Slightly disappointed - 2000 Toyota Corolla
By jds2805 - September 5 - 2:22 pmPerhaps I got a dud but I was disappointed. I kept up all maintanence. But at 194k miles the transmission went out, shocks went out, gasket blew and alternator died. 194k miles for a Toyota is to soon for transmission and engine problems. Especially since the early 90s models are going 250k+ miles with no problems. It did get great gas mileage and maintanence was cheap. Id still take Toyota over Ford or Dodge any day.

Toyota Corolla - 2000 Toyota Corolla
By daddemac - April 3 - 2:00 amThis vehicle has gotten me the best gas mileage of any vehicle I have ever owned. Handling and performance for small car with a 1.8 liter engine has really impressed me. I drive this car daily to and from work, which is a 130 mile round trip, and maintain speeds of 75 to 80 mph. The Corolla still gets me between 37 and 40 mpg. What a money savings this car has been especially with the rising gas prises.

This car saved my life! - 2000 Toyota Corolla
By Jason McGovern - January 12 - 2:00 amI had the stripper model. 3 speed transmission, 33mpg hwy. The performance is fairly good, but I would steer away from the 3 speed trans. This car handles very nicely. Im a nutzoid driver who makes the passengers eat the side windows when I take the curves. The ride is fairly quiet and fairly smooth. Reliability is already spoken for and that is, get your basic service, and it will survive a nuclear blast. Not to mention I rolled this car a few times on the fwy going 60, and it held up VERY well. Definitely a safe car to drive. I came out without a SCRATCH.

Couldnt Have Done Better - 2000 Toyota Corolla
By Kate McIntosh - July 22 - 8:46 amThis car is fabulous. If you ever want to know what kind of car to buy, all you have to do is ask a car salesman. Well, I sell cars and this is my car. Its comfortable, the gas mileage is incredible and I know that I wont have any major problem because its a Toyota.

Toyota - beware of their engine problem - 2000 Toyota Corolla
By Ying Li - March 21 - 9:50 pmI used to have great faith on Toyota until I realized my 42 K mile 5 year old toyota has an engine problem that is truly a manufacture defect! I bought it when it was 17 K miles. In May 05, I noticed oil light on and checked there was NO oil left in my engine at all. Immediately I took it to a very good car repair place and changed oil and they did not detect any leak. The assumption then was the previous oil change was not done properly; then 6 weeks later (yesterday) the oil light came back on and same issue - NO OIL in the car. I am not very pleased with the engine problem but it seems to me Toyota wont do anything about it which is unacceptable.

Reliable AND Fun - 2000 Toyota Corolla
By Car Fanatic - March 21 - 10:00 amWith 39K on the odometer, this car is excellent and everything works. Drives like new and the 4-Speed Auto is smooth. The 1.8 VVT-i is peppy and I just by a hair beat a Sunfire GT (2.4?) from a stoplight. Cruise control and AUTO down drivers window are handy features. I do drive fast at times and still get 37MPG. The looks are also nice. I get compliments.
