Best car in the world - 2004 Toyota Prius
By Scott - December 29 - 8:43 amThis is the car that will transform the auto industry: proving for the first time that to be green, you dont have to sacrifice anything -- not comfort, power, safety, size or convenience, all as affordable as a regular car. It presents the question: with gas prices high and increasing, why isnt there a hybrid version of every car in the world? Its a cool car (I got the killer stereo and navigation system, and dressed it up with after-market leather seats), and I just love the feeling of burning less Mid-East oil than any other car on the road, and spewing less pollution into the air to make my kids asthma worse. Im taking care of my nation, my family and my community -- with a Prius!

Hybrid Fun - 2004 Toyota Prius
By B. Olive Young - November 22 - 2:00 amThis vehicle is very spunky, lots of fun to drive, lots of get up and go. Lots of leg room for my grown children, who are very tall. All my neighbours are very envious, and interested in the new style with all the special features in the dashboard. I love passing all the gas stations and laughing.

Driving Habits - 2004 Toyota Prius
By HAF GAST - November 11 - 10:00 amIf you must be the first away from the light so that you can be the first to arrive at the next, the Prius will usually deliver . . . but youll be miserably disappointed at the MPG. In order for this car to perform as designed, one must adjust their driving techniques; easily done by monitoring the "consumption" screen. Once accomplished, I found that even in hilly Western Pennsylvania, averaging 55 MPG/tank is a fun and easy exercise.

duhyme - 2004 Toyota Prius
By duhyme - October 24 - 3:46 pmOutstanding vehicle. Comfort of a larger class sedan, fuel ecomony better than a sub-compact. Ive had this vehicle for over two years, have driven it all over the United Kingdom and Colorado. I am very happy with its performance. Average fuel economy is about 45-50 mpg, nowhere near the advertised 65 mpg, but still very respectable.

Number 1! - 2004 Toyota Prius
By nmpriusman - October 10 - 2:00 amFor the price, the Prius buyer gets the most value for almost any car sold. The build quality is outstanding; there is not a flaw on the vehicle. Aside from that, everyone wants to know what the car is and they want to drive it. Im hoping to get a good 15- 20 years out of it. (No, the battery doesnt explode at 8 years or 100,000 miles because the warranty ends.) Like Toyotas chief Prius engineer said, "this is not just a great environmental car; this is great car, period."

117000 miles on my Prius - 2004 Toyota Prius
By Barry - October 5 - 6:30 pmI have an 04 Prius with 117000 miles on it. In the earlier years I had all the problems with the car stalling or not wanting to keep going, but Toyota finally resolved those issues with software upgrades and recalls. For the past 3 years Ive had no problems. At 112000 miles I needed a new water pump, but otherwise Ive had no mechanical issues. The battery is fine. I drive exclusively on local roads, 40 miles each way to work, and get 48 mpg during the winter (New Hampshire winters are brutal) and am now getting 57 mpg in the Springtime. The car gets significantly less gas mileage if I only use it for short hops (5-10 miles) or if I drive on the highway.
