This Year's Model Updates:

Most significant for the Honda minivan this year is the option to get the Touring trim with the rear-seat entertainment system and not the navigation system. Previously, the two features were always packaged together. Other changes this year include additional child-seat tether anchors for the third row and standard satellite radio for the Touring model. Finally, stated power output for the Odyssey's V6 engine has dropped slightly due to Honda's adoption of a new SAE horsepower-rating procedure.

Pros:
  • Split flat-folding rear bench
  • Agile, carlike handling
  • Optional eight-passenger seating
  • Strong reliability record.
  • Extensive feature list
  • Smooth and powerful V6

  • Exceeded Expectations - 2006 Honda Odyssey

This van has been absolutely fantastic. I have never had mechanical problems of any kind. The power sliding doors have worked consistently and Ive never had a problem. Couldnt say that about the Ford Minivan I owned previously. Great ride, excellent mileage - average mid to high 20s. Very reliable. I bought it new in 2006 and I can see driving it for another 5 or 6 years. Design and quality is great. I highly recommend this vehicle.

Really reliable van has 130,000+ miles and not a single issue. Lots of space and lots of fun to drive.

I think it has great value, it is fun to drive, and it looks good inside and out. Its not the coolest car in the world but it gets the job done just fine.

  • Best mini van out there - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Bought this van in July 2006. We had some issues with this van, front wheel bearings, power steering pump, twice, all repaired or replaced by Honda. We now have 112,000 on this van and it runs like new. I just replaced the timing belt, and plan on using it another hundred thousand mies. This has been the very best vehicle I have ever owned

Everything is relative depends on what you may have been driving. I have been driving this 2006 Odyssey Touring for just over a year. Previously I drove a Lincoln Town Car for 10 years. Dont know if there is a better "ride" than with the Town Car, BUT I have not lost much with the Odyssey. I purchased it 5 years old, as $40K is entirely too much to pay for a "new" car which quickly becomes a "used" car. This model was clean and in excellent condition. I put in new spark plugs & changed the timing belt, & had to purchase a spare tire, as the former owner changed out the run-flat tires (thankfully). ONLY complaint: MPG is like 15/22, when rated at 20/28.

  • Great!! - 2006 Honda Odyssey

We bought this car used in February 2011 with 71,000 miles in it and love it. We like to sliding doors. There is a lot of cargo space. Plenty of leg room in the 3rd row. The only problem weve had is a new starter and the power-steering pump recall. We now have 88,000 miles on it and plan to drive it till it drops.

  • Pretty Good - 2006 Honda Odyssey

We bought this car in Febuary and it had 71,000 miles on it. It has only needed new engine mounts, a new starter, new tire, and a power steering pump.

  • Time to Buy it Out - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Were a one vehicle family, 2 kids, and dog. Leased new in 06 after handing in returning our 02 Civic. The need for a reliable, spacious vehicle was obvious. We went with the LX because we didnt need the bells and whistles. Weve made good use of the space - golf clubs, hockey equip, and bikes, and of course many trips to the Home Depot. Overall very pleased with performance, ride, reliability. As a daily driver, putting on 50 plus km a day, its been good. Snow tires on it for the long winters, and it rides well. Breaks needed work much earlier than expected (45,000 km), but shes a heavy van (no civic). Been looking at used vans too but, not impressed, well stick with what we got!

  • Good Van but some things to be aware of - 2006 Honda Odyssey
    By -

I was considering either Honda or Sienna. Test drove several of both. Sienna interior turned me off, it just seemed so plain, acceleration and handling was adequate but seemed the Honda was better at both. However both are good vans and safe. If you buy the Honda EX-L RES model, you need to replace the DVD to CD control cable for it to work properly with the wireless headphones. There is a service bulletin for this. Also you may get windshield whistle which the dealer was kind enough to replace the molding, it stopped. Other than that its a great vehicle. Husband loves the sunroof and bright headlights. Only thing to worry about is the potential runaway problem.

  • Best people carrier there is - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Drove Toyota, Chrysler and Nissan minivans before trying Hondas as soon as we sat in an Odyssey, we were amazed at the quality and comfort of the interior. Carlike ride (plenty of power) convinced us. Ample space for kids, luggage, grandparents. Ive fit 3 square bales of hay and 6 50-lb bags of feed into the back (with both kids comfortably seated!). VTEC engine is cool (and effective!). Keyless entry and sliding doors are a lifesaver. Kids like the dvd player, but the wireless headsets only worked once. Difficult to get into the 3rd row with child seats in the 2nd. Have replaced tires and battery once. Selling ours, only because we live on a rough unpaved road and need clearance.
