Overview & Reviews
Dodge brings out the Caravan eL, a value leader that lists for around $24,000. The luxury factor on higher-line trims is boosted with the availability of power adjustable pedals, rear-seat audio with wireless headsets and the coupe de grace: a DVD video system for the rear seat, which also includes wireless headsets.
- Comfy ride, DVD video option, refined drivetrain, impressive handling performance.
- No fold-flat third-row seat, unimpressive reliability history, potentially pricey.

hate it!!!! - 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan
By Brittany - July 30 - 1:42 pmI bought this van 6 months ago and its horrible. I had so many problems and they just keep coming. My ac compressor went out so that cost me $400. It always needs breaks. My left tire sensor is going out and now my computer is going out. Its $4000 just for the computer. One of the power sliding doors broke so I cant use it. The wiring to my signal lights are messed up. When I first got it, I had no problems until 2 days after my warrenty was up. Dodge wont work with me on trying to fix it. To them, nothing major is wrong and told me not to worry so much about it. With 4 kids I need a reliable car and this is NOT it. I regret buying this van.

Very good van - 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan
By idnpeg - July 9 - 10:00 am2002 Grand Caravan Sport. Purchased in Nov 2001, now with 8000+ miles. No problems! Great ride, quiet, smooth, plenty of room. I will admit I feel more secure with the 7/100 warranty they threw in for free. I would have liked to purchase the Honda Odyssey, but I feel very good about the $$$$ I saved. The customer service I got at purchase time was fabulous, and that sealed the deal for me; I worked with the fleet manager. My next door neighbor bought one; and another family friend too. I have heard a rattle or two; under the dash driver side, and back near the rear bench seat; they come and go. But hey, I did not buy a $40,000 luxury car.

Decent at best - 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan
By KMB - March 31 - 10:00 amI purchased my van used with 29,000 miles on it. At first I thought it was great we got a great deal etc... well now every 15,000 mile it needs breaks, acceleraton is slow when the air is on. The tensioner belt has squealed since the 2nd month of ownership, problems with the rack and pinion sterring, had the ac fixed ($1200). Now the transmission is starting to have problems. I call to make an appt and one dealer is a month behind to get it in, another is at least 2 weeks. I will NEVER buy one again. Thinking of buying an Odyssey.

Watch those power doors - 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan
By Karen - November 2 - 11:06 amWe purchased this Dodge Grand Caravan Sport to replace our 10 year old Grand Caravan that died. This is our 3rd one and because of previous problems we also purchased the extended 100,000 mile warranty. I strongly suggest purchasing extended warranties with these vans as they are prone to problems. So why did I buy my 3rd one? Because they are just fun to drive for a mini-van! Just because Im a mom doesnt mean Im dead. Its comfortable, extremely maneuverable, and tows our pop-up camper with ease. The power sliding door was a big problem, however. Never would work when the outside temp was less than 75. This went on for three years! Finally, "uplinking" the computer to a satellite fixed it.

Love to Hate - 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan
By John - October 6 - 7:03 pmWe bought this off the showroom floor with 10 miles on it. It drove very well, but on the drive home we noticed a problem with the back taillight wirering.Fixed. Then, noisy side doors. Road noise is not fun to listen to. After 7 years and 80000 miles not unsatisfied, just a little unhappy what we have to live with. We had a flat and the aluminum rim isnt straight anymore, mileage and a wobble is still a bummer. New waterpump, tuneup, but no major costs. I am noticing a slower startup and going down road the tack jumps, maybe fuel fiter. The plastic is wearing but the seats are still well made, leather. I will look at this each time I buy from now on. Outside paint is still looking good.

Upping the ante - 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan
By mholle - December 19 - 10:00 amValue for the price defines the EX model. Equipped with most features that one wants in a family vehicle, you wont break the bank with this van. The 3.8L engine is smooth and gets up to speed quickly. Having owned 2 other Caravans, Ill wait to give judgement on the transmission. Fit and finish appear good. At times the electric doors are a little finicky about opening and closing. I dont know if it relates to operator or mechanical issues.

I like it! - 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan
By Hikezilla - November 26 - 10:00 amWe needed a new van for upcoming vacation and I had been impressed with a friends Grand Caravan. We didnt want to invest in a new 2003 so we were looking for 2001 or 2002 models with less than 30K miles. This one fit the ticket and had a decent price point.

Its just perfect - 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan
By Shahid - November 12 - 2:00 amIts just perfect, but extended warranty is comparitively higher then other minivans in the market. I felt really bad about that.

LOVING IT!!!!!!!!! - 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan
By t-bird - June 26 - 10:00 amjust purchased and the main selling point to me was the price. got everything I wanted except for the entertainment system (but will be buying that soon) and saved over $8K on a comparable Honda Odyssey. Inside is spacious and with 2 small children, it really helps. i would reccommend this car to anybody!!!!!!!
