  • Lexus it is not!! - 2003 Toyota Corolla
    By -

I have had every type of car you can think of and have been trying to find a new car to replace my wifes Grand Am. We drove the Civic, Focus, Matrix,Protege,Sentra, and the corolla the Focus and the Protege were the only ones that held the road. The corola we drove buzzed terribly, rattles, the build quality was not there at all! On the highway at high speeds (75) was a very nervous feeling. I had a Camry in 93, when they carred about build quality, what happened Toyota. I think they only care about the Lexus line!

  • 2003 LE versus 1993 LE - 2003 Toyota Corolla

I guess I am one of the few who think the interior fake wood trim is gaudy, and the high visibility dash is annoying. I would have considered the CE, but it is not available with cruise control - in spite of the Toyota brochure. Is Toyota is playing marketing games with pricing ? The LE does not come standard with Cruise, yet every LE in my area has Cruise from the factory. Possible gimmick to make the price appear to be less than $ 16,000 ? My 1993 Corolla LE came standard with more options that the 2003 !

  • Loud and missing key options - 2003 Toyota Corolla

I rented on for a week from Hertz. I was among the first people to drive the car as it had less than 1000 miles. First complaint is engine noise. Trying to accelerate to keep up with just Tallahassee traffic was enough to drown out the radio. Second complaint is power locks. This model had keyless, wood trim and a CD player. I could not, for the life of me, find automatic locks inside the car. Either theyre so unituitive I couldnt find them, or they dont include power locks with keyless entry. If the car has power windows, then power locks should be standard. All in all - get the Civic.

  • Poor, Poor Corolla - 2003 Toyota Corolla

I bought a 2003 LE in May 2003 and sold in Feb. 2004. This was one of the worst car buying/ownership experiences of my life. First, the dealership (Planet Toyota) used the "old fashioned" tactics to sell the car-- you know the "let me see what my manager says..." deal. Secondly, the car is not fun to drive, rides poorly, looks like every other car and is not very comfortable. Lastly, the people at Toyota Financial are very unfriendly, rude and elitest--they really need to humble themselves. Luckily I was able to sell it for a good price. I would NEVER buy anything Toyota again. You should look at anything else--DONT BUY A TOYOTA!

  • Thought it was reliable - 2003 Toyota Corolla

I had no trouble with this car and felt it was highly reliable, like the Toyota reputation suggested. I bought the car new and always took car of the maintenance. Then at 59,000 miles, the transmission completely failed. No warning, no symptoms, just stop at a light and when the light turned green, the car would not move. Turned it off and turned it back on, and when I put the car in drive, the car made a horrible grinding sound. Called Toyota and they would do nothing for me. 6/60000 miles was the warranty. Guess they had it figured out just right. Ill never buy a Toyota again.

  • Firestone Tire Recall is Toyotas Fault - 2003 Toyota Corolla
    By -

I was angered to learn today that Toyota installed defective Firestone tires on my new 2003 Corolla LE. I have already filed a complaint with the NHTSA because I must buy replacement tires at my own expense since Toyota insists that I must accept only Firestone replacement tires. This is a load of horse manure. The line supervisors and managers in the Wilson, North Carolina, Firestone manufacturing plant responsible for the Ford/Toyota tire fiascos should be put in jail and never allowed to manufacture tires again. Didnt Toyota learn anything from the Firestone/Ford fiasco? Life is cheap.

  • Eh. - 2003 Toyota Corolla
    By -

I bought the Corolla in April of 2003 to replace my 1997 Geo Prizm. Mechanically, you cant complain about the Corolla. It is a sold contruction and quality materials. As a Toyota, you know it will run forever. And the gas mileage is unbeatable. On the flip side, though, this car is way too tall for its wheelbase. The first time I drove it on a windy day I was unable to stay in my lane. I did not feel safe in the car, which ultimately led me to get rid of it. The engine is kind of pokey, too. I had to floor it getting on the highway. Toyota would be wise to give a bigger engine option and stabilize the car.

  • Wish is car was better - 2003 Toyota Corolla
    By -

The car is good looking. The visibility is a little on the poor side, we remover the rear head rest to inprove the vision out the rear window. The ride is not the best, it is rough and one feels every bump. If I had tested the ride a bit more, I would not have purchased the car. It rides like an old truck. There are also blind spots looking towards the passenger side. A driver must be extra careful. I reduced the tire pressure down from 30psi to 28 to try to help the ride. Not much gained.

  • 2003 Corolla S - 2003 Toyota Corolla
    By -

After 6 months of ownership, I have to say that I am not completely pleased with my 2003 Corolla S. First of all, the gas mileage rating of 31 city/39 highway is greatly over stated. To date, I have averaged only 29mpg. I drive about 60% highway. Also, the drivers seat is very uncomfortable as many others have stated. In addition, the dash buzzes very loudly in 3 different areas. And to buyers of the S version, be prepared to replace the front end ground effects often.
