  • If you dont own one maybe you should - 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan

This is our second Dodge van, the first one a 2003 we tried to save money on and bought the Caravan SXT with no features. Never had any trouble with this van at all and really liked it. Until all the incentives came out and we upgraded for less money to the Grand Caravan. If you have kids, upgrade. You wont be sorry. Convenient hooks for grocery bags all over the place. 3 zone control. I never wanted a minivan, now I wouldnt be without it, kids or no kids. For the money, I dont think you will find a better deal. Started buying Dodge products 4 years ago and I have yet to schedule a service call. Sometimes you get lucky, and sometimes products are just that good?

We bought this van new and within the first year the driver side sliding door mechanism broke and wasnt covered under warranty. Year 2 the air conditioner stopped working and air bag light came on and has perpetually been on since (no one cn figure out whats wrong with it)and year 3 its been in the shop 3 times; brakes replaced, broken water pump and bad EGR valve. Its so disappointing to have such a popular and common vehicle have so many issues.

  • Great Riding Van! - 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan

My husband has worked for General motors for 31 years, and felt very guilty even looking at a Dodge! (At least it is American made). But this mini van had everything we were looking for that we couldnt find in a GM van. We love the stow and go seating, that was the main selling point, along with the auto sliding doors and tail gate and the three zone climate control. This all comes in handy with our two large labs. The van is much quieter than our previous Chevy and the ride is very smooth.

  • Dependable Van many miles to come.... - 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan

We purchased this van for vacation & winded up loving it. I drive 2000+ miles a month with my job now and really enjoy the van. Have all the comfort features like leather, dvd, power everything as well. We come from sports cars but like luxury and this van has it all for us. Not the sports car feel but still has power to merge into traffic and get a jump at the stop light if need be w/out any problems. I would buy again & yes, Dodge treats us well. Weve owned 21 vehicles in 12 years and weve had this 1 the longest. Kids really enjoy it as well as they have lots of room. No real problems other then rack & pinion went out. Dealer took car of it. Best mpg 29.8 worst 18, Mobile 1 syn. oil helps.

  • Some quirks - 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan

Drives well. Love the Stow N Go. Power doors sometimes will not respond not enough so the dealer would think I was not crazy. Cup holders placed on sides of seats where kids can forget them and step on them thus breaking them. Floorboard creaks a bit,squeeks..whatever. The carpet in 3rd row actually looks bowed down a bit as if giving. But it drives and handles well.

This car has been one of the worst minivans that we have purchased. Within the first year we have already put more than $1000 of work into it. The interior is very poorly designed. The air vents blow in your face. The automatic hatch works 1/2 of the time. The only good thing about it is the stow n go.

  • Worry Free Travel - 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan

The 1300 mile drive to Georgia and back was a plesant driving experience. We found out first hand about its handling capability as far as manuvering around road debris. We had to swerve around large chunks of tires a couple of times and didnt feel the least bit uncomfortable as far as feeling like we might roll over or lose control. Excellent in my book. We plan on several trips to Georgia and back, and look forward to doing it in this vehicle.

  • Excellent Family Transportation - 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan

I started out leasing this van because of what I heard about Chryslers reliability and (at the time) corporate stability. That was 40 months ago. My lease ran out last month, and I bought the van. Why? I havent had any significant trouble with the van in 30k miles. Its overkill for a 1 person commute but it is excellent for carpooling and family vacations. When we travel (fam of 4) we put down 1/2 rear seat for the cooler. My son brings his playstation and plays it through overhead video & wireless headphones. Tip: the middle seats are much more comfortable if you put up the headrests. Noticed slight mpg bump with K&N filter. Though lower horsepower than competitors, its plenty.

  • Sorry I got this van - 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan

I decided to trade my old van for the 2006 because of the stow n go seats. I am leasing the van with all intentions of keeping the van when the lease is up. I should have kept my old vehicle. I had complained twice about the odor I get when I turn on the defrost or a/c and I have been told there is nothing wrong. I had to have the back a/c unit replaced because of leaking, the part was on back order and had to wait 2 months which was during the hottest time of the season. The motor on the passenger side window had to be replaced, the window would not go up during a rain. Now the left passenger side door will not slide open when I press the button, I have to manually open the door.

  • Disappointed Grand Caravan Owner - 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan

Our first Grand Caravan is a 1999 with 174k miles. Regular maintenance and a few minor issues through the years. But the 2006 model has been a major disappointment. The space and ride are good but we have been told the rack and pinion are shot as well as the power steering pump at 65000 miles. The water pump replaced at 40k and the passenger side sliding door lock broke at 20k. The leather seats are now starting to wear through. Cant wait to get rid of it.
