Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Liberty gets stability control as standard equipment on all models for 2006. The four-cylinder gas engine has been dropped, however, due to a lack of consumer interest.
- Extremely capable off-road, economical diesel engine option, creative interior design.
- V6 is rather thirsty at the pump, not as "carlike" on the street as most of its competitors.

Still in the honeymoon phase - 2006 Jeep Liberty
By Nancy - December 22 - 9:20 amSo my ratings could be a bit slanted however, I love this car. It handles great, has a lot of giddy-up and looks good in my driveway. I havent had to make any repairs yet but I have discovered a definite drop in the mileage since my oil needs changing right now. Not as much space as my Suburban but I definitely love not paying $100 to fill up my car. All in all, a nice, luxurious SUV with all the bells and whistles. The Sirius radio is a nice perk.

Regulators in windows - 2006 Jeep Liberty
By Mary Ann - December 18 - 10:26 amThe regulator has gone out 3 times on my back drivers side window. Once on the passenger side window. The dealership is charging to fix this each time. It continues to happen, so they arent fixing it. I am so tried of this. I would have never bought this vehicle had I known. I bought it new.

Windows Problem - 2006 Jeep Liberty
By Diane - December 5 - 3:16 amIve owned this Liberty less than 3 years. Since then 3 windows have stopped working: left rear window 2xs; left front window 1x. The left front is starting to go out again. When the vehicle was under warranty, Chrysler fixed the first 2 broken windows. Im a high mileage driver: 25,000 miles/year. The vehicle is out of warranty DUE TO MILES and Chrysler will not cover fixing the third window. I would understand if the window had something to do with miles and it wore out. Its obviously a defective part & Chrysler wont stand behind their parts. Be prepared to pay appx. $450 to get the window fixed out of warranty. On a good note, the engine is great at 64,000 miles. No problems there.

CDL - 2006 Jeep Liberty
By bill given - November 25 - 7:40 amIn the first week it had to be towed in due to a computer glitch. In the second week the gas gauge failed. The third week brought 3 pieces of trim falling off. The 4 th week brought an air conditioner failure. After owning 4 Grand Cherokees, the Liberty is a real disappointment. The drivers seat is too high to see out the front window if you are six feet tall. In the first month of ownership and 3300 miles of driving, I have come to dislike my new car. I will just look forward to a year down the road and a trade.

Jeep-Burt! - 2006 Jeep Liberty
By Krista - November 11 - 6:40 pmI have never had any trouble with owning a Jeep. This is now the second Jeep Liberty that I have owned. I have noticed that the 2005 model drives a little smoother. I have noticed that when the wind is blowing hard and driving on the highway that the change in the suspension has helped out tremendously in the new model. Also, they put the window controls in a smarter place in the 2005 model. But you could never go wrong with a Jeep!

Most Unreliable Vehicle Ever Owned - 2006 Jeep Liberty
By George - September 14 - 8:10 amThis piece of junk has made me return to my original policy of buying only Japanese motor vehicles ! This past weekend, I suffered my 3rd and 4th window regulator failures within a few hours of each other. Really wish that I had done internet research before making a decision to buy this thing. My two broken windows are now held in the up position with duct tape, as I can not afford the repair cost. Numerous other costly repair problems also.

Liberty!?! DONT BUY ONE - 2006 Jeep Liberty
By dawniredskins - August 14 - 5:10 pmI bought my 2006 liberty sprt 4wd (3.7l 6 cyl manual) in 11/06 brand new. First visit to the shop was 01/09/07 for Windows/e-brake/pass air bag light. Since then (06/05/08) it has been to the dealership now 11 times- most of which--window problems, e- brake, etc. Also having trouble "weak clutch" or tranny. Dealer says. Only could duplicate one time, so "oh well". Never ever will I own another Jeep. Especially a liberty. And it is not comfortable. And no space up front at all. Glove box is so tiny, the owners manual and cool jacket it came with doesnt even fit! Id look elsewhere. Chrysler has 31 TSBs out on 06 liberties. That should say something!

Jury still out - 2006 Jeep Liberty
By JimWalker - July 24 - 9:06 pmI have submitted an earlier rating, "My Jury is still out". That was with 1000 miles. My main concern was MPG in my new Diesel, about 20. Its gotten worse after 3000 miles, 18. I am a very conservative driver with 80% of of my driving highway. I am returning the car to the dealer with instructions to check out the engine and transmission. In order to shift into the top gear I have to run the car up to 65 and then coast back to the desired speed. I spend more time watching the tach than the speedo. I hope the dealer can do something because I enjoy driving the car. The main reason for me purchasing the diesel was for the fuel economy.

Windows Suck - 2006 Jeep Liberty
By jeepmadness - July 16 - 12:49 pmI bought a used one with 10,000 miles. I immediatley started having trouble with the windows. I paid a $100 deductable six times to have this problem fixed, and it has never been fully resolved. My back drivers side window is now being held up this a suction cup purchased at harbor freight for 5.99. The 5.99 suction cup has served me much better then anyone at Jeff Wyler, Ft. Thomas. I have yet to be reimbursed from Chrysler for my previous expenses and Jeff Wyler wants to charge me $80 to look at the problem to see if it will be covered by the extended warranty now offered due to the problem. Every window part should be included for this car due to the inconvenience. Dont buy the 2006!

Never Buy Another One - 2006 Jeep Liberty
By Geraldine Ahrens - May 19 - 8:40 pmI probably wont buy any Chrysler product again. The windows of this Jeep have been fixed 5 times, (I see many other people have the same problem) and the car only has 15,000 miles on it. The panel for adjusting the mirrors keeps falling inside the door panel and has to be fished out. The dealership is good about fixing the windows, but what happens when the warranty runs out? The Jeep handles well on the road, the stabilizing feature works well, and overall I like driving it. This was my first American made car in years, (I have had VW, Nissan and Hyundai) but I am very disappointed in the craftsmanship of the quality of the Jeep.
