  • Like this car, but have had problems - 2004 Toyota Prius
    By -

I was one of first in my area to purchase this model. For the first 18 months it was a great car, although the display needed to be replaced. Then it broke down on me (computer failure) at 18 months (15,000 miles). The computer was replaced, and immediately my MPG went down significantly. My 54 MPG highway went to 44 MPG highway for the same route (same seasonal temperature). My local MPG went from 41 to 35 MPG. Dealer thought the software recall/upgrade would help but it has not. Others seem to report this problem. Dealer has not offered any solutions. Aside from these problems, I have enjoyed this car, but I want my great MPG back!

This is a great car. The main problem is that youll have to pay more than the sticker since the car has such a long waiting list (about 5 to 6 months for the popular colors and packages). I was surprised at the roominess of this car. Lots of leg room in the back seats. Also, the engine power is good too. I live on a steep hill and the car has no problems making it up. I highly recommend this car, although if you are buying it mainly to save money on gas, I dont think it would be worth it since it is usually marked up quite a bit by the dealers.

  • Best car I ever owned - 2004 Toyota Prius

This is my second hybrid, and I am very satisfied with it. Despite the hilly country in which we live, our mpg ranges in the mid 40s. The care itself has a firm , reliable feel to it, and its responses are quick.

  • Love My Prius! - 2004 Toyota Prius

I love this car! It is so much fun to drive and so comfortable that my husband and I drove from NJ to Georgia direct with only the basic stops along the way and still felt refreshed when we arrived. The car is averaging anywheres from 48 mpg to 59, however, we have already gotten over 60 mpg on occasion.

  • Waited for months, love this car! - 2004 Toyota Prius

This car is a no compromise vehicle. Not only do you get terrific styling, size and performance, but it is incredibly gentle on the environment at an affordable price. The "wow" features such as smart entry and start, GPS navigation and the LCD information screen are options usually found on cars twice as expensive. This is an amazing improvement on the previous Prius.

  • Unexpected Problems - 2004 Toyota Prius
    By -

I purchased a Prius sight unseen on Sept 29, 2004. I was told by my dealership, that my exact speced car they would be able to tell me when I would get the car in early October. In mid-November I called and the tune had changed...maybe theyd know by Feb 2004. In January they called me...I had a shot at a Prius..not the one I wanted...or I might have to wait half a year more. It was a trac car with 730 miles..they gave me 15 cents a mile, and I had to pay MSRP. Also, because I live in a small market repairs may be a problem (only 1 other prius sold by this dealer). You relly have to want his car to put up with what is going down.

  • Dominos Prius Update! - 2004 Toyota Prius

Wrote a review about my Dominos stores Prius! Updating it! We now have 3 Priuss! Two 04s and an 05! The one I wrote about before is an 04 which now has 220k mi on it and still no problems! It never breaks down or gives up! And it gets driven HARD by many different drivers! The battery still holds charge pretty well, not quite as well as our other Priuss but still returns over 50mpg if driven frugally. Our other 04 Prius has 160k mi and runs great! Same with our 05 that has 120k mi! These vehicles are workhorses! You want a reliable, affordable commuter or work car! This is the one! If it can deliver pizzas, it can do anything!

the car is very comfortable to travel in,also it has a very smooth ride, the only problem i have seen is that when there is even a light rain you really need rain shields because of the water that runs in on the door panels,at the present time i use a small towel to put over the elec palels on each door to keep them dry...
