This Year's Model Updates:

Most significant for the Honda minivan this year is the option to get the Touring trim with the rear-seat entertainment system and not the navigation system. Previously, the two features were always packaged together. Other changes this year include additional child-seat tether anchors for the third row and standard satellite radio for the Touring model. Finally, stated power output for the Odyssey's V6 engine has dropped slightly due to Honda's adoption of a new SAE horsepower-rating procedure.

Pros:
  • Split flat-folding rear bench
  • Agile, carlike handling
  • Optional eight-passenger seating
  • Strong reliability record.
  • Extensive feature list
  • Smooth and powerful V6

  • Still love it after 17 months - 2006 Honda Odyssey
    By -

This is our 3rd Honda and our 2nd Odyssey. We have been driving it for 17 months now, so I think I can give a pretty accurate review. Gas mileage improved once we hit about 15000 miles. We have driven it in snowy conditions and the TCS works well. I love how it handles and the power it has. We have had no problems. No car is perfect but this is pretty close.

I enjoy this item so much. It is easy to drive but I think I would pick a smaller one next time.......I am a solo driver and do not need all that room but it is wonderful. No problems at all

Most comfortable and reliable car Ive ever had.

Ive been driving this van for several months now and it has its quarks that my Chrysler Town & Country didnt have. Noisy interior, hard suspension, A/C stops working when engine is at idle during hot days (stuck in traffic), transmission slow to engage into gear from park (slow into reverse or drive), CD player doesnt have a rewind (so you need to listen to an entire track again if you miss something, bad for instructional cds), steering pulls hard to the same direction you are turning under acceleration, throttle is at times slow to respond (has a delay between pushing the gas and the van moving), easy to confuse automatic side doors if someone pulls the handle after I push the button.

  • A Sienna Killer - 2006 Honda Odyssey
    By -

I was ready to buy a Sienna, based on years of good experience with Toyota products. I drove the Sienna and the Odyssey, back to back, at the same dealership and found out why the Odyssey finally topped the Sienna as the best mini-van in 2005. The Sienna is in a class above the other mini-vans Ive driven, but the Odyssey is even better! It is a very well thought-out vehicle, handles like a sports car and is miserly on fuel, considering its weight. Its eerily quiet at both 70 mph 110 mph, going from one speed to the other in a flash. Howd they do that? The quality of construction is superb, all controls are intuitive and at-hand, making driving fun again. You gotta love this car!

  • Interior needs work - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Me and my wife have this van for 2 yrs. Fuel economy stinks, entertainment stopped working after six months. We have the ex cloth w/entertainment. Should have gotten ex-L without entertainment. We have children and for that it is great. Comfort is good. Overall good.

  • Honda 2006 - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Have had my honda 2006 for 10 months. I have had to replace front brakes at 10,000 miles and the gas pedal had to also be replaced due to rattling and rubbing noises (metal against metal). They said it is the first time they have ever seen this. All in all we have really enjoyed this van. We upgraded from the 2003 because we were pleased with the quality of the first van.Road noise is still a problem and when the middle row windows are rolled down it sounds like a train going by at full speed. Hopefully, no other problems.

  • Those BLASTED tires! - 2006 Honda Odyssey
    By -

This is my 2nd Odyssey Ive purchased and overall I am very pleased. The navigation system is a pleasure to have but sometimes it does very dorky things like make stupid lengthy detours around established routes that make no sense. Also new establishments are not available to find. Now the tires are another matter. My previous odyssey needed new tires at ~65,000 miles for approx. $600 but my new one needs 4 new PAX tires now at 40,000 miles at a cost over $1000 which are difficult to find and install except at the dealership! Extremely frustrating and aggravating but otherwise I only brag about all its other good features.

Great van - fun to drive, very comfortable. I love the folding rear seats and extra 8th seat in the middle row. We can fit 8 people comfortably! I also love the power doors.

  • Top Notch Minivan - I own 2 of them! - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Loved it so much, I bought another one...top notch quality, ride is exceptional, quiet, fit and finish, only other true competitor to the Odyssey is the Toyota....Ford, Chevy, Chrysler, Buick - not even close in any aspect......
