This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Honda Accord receives freshened interior and exterior styling and mechanical- and feature-related updates. Sharp eyes will notice the Accord's revised fascias and new alloy wheel designs. Minor engine tweaks, including drive-by-wire throttle control, result in a slight bump in horsepower for both the four-cylinder and V6 engine (a more significant development than you might think given the more stringent SAE testing procedures in effect this year). Additionally, the V6 sedan can now be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, and all V6 models have revised suspension settings, 17-inch alloy wheels and stability control. Last year's DX has been replaced by the VP (Value Package) trim with standard air conditioning and cruise control, and LX V6 and Hybrid models gain a moonroof. The LX Special Edition includes alloy wheels, rear disc brakes and a CD changer. The Accord Hybrid also picks up stability control and a temporary spare tire in place of last year's flat-fix kit. Additionally, the Hybrid model's fuel economy rating drops from 29 city/37 highway to 25/34. Finally, all models get a smart maintenance system and daytime running lamps.

Pros:
  • Roomy and stylish interior with simple controls, tight build quality, smooth ride, refined drivetrains, good crash test scores, strong reputation for reliability, high resale value.
Cons:
  • Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful. Hybrid model offers no advantage in fuel economy over four-cylinder.

Started with a Civic .. put 100,000 miles on it in a little over 2 years with absolutely no problems.. traded it in and upgraded to the Accord fully loaded. Love my car at 35,000 miles absolutely nothing has gone wrong. The ride is smooth .. there is a little road noise but is completely covered by light radio.. Love my XM and the voice activated navigation. Put tints on it and its a head turner.. Could get better leather though.. LOVE IT ..

Overall, this is a great car. Drives very nicely & is comfortable. Two things I wish it had though are automatic one touch sunroof control, it would be nice. Also, the road noise is a little loud when traveling on the highway. Other than that, it is a great car for the price.

  • My 2nd Accord - 2006 Honda Accord

Drove in with my 02 just to see what I could get for a trade. 3 hours later I was driving home in an 06. Got an excellent deal and love the feel of the car. More powerful and sporty feeling than my 02.

  • Last Honda for me .... - 2006 Honda Accord

After owning Hondas for the last 30 years I am on my last one. Why you ask? Its the dealers and Honda corporate US. My local dealer service dept has one great service manager and I could do without the remainder of this dept. They continue to increase oil change fees and recently wanted to charge $129 for a transmission fluid change. Went to another dealer and got it done for $49. HONDA CORP if you read the online forums then please note you have lost another customer. I am tired of dealers nickel /diming me to death. $300 for a 30k service and the main thing you do is oil/filter, air filter, cabin filter ?!?!?! Sorry, guess its Toyota from now on.

  • What a great auto! - 2006 Honda Accord

What an amazing auto! The V6 doesnt hold back, and the 6-speed manual transmission is so much fun! Gas mileage is exceptional for such a poweful car, and Vehicle Stability Assist really helps when taking those corners a little faster than you probably should. The Nav system adds a lot more fun, and is amazingly accurate and helpful. Forget BMW, Hondas got this one!

I live in Toronto and purchased this car through a broker who bought it from the US, incl his 1500 fee i believe i saved about 2500 once. There are couple of things that the American cars dont have that I miss (this is my 4th Accord) the windshield washer reservoir is much smaller and it has no low level light is the big one. Also, i cant get over how much more power this 4cy has over the 99 but it is using about 35% more gas for a similar trip (Im getting 350 miles per tank) vs 650-700k for my 99 with 300,000k on and had only one tune up. This one is a 5spd auto, tons of power off the line and at 130k. Very well screwed together, feels solid, no rattles, good value.

i just purchased my accord ex v6 with the nav system option, and i must say i am greatly satisfied. i owned a 2000 bmw 740il for about 4 months and all i had was pain. this honda is perfect however. my honda is a beautiful white with the tan leather interior which keeps heat low inside. the ride is great even with the 17inch tires. the 3liter v6 got 30.4 MPG on the interstate going 70. the 740 struggled for 20. not to be just like everyone else, but this honda is great so i recommend it to anyone who wants a 4door, a v6, or a great nav system.

  • Great Value - Must Buy - 2006 Honda Accord

Drives smoothly, superior comfort. All conveniences at your fingertips.

  • Darn good value overall!! - 2006 Honda Accord

The engine is great. Interior and exterior styling is awesome! The perforated leather is soft and of good quality. Seats are extremely comfortable. The car rides very nice and smooth. The 17" wheels and lower profile tires on this years V6 6M look sweet. Smooth shifting is difficult sometimes as another person mentioned. In traffic the clutch can be quite demanding as its especially springy; much more than your typical clutch. The brakes are not quite up to par with the performance. Handling could stand to improve a bit as its a little cushy feeling on fast turns. Overall youd be hard pressed to find a better value in this range. With a few tweaks, this car would be unbeatable!

  • 2 weeks of pleasure - 2006 Honda Accord

Minor updates for this mid-cycle change. Ive had the car only 2 weeks, and just filled-up for the second time this morning. 31.5mpg in 70%hwy, 30%city driving. I can take or leave the XM radio, but the maintenance minder is a nice feature. The new wheels are difficult to clean (space between spokes too small).
