This Year's Model Updates:

The Jeep Liberty gets stability control as standard equipment on all models for 2006. The four-cylinder gas engine has been dropped, however, due to a lack of consumer interest.

Pros:
  • Extremely capable off-road, economical diesel engine option, creative interior design.
Cons:
  • V6 is rather thirsty at the pump, not as "carlike" on the street as most of its competitors.

  • Still in the honeymoon phase - 2006 Jeep Liberty

So my ratings could be a bit slanted however, I love this car. It handles great, has a lot of giddy-up and looks good in my driveway. I havent had to make any repairs yet but I have discovered a definite drop in the mileage since my oil needs changing right now. Not as much space as my Suburban but I definitely love not paying $100 to fill up my car. All in all, a nice, luxurious SUV with all the bells and whistles. The Sirius radio is a nice perk.

  • Regulators in windows - 2006 Jeep Liberty
    By -

The regulator has gone out 3 times on my back drivers side window. Once on the passenger side window. The dealership is charging to fix this each time. It continues to happen, so they arent fixing it. I am so tried of this. I would have never bought this vehicle had I known. I bought it new.

I have never had any trouble with owning a Jeep. This is now the second Jeep Liberty that I have owned. I have noticed that the 2005 model drives a little smoother. I have noticed that when the wind is blowing hard and driving on the highway that the change in the suspension has helped out tremendously in the new model. Also, they put the window controls in a smarter place in the 2005 model. But you could never go wrong with a Jeep!

  • Goodbye Ford! - 2006 Jeep Liberty

20 year Ford Explorer driver, never thought for a minute I would look at another brand. Fell in LOVE with my new Liberty at first sight, then knew I was driving it home after a test drive. Handles like a dream, excellent power, and lets be honest, its one hot lookin SUV!

  • Going Again - 2006 Jeep Liberty

Last year in October I had to go car shopping and bought a Jeep Liberty Sport 4x2. This year I wanted to upgrade to a 4x4 with all the toys. The pricing is right at this moment with the Employee Pricing and all rebates available. This new 2006 Renegade feels bigger than my 2005 Sport. I am averaging 18 MPG driving, 30% stop and go with 70% freeway so far. This is a solid performer and I have not had a chance to go off road with it but it drives great in town.

  • Great Mountain Tow Vehicle - 2006 Jeep Liberty
    By -

My 1st Jeep was a Wrangler, then had a 2002 Liberty Limited, then a 2006 Liberty Limited. Im looking to buy a 2010 Liberty Limited because Im so happy with these Jeeps. It pulls a 15 boat/trailer in the mountains. I load kayaks on the top and 4-wheel it the rivers. I go skiing in the winter. The low gas mileage is a trade off for the muscle the Jeep has.

  • CRD is perfect - Currently running B20 - 2006 Jeep Liberty
    By -

Love the CRD, bought all options except for the hands free and satellite radio. Wish I would have purchased the hands free cell device, as my cell and radio dont like each other. Love all about it. I run biodiesel B-20 in it, which it loves! Window levers are in a stupid spot, and drivers seat is a little high, as I lose some vision and Im not that tall. Other than that, its perfect! Road noise is minimal, heated seats are wonderful, Mileage is awesome! Would suggest anyone interested in saving money and looking for a diesel engine without spending loads of cash purchase a CRD Liberty 4X4.

  • Excellent Job Jeep! - 2006 Jeep Liberty

I love this SUV. I turn heads driving down the freeway. Love the sunroof and heated seats. The people at Jeep/Chrysler are very experienced, and know how to make a small SUV. I got the 3.7L V6, but also tested the CRD. I like how the V6 is very quiet. Ride is very smooth, compliant and comfortable.

  • Love Love Love this car - 2006 Jeep Liberty

Started leasing this car almost 3 years ago, and couldnt be happier with it. Only problem I ever had was the back wiper stopped working twice when I first got the car. I also had to get new brake pads and rotors but that was according to STS so who knows if I actually needed that done. SO much fun to drive, lots of power, love the available 4WD for when it snows. Mileage, of course, could be better. The lease is almost up and my dad is pushing me to get a dodge...I cried all the way home tonight thinking of how much I will miss my Jeep if I go through with the dodge deal :( I would love to have this car forever and ever and ever if I could.

  • Great all around Performer - 2006 Jeep Liberty
    By -

I bought my 2006 Jeep Liberty Sport here in Reno on 05-29-2006. It has great performance and handles great as well. It corners well, and has a lot of power for its size. I was impressed with its climbing abilities and the overall smoothness of the ride. It goes everywhere and is suitable for runs to the grocery store, taking the family to dinner as well as all of the outdoor activities that you expect a Jeep to be used for. The steering is a little numb (better keep an eye on the speedometer - youre going faster than you think!) and the 3.7 V-6 is a little thirsty at the pump, but it does have 210 HP and quick acceleration, so the trade off is well worth it. All in all, I give it 4.75 stars out of 5.
