Overview & Reviews
GXE is available with a new Limited Edition package, which includes goodies like an eight-way power driver seat, remote keyless entry, floor mats, special badging and a security system.
- Fun to drive, strong reliability record, big rebates.
- Tinny construction, lacking powertrain refinement, vanilla personality.

2001 GXE Limited Edition - 2001 Nissan Altima
By JWR - September 20 - 2:00 amComfortable car to drive. Rear suspension problems. Replaced the bushings on the rear sway bar twice. Just replaced a defective speed regulator on the driver side power window. Service department at the local dealer is very poor when it comes to customer service.

Ready to Trade - 2001 Nissan Altima
By missd - May 4 - 10:00 amI did months of research and the Altima was one of the ones that ranked high on my list. I purchased the 01 Limited Edition model and obviously this model was not included in the high-rated reviews I kept reading about. My car has died 3 times in one week, starter problems. I have to wait for it to die again and then have it towed to the mechanic for troubleshooting. The drivers side mirror vibrates on bumpy roads and when the CD is in use. No explanation or repair available. The ride isnt as smooth as I would like and the drivers side door doesnt want to close completely... go figure. Im going to look into a 03 Accord.

187,000 miles - 2001 Nissan Altima
By Rick - May 2 - 6:43 pmI bought my 2001 Altima GXE limited edition new. The car has never failed to start, but I have been dumping in money lately. I have replaced the manifold gasket twice, the driver window motor, and both rear window motors need replacing. I have also put on 4 new struts. The wheel covers are very noisy. When everything is fixed on it I do enjoy driving it. Get around 23-25 miles per gallon.

Reliable So far, Easy to work on. - 2001 Nissan Altima
By Pat Masole - April 20 - 8:56 pmI have the Sporty version and its not bad at all. Its easy to work on and reliable so far. It runs good, and cruses pretty solid at 80-90mph on the Interstate. Its a decent, solid, and sound lil car. I would be afraid to take off anywhere in it. Mine has 167k, and I feel 200k+ is very do- able. The have a that strong little 2.4 dohc that come in the legendary hardbody pick up.

Whats up with the Windows? - 2001 Nissan Altima
By mrmnico - March 29 - 10:00 amPurchased July,01 I have since had Chopped Tires. An authorized center credited me on the tread left on tire and replaced. Power Windows were not opening and closing properly. first the rear on the passanger side. It was fixed under warranty. Couople weeks ago (Aug, 03) my front passanger window and rear drvier side window are now doing the same thing. This issue was fixed once again under warranty, well guess what, First Week of Sept03 DRIVER SIDE WIN. IS DOING THE SAME THING! thats all 4 windows with the same problem. I was interested in purchasing the SE Crewcab Frontier, but with these dilemas it makes me weary on purchasing the Frontier.

Bad Nissan Experience - 2001 Nissan Altima
By Carlos Chiari - November 26 - 10:00 amI read before I purchased the car issues regarding "vibrations at high speeds". When I test drove it, it seemed fine, so I purchased it. After 3,000 miles the shake developed and i took it into the dealership. Conveniently, they "werent able to reproduce the shake;" hence, unable to fix it. After 3 visits, they still cant "replicate it". Ugh! Second gear also shifts rough - another thing they cant fix. Now my engines making a "metallic scratching noise", which - yup you guessed it - they cant replicate. This is my first and last Nissan. Im going back to overpriced Hondas....

OK for a town car, getting costly - 2001 Nissan Altima
By OK town car - July 8 - 10:00 amWe bought this car new and had the power windows go out while sitting in Yuma,AZ in 110 degree weather..after having the dealer replace two and a recall was issued and all were replaced by Nissan. We have 95,000 on it and have replaced the defective intake manifold gasket twice..replaced the radiator, cv boots and axles..and it eats brake shoes quite regularly. Just had the check engine soon..now the catalytic converter is shot, $700 or so. Noisy hubcaps are a tradition with this model.
