Overview & Reviews
The 2006 Toyota Prius gets a tire-pressure monitor this year, along with an optional backup camera. Exterior styling is refreshed with new headlights and taillight clusters, while the interior receives darker seat fabric and a textured instrument panel center. Leather seating with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and an audio mini-jack port are newly optional.
- Outstanding mileage, ultralow emissions, generous amount of interior room, hatchback utility, reasonable price, excellent build quality.

Toyota prius nearing 500k miles - 2006 Toyota Prius
By JOSEPH S. - December 30 - 5:27 pmI've owned a lot of cars. This prius is by far the most dependable, least amount of maintenance, and best mpg vehicle I've ever owned. I started using an oil additive after 200k miles and I'm currently at 492k miles. Still runs like the day I got it. My only issue is I'm getting tired of looking at it, but I refuse to buy a new prius till this engine quits.

Toyota Hits the Mark - 2006 Toyota Prius
By John - December 29 - 8:33 pmHands down the best car available. Toyota has really hit the mark with all of the fantastic state of the art features that this car contains. Well done!!! The touch screen display, 9 speaker 6 disc MP3 playing stereo, hands-free bluetooth, smart key system, is everything I could have wanted in a vehicle. Not to mention I am getting 54 miles per gallon!!! Bravo, I cant wait for the next generation.

Prius 2006 - 2006 Toyota Prius
By Hue - December 15 - 12:36 amI thought for months about purchasing this car. Prior to finalizing the deal I experienced "buyers remorse"; however, since purchasing it, I have not regretted for a minute acquiring this fun little car. The gas and commuting time I have saved have been an added bonus.

Toyota Prius - 2006 Toyota Prius
By Melissa - December 5 - 9:16 pmDrives very smoothly. While this car isnt a speed demon, it accelerates respectably and is fun to drive (you get to laugh at the SUV drivers shelling out their money for gas). Nice hatchback design - the trunk is surprisingly roomy. The interior design is also very sleek and modern-looking. The actual mileage I get isnt quite as good as the displayed mileage, but the Prius is far more efficient than nearly every other car. Overall, I have been very happy with my Prius.

Prius, A Real Winner - 2006 Toyota Prius
By Ron M - December 3 - 8:43 amThis car has everything. Its technology at it best. The Prius feels larger than it is. The interior is spacious, Storage and cargo space is quite large. Batteries are underneath the car rather than in the cargo area. The Prius accelerates suprisingly fast. It handles and feels like a mid-size car. The $3100.00 Federal tax creit for the first 60,000 units sold in 2006 is a real bonus. Tax credits are gradually reduced 50%, then 25%. Toyota estimates that 15,000 will be sold each month through 2006. I cannot say enough good things about this automobile. Consumer Reports rates this car as a hybrid best and the repair records show that the car has been nearly flawless for the last 2 years.

The Little Red hybrid that could - 2006 Toyota Prius
By CE - November 25 - 9:43 pmQuite responsive. Enjoyed the smooth take off with the absence of shifting quite noticable. Plenty of snap for passing, especially considering only a 1.5 liter. Breaking and cornering very nice... smooth. At first thought the small steering wheel felt strange but now enjoy the extra room it facilitates along with ease of control.

Fun and practical car - 2006 Toyota Prius
By RJC - November 20 - 5:50 amI have driven my 2005 Prius nearly 30K miles and have little to complain about. I average 43/44 MPG on interstate highways at 80 MPH average. Best mileage per tank was 51 MPG. No complaints at my average speed and no problems for the car to handle 90+ MPH. Utility of car is a very pleasant surprise as storage space with rear seats folded down is impressive. Bluetooth doesnt work very well but NAV system is much better than on my wifes Lexus. Wind noice at high speeds is my only complaint as well as "feeling" road surfaces a bit more than larger car. I will gladly accept this tradeoff however for this great car.

We love it! - 2006 Toyota Prius
By Marion - November 1 - 5:50 pmWe knew we wanted to take advantage of the Federal tax break and our State tax break which was no sales tax! But we figure we have saved over $500 so far this year in gas! Our other car gets 26 MPG or so, and were getting 50 MPG in our Prius. Putting on lots of miles because its so economical to drive-- and fun!
