This Year's Model Updates:

Two new options debut, a power sunroof (that Dodge boasts as one of the largest available in a minivan) and a factory-, not dealer-, installed DVD entertainment system that comes with wireless headphones. Audiophiles will appreciate the CD changer being upgraded from four-disc capacity to six.

Pros:
  • Excellent ride and handling, refined drivetrain, comfortable and luxurious interior.
Cons:
  • No fold-flat third-row seat, unimpressive reliability history, potentially pricey.

  • Best Minivan Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan

To start the whole process, the dealership was great my sales person was wonderful and most of all my new caravan Ex is unbeliveable. Before I had a ford winstar and the grand caravan just blows it away, from its unique look to is great ride and options that I want on my vehicle. I have put on just over 2000 miles in a month and I get good gas milage. If you are in the market for a minivan you have to atleast give dodge a shot I did and I love it!

In July of 2004 I wrote a review with concerns whether Dodge had cured its tranny problems and I was experiencing tranny shudder and slipping into a false neutral. This was at 29,000 miles. At 35,000 I had the fluid changed and then at 44,000 they had to do a major rebuild on the tranny and replace the torque converter, now 14,000 miles later the same problem is here again. Do I attribute this to a lousy transmission that was to be upgraded and now reliable for 2003 or a mechanic that doesnt know what hes doing. They will have to rebuild it again now at 58,000 miles and one wonders if itll be another rebuild just before the warranty expires or do I dump it! Unfortunately, Adios Dodge

Weve had the minivan for 4 months and have put about 3,000 miles on it. Not the slightest hint of a problem. My wife drives it most of the time around town and she loves it. The power doors/liftgate are indispensable. I get to drive the car on the highway and find it smooth and comfortable. Power is fine for us, but we are not aggressive drivers. Gas mileage is about advertised, we get 25 on road trips, but 18 otherwise. We bought the minivan over a sedan mainly for hauling things and its great for that. Its hauled a bulky NordicTrack treadmill and a ton of building/landscaping supplies from Lowes. Much more practical than a SUV.

  • Fun Van to Drive - 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan

We are foster parents and we just got our second child and realized we needed to trade in my wifes Mercury Tracer for a Grand Caravan. So far, we have been very happy with our purchase. This is a sporty looking van and has been very reliable and fun to drive. Im 64" and have plenty of leg and head room. It came with a VCR so we also bought a portable DVD to plug in to it. The kids LOVE to be able to watch movies on long trips. The only complaint that I have is that the gas mileage is pathetic compared to the Odyssey and the Sienna vans. I couldnt fit in those, but Im not disappointed. As a matter of fact, Im looking to trade in my car and get a Caravan also.

  • Not sure all the bugs are worked out - 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan

I have owned this van for 1 year. In the last year, the following items have had to be replaced. Torque converter in transmission, alternator, power steering pump and now another phantom noise from the rear of the van. Also, with the quad seating, it is nearly impossible to get into the rear bench seats. Thank god the warranty is decent, I am sure I will be back the service dept soon.

  • OK For The Money - 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan

Bought used from private party with 36000 miles. Dealer allowed us to purchase extended warranty and its a good thing we did. My wife likes the van more than I but I tend to be more of a details person. For the money its probably the best way to go if you need a mini van. Japanese competitors are much better build and reliability but also twice the dollar. We have had several issues with this van and know the service people well. Steering, Suspension Components, Transmission, Trans cant find the right gear on grades etc. AC was a problem also. GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. Chrysler, no wonder you guys are in trouble. You build self destructing products. Take notes from competitors.

We have a 2001 with only 16000 miles on it and have had nothing but trouble, nothing major yet, but plenty of trips to the dealer. Would not get another Dodge...

  • My Best Car Yet - 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan

This care is smooth driving and easy handling. I have been a Grand Caravan owner since 1989 and this is the best yet.

  • Nice van - 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan

I bought this preowned/certified van from a dealership(in 2007). The van had 49,000 miles on it, The van has been very dependable (so far) with little maintenance. One problem occurred last year with the steering. A constant "whining" noise which was louder during the colder months. Went to a Dodge van "online discussion" and they advised to change the steering fluid reservoir. (it clogs after a while) Did that and NO MORE whining noise. When this one has reached the end of its life I plan on getting another one!
