This Year's Model Updates:

Mazda has strengthened the Millenia's body structure to improve torsional rigidity 30 percent. Combined with a new rear stabilizer bar and a larger front stabilizer bar, improved handling is the result. Visually, the car should be more appealing thanks to new front and rear styling. The interior has been updated significantly, as well. Hardware changes include larger disc brakes, a revised ABS system and standard side airbags for both models.

Pros:
  • Improved exterior styling and interior design, supercharged Millenia S engine, competitive price.
Cons:
  • Cramped interior, no navigation system available, aging platform.

  • A RARE CAR WORTHY OF MORE ATTENTION - 2001 Mazda Millenia
    By -

I purchased my 2001 Mazda Millenia in 2002 brand new as a left over. The dealership was discounting this car $10,000 off the sticker price of $35,000 (sticker included chrome wheels, 4 seasons package, heated seats, and bose in dash 5 cd system). This car has been an excellent value to me. I really enjoy and look forward to driving it

  • Beware of Tranny - 2001 Mazda Millenia
    By -

I had this car about 1 year before tranny went out, and had it replaced. Mazda did help out though so I give them props. They paid for the tranny, and I paid for the labor. It was only 1,000 miles over warranty at the time. This cars interior and exterior is awesome, best bang for the buck. It really is a dog of the line, but 3rd gear and up performs ok. The rubber around the lights peels off. The paint has a defect in the side mirrors which causes them to chip off really bad. You can usually take them to Mazda and have it replaced for free. Oh, and the gas mileage of this car is horrid; check the forums. Everyone is complaining that their cars are getting nowhere near MPG that Mazda states.

  • This car rocks! - 2001 Mazda Millenia

We have owned our Millenia S now for a year and it had been an awesome car! The looks turn heads everywhere we go and the quality could not be better. We paid approx. $8,000 less than a comparable Acura/Lexus and we are really glad that we did. ZOOM ZOOM!!

  • Projected Reliability - 2001 Mazda Millenia
    By -

Purchased this car from the showroom - Brand new it looked inviting, but as it turned out, everything that could go wrong...went wrong - I had to have constant expensive repairs - Right after the warranty ran out, I purchased another warranty costing 2,000.00 for another 5 years, but the auto adjustable steering column jammed and none of it was covered - Costs over 600.00 to repair - The engine (problem) light has spent more time being on, than off - Just about everything that you can replace on an engine, had to be replaced - The catalytic converter has to be replaced at a cost of over 2,000.00 again ! - And all this well before the car has 60,000 miles on it - Projected reliability ???

  • Mazda could do better - 2001 Mazda Millenia

After owning a Lexus for the last 5 years, I decided to try something different to lower car payments. Ive had the Millinea for a couple of weeks now and have come to some conclusions. The styling of the car is nice outside and in. I like the dashboard, its layed out nice. The ride is quiet and smooth. The engine seems to hesitate when you first step on the gas, which I find annoying. The latch covers in the back for the child safety seats keep popping open. If I could do it all over again, I would opt for an Acura or back to another Lexus.

  • Nice Quality! - 2001 Mazda Millenia

We bought this car a year ago used. Had previously owned a 626 and MPV and heard good things about this car and its value. One of the best cars weve owned! Fast, smooth, quiet and handles well, too. Nice leather seats and luxury features. Too bad its discontinued!

  • Under Valued - 2001 Mazda Millenia

I think Mazda should really consider re-making the MMS! Ive ave. btwn 22 and 28mpg. Its grt on the highway and has plnty of pep when you need it. The leather dsnt get too warm when the sun beats on it all day. Recently had the opp to take a long ride w/ 4 adults and 1 child. We had plenty of room inside for of us. Lumbar sppt is a nice add on during long trips. I dont inticipate using the seat wrmers too much here in So. Cal. but the car is complete to say the least. Yes it would be nice to have a navigation system but for those on the go, Garmin 2620 is far better than factory installed ones Ive come accross and cost much less.

  • Sweet Ride - 2001 Mazda Millenia

I love this car! I refused to be part of the Camry/Accord lemming stampede: Millenia provided me the perfect alternative/upgrade to them. You will not find a car that matches its fine- featured appointments, standard equipment, reputation for reliability, or performance at a better price. Check out Consumer Reports Used Car Buyer Guides and it is listed as a recommended buy. It just rocks!

  • Unbeatable for the take home price - 2001 Mazda Millenia

This is a vehicle with a elagant and unique look. I quite often recieve favorable comments and questions regarding the car. I bought a fully loaded black/silver s model with spoiler,cd changer and everything else for 26,800. Seems like a steal compared to the Lexus, Acura and Infiniti the Millenia is always compared against. It has performed very well and except for resale value (no problem since I love the car), I am completely satisfied.

  • Gregs review - 2001 Mazda Millenia

This is the second Millenia I have owned and have had excellent success with both. I like the ride, the feel of the car and the style. With the discounts the mfgr and dealers are shooting you can get a real value on a quality car. The power is definitely there with the Miller engine on this car. With the 17" tires and other qualities, a mixture of luxury and sports car is evident.
