  • I think I have a lemon :( - 2014 Toyota Corolla

*Starting the car: You have to have the clutch pushed very hard, all the way to the ground and make sure to hold the button in long enough. My fiance’s car is a 6 speed with a push start and I’ve never had any trouble with his car. I have driven a stick shift for over 15 years. This clutch is very picky and after a lot of time spent stranded, sitting in my car, I have finally realized that I need to ride the clutch, unfortunately. Thats the only way I can get it to get up and go without stalling. Im always super nervous while driving it for this reason and feel unsafe. My fiancé also refuses to drive my car for this reason. *Where is the sound proofing?? When driving in the rain/snow...

  • Corolla LE Plus 2014 windows dont work in cold weather - 2014 Toyota Corolla
    By -

I have had the 2014 Corolla LE plus for less than two weeks. During that time, anytime the temperature drops below 20 degrees F, the front windows wont come down (open) I took it in for service, but everyone in the dealership I spoke with swore up and down that the same happens in cold weather to their front windows, too. I lodged a complaint with Toyota corporate, but they say they cant do anything about it now.

  • 1 Month Review: A Value Proposition - 2014 Toyota Corolla

I chose the Corolla over the 2014 Mazda 3. I have about 600 miles on mine now. In most ways, the Mazda is the better car - better handling, more power, better fuel economy, better build quality. But I dont regret my choice. The Corolla has more interior space, better visibility, and better features for less money, comparably equipped. Noise levels are on-par with the Mazda, but could be better (sadly, not close to the Chevy Cruze). The handling is well improved over previous Toyotas Ive driven, and the seats are supportive and comfortable. Overall this is an easy, economical car to live with and I quite enjoy it.

  • Not all its made out to be. - 2014 Toyota Corolla

My 2014 Corolla has 106,000. miles on it now and other than reliability I have been mostly disappointed with it. Ive always found that the ride to be choppy and harsh. There is a lot of vibration in the steering wheel and the road noise that makes it very tiresome to drive. The seats are comfortable, but because of the low roof-line, I find it very difficult to get in and out without hitting my head on the door frame. The steering is numb and the brakes are mushy. The visibility is poor because of the high dashboard and small windows. Visibility is especially poor at night due to the terrible LED low beam headlights! These headlights cause a sharp cut-off of light above center which is like having a black curtain hanging about two car lengths in front of you. This is especially bad while going down hill which reduces the visible distance to about 1 car length. At times you can literally see pedestrians leg without a hint of their torso. Its almost funny if it werent so dangerous. I hear the low beams cost upwards of a grand to replace too, cant wait for that! The most disappointing thing about the ownership experience of this car has been the paint. Three winters of sanded roads have left the clear-coat paint on the front bumper and hood badly damaged. The black paint is dull and actually looks grey in places. Other cars I have driven under the same conditions have fared much better.

  • Cylinder Head Replaced at 13,500, Probable Factory Milling Issue - 2014 Toyota Corolla
    By -

Bought 2014 LE Eco Plus in September of 2013. At 13,300 miles, Code registered for fuel/air imbalance. Service Bulletin said cylinder head and 4 valves to be replaced under warranty. Major repair for a young car. Very disappointed. Toyota will not at this point extend drive train warranty for free because they have "fixed" it. Other than that, car runs smoothly, nice and heavy for a little car. The gray seat fabric stains very easily, even a wet gym bag or wet work bag if left on the seat too long leave pronounced stain, even with the Stain Guard extra they sell you at time of purchase. This is a hassle, worrying about everything that touches the seats. Average 32MPG.
