This Year's Model Updates:

The big news is the arrival of the A4 Cabriolet, a fetching drop-top version of the A4 sedan. Initially, the company will offer only one drivetrain choice -- front-wheel drive with the 3.0-liter V6 engine and continuously variable transmission. Expect to see a 1.8T version midway through the model year and a 3.0 quattro Cab by October 2003. No word yet on the possibility of a manual transmission. As if this weren't enough, Audi plans to release a coupe version of the A4 in early 2003. The rest of the A4 lineup benefits from equipment upgrades. Leather is now optional on all 1.8T models, as are 12-way power front seats. All 3.0s will come swathed in leather, with more deluxe leather optional. Previous stand-alone options for the 3.0, including xenons and satellite steering wheel controls, have been swept up into the Premium Package. A new cold weather package includes seat heaters and a ski sack, and 17-inch all-season tires are a stand-alone extra.

Pros:
  • Available all-wheel drive, classy interiors laden with amenities, stable handling.
Cons:
  • Price goes up quickly with options, engines a little short on low-end torque.

A-4 1.8T is a dailey commuter. It has been a definite head turner and people come into wifes office to ask her about it. She loves the comfortable seats, style and its a RED convertible.

Just a great little car...fun to drive, with amazingly responsive clutchless 6- speed, easily switchable to automatic. Handles great, looks great, and handling the convertible is push-button simple. I think its the best deal in its class.

  • 2003 A4 Quattro 3.0L - 2003 Audi A4

Ive owned the car since new and now have 125,000 miles on it. Fuel pump was replaced under recall and everything else has been just routine service. No problems whatsoever. Gas mileage averages about 25 - 26 on the highway. Quattro is great in all weather conditions. Comfortable interior, excellent stereo, Xenon headlamps make night driving easy. This has been an excellent car.

  • Awesome Car! - 2003 Audi A4

My A4 has 170,000 miles and is still running beautifully. It is fun to drive, comfortable, and not half bad looking either. Has run flawless its whole life (It has been maintained exactly when suggested by Audi). Will replace the timing belt again soon, though the manual says every 100 or 105k from what I have read it should be replaced every 60- 80k as that is when it is said to break. Build quality is in a whole different class, the car is amazingly sound and solid. Manual shifts smooth and precise. Gas mileage is anywhere from 23-24 city to 30-31 hwy. Quattro is awesome too!!!

    Best Audi to date!

  • Top-notch all around - 2003 Audi A4

Being a very satisfied Honda Accord owner, I never expected the considerable jump up in build quality, attention to detail, and pure fun to drive element when moving to the A4 1.8T quattro. Everything has a consistent and well-made feel. It feels amazingly light on its feet, so to speak. The quattro AWD is a dream in heavy rains. I cannot wait for winter to try it out in the snow. Dealer has been excellent. Best compliment, to date (from a co-worker): "You can tell that its the newest car on the lot. The design is so modern it just makes every other car look old."

At 76,000 miles, I am very happy with this car. The interior design is very ergonomic and everything is oriented to the driver. Trunk space is huge. The exterior design is simple, yet elegant. Quattro AWD makes the car suitable for any driving conditions and the car is more than capable of performing in the corners - it just stays controlled at all times. The 1.8T engine is a little under performing considering the brute weight of the vehicle, but an ECU upgrade quickly fixes that issue. What you lose in engine performance, you gain in fuel economy where I get an average in the low 30s on the highway - approximately 27 mpg over all. Original and stock clutch is still going strong.

  • A4 CVT: Incredible Driving Experience - 2003 Audi A4
    By -

The FWD with CVT instead of manual or automatic tranmissions has to be driven to be believed. Choose "automatic" operation or shift yourself, clutchless, through 6 forward "gears." And the interior quality would make Honda buy an A4 to model their Accords excellent interior.
