been 20 mpg and worst 16 with an average of 18. I suspect the "ECO" is a scam. I have had no trouble with my air conditioning. I bought and live in Canada. I also love being able to open the doors with the remote

Best minivan I had (3). I drive it DAILY. Fuel economy when "eco"light is on is great. Only disappointments are quality of paint & shocks. Kids bicycles scratches go all the way to the bare metal or plastic. The paint is not as good as my previous vehicles (BMW, Ford, Dodge, Volvo). I had to replace the rear shocks at 37,000. Other than those two things, the van is great. I am planning to replace it with another Odyssey

Weve had some problems, steering pump, a pipe change out and wheel bearing noise, but all in all we are very happy with our van

  • Two bad wheel bearings at 25,000 miles!! - 2006 Honda Odyssey
    By -

The first year of driving the van, I loved it. Not so much the second year. I have had several problems and yet the Honda dealership always claims they dont hear the noise or that there is nothing they can do i.e the squeak it makes when turning left. Hmm why hasnt Honda recalled this since the dealership claims that Honda is aware of this noise and they have received many complaints? AND now both of my wheel bearings have gone bad at 25,000 miles?! The leather is not the greatest. The passenger seat has a tear and only after two years! The controls are not well placed. Not to mention my DVD player is starting to act up. Whats next I ask? I cant wait to get rid of this over priced van!

  • Dissapointing qualitites - 2006 Honda Odyssey

I like the van but, yes, theres a big fat Honda "but". My cheaper 2002 Volkswagen Jetta has higher quality safety and practical features than the Honda. I have only 1, yes one complaint with the Jetta - placement of the cup holder. With Honda I have dozen minor annoying issues. Made and built in Alabama. When you call the dealership and Honda Customer Service - Amazing how they have a list of excuses Are they Psychic?! Its easier to deal with a Cell phone complaint, Timeshare or the IRS than Honda. "Its the winter snow", "You drove on dirt", "You drove on gravel" "You drove the Car", "Warantee? Nope, not covered! "NOT our Fault cause we monitored your poor driving skills." GPS Spyware?

Paid 30K for the van. MULTIPLE problems with it and Im not exactly a Whiner. 1. Steering pump at 5000 mi. Took it in and they said there was a TSB. They said the wrong fluid was added at the factory. They changed the fluid reservoir? Cured the problem for about 10k. I got the bulletin. They miss read it. the entire pump and the reservoir was to be replaced. Like every thing else with this car, the steering problem is "intermittent" they couldnt recreate the issue bla bla bla. 2. Front wheel bearings. 20k Car was in the shop 2 weeks with them trying to figure this out. Another tsb bla bla bla 3. Front brake grinding and warped rotors. 4. retaining clips in front lower bumper are falling out

Do not buy a 2006 Honda Odyssey. Read the reviews and purchase a different vehicle. We purchased our 2006 EX-L new from our local delership in Dec 2005. THe first few years we enjoyed car with good handling, comfortable, reasonable gas mileage. As the car became 4 or 5 years old we started having reliability problems such as rear motor mount, power door motors, AC compressor and Evaporator, Brake Master cylinder, Power seteering pump. Also from the first set of tire till today, we average about 25k miles per set of tires, regardless of brand, treadwear warranty, having them rotated, and periodically having alignment checked. Fast forward to today at 160k miles and we have replaced the 2nd power steering pump, 1st alternator (not too bad), 2 starteres (the first remanufactured starter failed quickly). During our thanksgiving road trip Nov 2016 our transmission decided it had had enough. The tansmission was taken care of much bettern than most with transmission fluid change by the dealership a every 30k miles. THis service apparently allowd us to drive 168k miles before its days are through (and stuck out of state). Quotes for replacement used transmission and rebuilt transmissions from H&A or Jasper will essentially equal the market value of the odyssey today. Most likely we will be offering it for part....
