This Year's Model Updates:

Most significant for the Honda minivan this year is the option to get the Touring trim with the rear-seat entertainment system and not the navigation system. Previously, the two features were always packaged together. Other changes this year include additional child-seat tether anchors for the third row and standard satellite radio for the Touring model. Finally, stated power output for the Odyssey's V6 engine has dropped slightly due to Honda's adoption of a new SAE horsepower-rating procedure.

Pros:
  • Split flat-folding rear bench
  • Agile, carlike handling
  • Optional eight-passenger seating
  • Strong reliability record.
  • Extensive feature list
  • Smooth and powerful V6

Drives very well for a large vehicle never been wanting for more power comfortable on long hauls tremendous storage space and configurations no coin holder very good headlights strange and confusing button layout for climate controls we get 13.5 MPG around town (<5 miles) and 22-23 MPG on fwy cloth seats are wearing very well turning radius is OK pretty easy to parallel park excellent visibility powerful A/C seats 8 (4 adults + 4 kids in car seats + beach gear) pretty well - wouldnt want to drive more than a hour like that second row seats are pretty easy to remove - Ive had 4x8 plywood sheets inside with tailgate closed! clear gauges silly number of cup holders.

  • BEWARE! Road test before buying! - 2006 Honda Odyssey

I traded in my 03 Odyssey for 06. 06 has had vibrations in steering wheel at highway cruising speeds since purchase which make vehicle annoying, tiring and perhaps even unsafe to drive. Also excessive steering "kickback" from bumps and imperfections in pavement. Honda has balanced tires twice with no improvement. Suggest you road test Odyssey at highway speed before purchasing.

  • The Odyssey after 2 years - 2006 Honda Odyssey

This is an update on our new Odyssey after living with it for 2 years. Reliability has been excellent. Ride quality and fit & finish have held up. We took a long car trip in August. The kids had plenty of room, the DVD was great. The Nav system is awesome. We made multiple stops throughout the LA basin and it was incredibly easy with the nav computer. We still love the van. I cant imagine stuffing 3 kids across a single back seat and the van is so much easier to live with than a SUV. The Denali only comes out for towing and snow. But... the pax tires are a problem.

I absolutely love the ease of use on the Odyssey. The electronic doors opening for my kids, the lazy susan for storage. The DVD rear entertainment system is a must for kids. There is lots of room for storage and the drive is very smooth.

  • Great Mini-Van! - 2006 Honda Odyssey

We previously had another minivan, 2001. We gave it to our daughter and son-in-law for their growing family, but found we really liked having a van. After much research we decided to buy the Honda Odyssey, EXL. We took it on a trip with two other adults, about 500 miles. We got 28 MPG and the room and ride were excellent. This vehicle has plenty of power and I especially like the fuel efficiency, even with a 255 HP motor. Like other Hondas we have owned, the workmanship is excellent. Honda is very thoughtful in how they build and design a vehicle. Thanks Honda, another "Home-Run"

If youre looking for a great minivan thats fun to drive and looks nice, look no further. We drove all the top brands and Honda wins any comparison, hands down. That being said, the Toyota is a close second however, the ride isnt near as smooth or quiet and its expensive option packages make buying one a not-so- great experience. Weve had our LX for a year and we couldnt be happier (unless of course we had the touring model, but thats a bit outside our budget). If youre thinking of buying a minivan, drive the Honda first then compare the others. Youll see what I mean.

I am a certified enemy of the mini-van and am embarrassed that I like this vehicle so much.

In general, I have found a lot of the plastic parts on the car to be total garbage-- broken cup holders, broken vents, broken shade holders, broken cupholder doors, etc. The under engine compartment splash shield (made of plastic of course) fell off (because of unreliable plastic fasteners). Door mouldings fell off. The power sliding doors are finicky and have been in for service multiple times. The drivers side windows safety stops the window from rolling up after ordering at the drive thru. The dashboard lights behind the overly complicated HVAC panel stopped working at about 5000 miles. The flip down seats in the back fail to reconnect to the floor when flipped back up, leading to dangerous situations where a person sitting in them can be thrown backwards during hard acceleration or a rear end impact. The rear wheel bearings went out on both sides of the car at 50,000 miles-- $300 each. The power steering pump growled from day one and would fail to power assist at inopportune times. It finally began leaking and had to be replaced. Im not a big fan of the plastic lenses over the headlights that film over and have to be restored. We ordered a cassette player a honda accessory that was installed by the dealer, but it has always looked like it didnt belong-- it works fine however when weve used it. The luggage rack didnt come with crossbars-- for the price it should have installed itself. And last but not least my beautiful blue minivan has paint flaking off all over it making it look as pathetic as it has been all of its life. I know there are a lot of satisfied Odyssey owners out there-- we must have bought the lemon. Ive owned 3 different Accords and never had these kinds of issues with them.

Have only had this vehicle for a couple hours, but its wonderful to drive & all 4 in the family love it. Finally, a vehicle we all agree on! After all my research of almost ALL makes, Honda was the best & the Odyssey the best of the Hondas.

At 25,000 miles my Michelin pax tires will need replacement in 5-7000 miles. Cost to replace is $225/tire. Cannot subtitute other rims or tires. Keep this in mind when puchasing the touring model.
