This Year's Model Updates:

Mazda has strengthened the Millenia's body structure to improve torsional rigidity 30 percent. Combined with a new rear stabilizer bar and a larger front stabilizer bar, improved handling is the result. Visually, the car should be more appealing thanks to new front and rear styling. The interior has been updated significantly, as well. Hardware changes include larger disc brakes, a revised ABS system and standard side airbags for both models.

Pros:
  • Improved exterior styling and interior design, supercharged Millenia S engine, competitive price.
Cons:
  • Cramped interior, no navigation system available, aging platform.

  • One Sweet Car! - 2001 Mazda Millenia

Quite possibly the most enjoyable car, overall, I have driven in 30 years. For starters, my all-black car is beautiful, with sleek and subtle lines, perfect wheels and low, wide tires. Its quiet and happy on highways, handles great on curves. Interior is tasteful, functional, virtually flawless. Id like maybe a bit more lumbar support in adjustable drivers side. Enthusiasts might find the center hump interferes with spirited driving. My elbow hits it regularly. All-in-all, truly classic and classy. Wish theyd bring it back! My dad recently leased an 05 Mercedes E320 and is so overwhelmed with the superfluous technology that hed rather trade with me! Seriously!

have owned cadillacs, lincoln, bmw, acura and many others. leased this car for 3 yrs, was tired of high priced cars that did not live up to thier expectations. loved it so much i purchased it after lease. great price and lots of bang for your buck. Never been to the dealer, only oil changes and new tires, and brakes after 40k miles.

I bought this car used with 120k, drove 2 years and 20k miles before car was totaled by insurance company. Did well in the accident, no injuries despite drivers side impact. Fun to drive, sporty, sharp rims, great stereo. Minor, inexpensive repairs: thermostat, motor mounts and a fuse. A/C compressor was starting to go out. Visor mirror and one vent cover came unglued otherwise interior looked almost new. Took on lots of highway trips for work and did great at high speeds, comfortable on long drives. Adjustable seats and steering wheel give a good custom fit for the driver. My mechanic said it was a great car, I would buy another mazda in a heartbeat. Got about 18/24 mpg.

  • engine lights - 2001 Mazda Millenia

i love my mazda except for all the engine lights coming on even though nothing is wrong with my car. It still cost alot every time I take it to the dealership. Like $1000.It only stays off a few months. Now both the engine light and the air bag light are both on. I have75000 miles on my car and this has happened about 10 times. I would NOT recommend it or buy another for this reason.

  • Outstanding, Understated, and Overlooked - 2001 Mazda Millenia

Ive owned the Mazda Millenia S, which I purchased from a dealer off lease return for several years now. Ive always thought that the car was underappreciated for its lovely styling. Okay, its not a head turner, but I think it is one of the more attractive cars out there. It is completely rock solid. Spartan compared to say Lexus, but has everything I need/want. Too bad they quit making this lovely car.

  • still love it after all of these years - 2001 Mazda Millenia

Bought it new in 01 and have about 105000 miles on it. I still love it! Its a sharp looking car and extremely comfortable, even for someone pretty large (62", 300) No major repairs, just fairly normal maintenance. The steering wheel that automatically raises when you take the key out and lowers to your pre-selected driving position when you put the key in is getting fussy in cold weather and stays in the up position, but Ive simply turned off the auto feature for the winter and will reset come springtime. Ill keep her until she falls apart around me.

  • Positive comments all around. - 2001 Mazda Millenia

Its a shame Mazda stopped building the Millenia. I bought mine used and have put nearly 130,000 miles on it. It has given me no problems at all other than a Check Engine light that seems to think theres a problem. The drive is very satisfying; think of the Millenia as a big Miata. The ride is smooth and quiet and it is generally a very comfortable car. The interior is classy and it comes without the gimmicks of high-end technology. Storage space is good with enough cup holders for everybody and a wide trunk. A folding rear seat would be nice. Mazda did not put enough effort into marketing the Millenia and giving it a competitive price tag. I think it would have been a very successful car.

  • Fine Car - 2001 Mazda Millenia

The Millenia has been a fine car for me. It gets good gas mileage, about 28 on the road and 22 in town, and the 2.5 liter 170 horse engine has plenty of zip. I have not had one moments problem with it. I like the extra storage space in the doors with latchable covers on them. Comfort is great for long trips. Ive never had a car that was as comfortable. The leather seats are great.

  • The only car that Ill ever buy - 2001 Mazda Millenia
    By -

I brought this car home brand new from the dealership and fell in love with the car as soon as I saw it in the parking lot. The car looks great and people even mistake it for a Lexus or Infiniti. I paid $29,000 rather that the original price of $32,700. But I had the fuel tank door replaced under warranty because it opened when it wanted to and the Bose radio was replaced also under warranty because my CD got stuck and I could only use the radio. But other than that the car is a dream and I recommend it to anyone who wants a good looking car at a decent price.
