Overview & Reviews
GXE is available with a new Limited Edition package, which includes goodies like an eight-way power driver seat, remote keyless entry, floor mats, special badging and a security system.
- Fun to drive, strong reliability record, big rebates.
- Tinny construction, lacking powertrain refinement, vanilla personality.

Ok, but disappointed - 2001 Nissan Altima
By JLPearl - December 31 - 11:16 amI was disappointed in this car. Have heard foriegn cars are better, and this was my first one - no more for me. Check engine light came on before we even got it home! Went round & round with the dealer who finally agreed to the repair - intake manifold gasket (exact same problem I had with my GM!) Car sits low - it will rust, even if you constantly wash it. Car is light and has a rough ride - feel every bump in the road. Exterior trim started falling off one day for no reason. Power drivers window was very sluggish. Gas mileage was horrid - I the best I got was 24mpg. I went back to GM and am happier. I get 28-30mpg consistently with my current full size GM product (V6).

Ole Reliable - 2001 Nissan Altima
By Allie - September 27 - 10:00 amThe car has been very reliable and fun to drive. It is very precise in turning and braking. There is a couple of things that I would change. When you are some course pavement, the sunglass holder vibrates as well as the hubcaps making noise going over bumps. It also seems to have a fair amount of road noise. The car is a bargain at the price and I would buy another one.

RUNRUNRUN - 2001 Nissan Altima
By RunLikeCrazy - September 20 - 2:00 amI have a 2001 Nissan Altima. It is a beautiful car. That I will admit. There are some issues with the car that is too long for me to go into. Look at other cars like Toyota or Honda before purchasing your Altima. If you really need a Nissan, I suggest the Sentra.

2001 GXE Limited Edition - 2001 Nissan Altima
By JWR - September 20 - 2:00 amComfortable car to drive. Rear suspension problems. Replaced the bushings on the rear sway bar twice. Just replaced a defective speed regulator on the driver side power window. Service department at the local dealer is very poor when it comes to customer service.

not so good ride.... - 2001 Nissan Altima
By cpark - September 9 - 10:00 ami got about 26000 miles. engine is pretty good. but it burns a lot of gases. worst ride quality that i never had. tight supension that gives you wonderful corner handling. has pretty good standard feature. in dash 6 cd, fog lamp, and on. valuable price. i like that titanium silver gauge. horrible transmission. cant even see at night time. headlight is real dark. even if you turn on high beam, that darker than other cars low beam. not too good, not too bad car.

Good Car - 2001 Nissan Altima
By Hitesh - June 5 - 8:43 pmWe have had this car for 7 years now and it has been great all along. The car is very smooth in running and the handling is great as well.It is a great family car. Though it doesnt seat 5 in the most comfortable manner it still is a great car. Of late the fuel economy has been a bit on the disappointing side. I also am a bit disappointed with the trade-in value of the car as I am looking to trade-in this car for the new Altima later this year. Overall a great car.

Ready to Trade - 2001 Nissan Altima
By missd - May 4 - 10:00 amI did months of research and the Altima was one of the ones that ranked high on my list. I purchased the 01 Limited Edition model and obviously this model was not included in the high-rated reviews I kept reading about. My car has died 3 times in one week, starter problems. I have to wait for it to die again and then have it towed to the mechanic for troubleshooting. The drivers side mirror vibrates on bumpy roads and when the CD is in use. No explanation or repair available. The ride isnt as smooth as I would like and the drivers side door doesnt want to close completely... go figure. Im going to look into a 03 Accord.

187,000 miles - 2001 Nissan Altima
By Rick - May 2 - 6:43 pmI bought my 2001 Altima GXE limited edition new. The car has never failed to start, but I have been dumping in money lately. I have replaced the manifold gasket twice, the driver window motor, and both rear window motors need replacing. I have also put on 4 new struts. The wheel covers are very noisy. When everything is fixed on it I do enjoy driving it. Get around 23-25 miles per gallon.

Reliable So far, Easy to work on. - 2001 Nissan Altima
By Pat Masole - April 20 - 8:56 pmI have the Sporty version and its not bad at all. Its easy to work on and reliable so far. It runs good, and cruses pretty solid at 80-90mph on the Interstate. Its a decent, solid, and sound lil car. I would be afraid to take off anywhere in it. Mine has 167k, and I feel 200k+ is very do- able. The have a that strong little 2.4 dohc that come in the legendary hardbody pick up.
