This Year's Model Updates:

Most significant for the Honda minivan this year is the option to get the Touring trim with the rear-seat entertainment system and not the navigation system. Previously, the two features were always packaged together. Other changes this year include additional child-seat tether anchors for the third row and standard satellite radio for the Touring model. Finally, stated power output for the Odyssey's V6 engine has dropped slightly due to Honda's adoption of a new SAE horsepower-rating procedure.

Pros:
  • Split flat-folding rear bench
  • Agile, carlike handling
  • Optional eight-passenger seating
  • Strong reliability record.
  • Extensive feature list
  • Smooth and powerful V6

I purchased this mini van looking for better gas mileage than my Durango. Im getting the same mileage (my calculations agree with the electronic one) 13/16 MPG. The temp. gauge has never worked properly and am told that it was set at the factory and nothing can be done. But the biggest shock is the Pax tires. I got a puncture in the sidewall today. Pulled into a shop and was told that only Honda can replace the Pax tire because the tire and wheel are one. Honda charges $300 for a new wheel. As far as driving on the flat, I was told by Honda service that if I drive more than a few miles on it, I chance doing more damage - more money. So as I write this, Im waiting for a tow truck.

It took me for ever to get my wife to buy a minivan. She didnt want to be a "soccer mom". Now that has had the chance to drive it she loves it. I bought her a 2004 Odyssey and she loved and wouldnt get rid of it for anything. Then I talked her into driving the new 2006, well she now drives a 2006. Keep up the great work Honda!

There are only 2 complaints I have for the Odyssey. The location of the gear shift—obtrusive. Auto sliding doors sensitivity. Let me explain: the gear shift is in a weird spot, between the steering wheel and the radio controls. Usually, it would be connected to the steering wheel or below the radio controls. Because of that difference it takes getting used to. Then the two sliding doors will not operate if vehicle is not in park or if you pull the handles the wrong way. The car system will "beep" if not handled right. Although it may be viewed as a good safety feature, it becomes annoying when others are not familiar with the van. Everything else about it is great!

This was the first Honda we had bought. I just traded it in after only 11 months. We were very unhappy with the gas mileage, 15 city/22 highway. The A/C did not work the day we picked it up and it took several visits after having to drive in 90+ deg VA weather before the leak was found and correctly fixed. Trouble with run flat tire at 10000 miles. Concerning mileage I was told no one should expect what they advertise.

  • Great van, but tires dont last long - 2006 Honda Odyssey

The van was a great purchase and is fun to drive. It is very comfortable and have had little issues. I would have passed on the Touring and purchased the next level with the entertainment system, since the tires wear about 24K miles and are very costly.

  • I LOVE this van! - 2006 Honda Odyssey

After extensive research and test driving every option out there, we decided on the Odyssey. We love it! Very fun to drive, great features and a solid history of reliability...what more can you ask for? I highly recommend this van to anyone who needs space, but values a quality vehicle and wants to enjoy at least the ride while doing those dreaded errands! Kids love the DVD and power sliding doors, and we really value the navigation system. Overall an A+++++!!

  • New 06 Odssey. - 2006 Honda Odyssey

After recently returning from a 2800 mile trip throuh the mountains of East TN, NC, and VA, in this NEW Odssey I have been amazed at its power and the smoothness of its transmission shifts, (especially, the operation of the cylinder management system). Also, I have been pleased with its comfort and fuel mileage. I am a retired NASA Engineer and tend to be picky, but as of now, I am well pleased.

  • Some disappointment - 2006 Honda Odyssey

I was disappointed to find out Honda took away the rear quarter vent windows, are now stationary. Also, the floor is not level, theres a good 3-5" slope from the tailgate down toward the front of the vehicle, making use for camping and dog shows very difficult. Im VERY disappointed in the mpg. I typically get better mpg than the window sticker but get way below the mpg of my friends Toyota Siennas.

I am a first time Honda owner. This vehicle far surpasses all the other vehicles I have owned in my lifetime. The color is perfect, Desert Sand Metallic, the ease in driving is wonderful, as far as the cars performance I expect to have nothing but good things to say about it since I have only owned it for two days. I love the way the car handles and everything is in easy reach for the driver. Visibility is superb as is the sound system. I would heartily recommend this vehicle to any prospective buyer.

The craftsmanship and attention to detail is awesome. Honda and Toyota are light years ahead of anything the US automobile companies are putting out. So far no complaints I will check back in a year to let you all know how things are going.
