  • Watch the wind. - 2003 Toyota Corolla

I have owned a Toyota in the past, and felt comfortable buying another, after having owned a 99 Neon. I bought a stylish looking 03 Corolla, and was not disapointed... Until I drove it home. I commute 164 miles a day round trip on a highway that is quite windy year round. I hit a wind gust of about 35 and it blew me a lane over. Holding onto the wheel (which could be a foot closer to the driver) was a white knucled affair. Ordinarily this wouldnt be a problem, but putting 50000 miles a year on it, I need it to feel right. Unfortunately I had to return it and get my old car back. The car is just too tall for its wheelbase.

  • Great gas mileage??? - 2003 Toyota Corolla

I shoulda kept my 1999 solara. V-6, silky smooth, quiet, comfortable. I got 25-28 mpg! This new corolla I have has gotten 29 mpg these first 4 tanks! (all highway miles...no traffic) I shoulda gone for the plush comfort rather than thinking Id save gas!

  • NOT THAT GREAT - 2003 Toyota Corolla
    By -

there is hype about new corolla, it is on higher end for economy car buying. compare to honda civil LX 02 automatic, corolla provieds less useful features. i m most disappointed that it doesnt come with cruise control std. and on top i am paying almost 1000 more new corolla. I just dont get it.

  • Great Value - 2003 Toyota Corolla

Overall, I have been happy with my Corolla. The gas mileage is just fantastic. I have had a few minor quality problems such as the seal around the doors coming loose. It handles well in the snow, but it is a little shaky in windy conditions.

  • Sold on Toyota - 2003 Toyota Corolla

We bought the first year of the current generation of Corollas, which isnt always a good idea. It is our first Toyota, and it wont be our last. In just under four years, we have had NO problems with the Corolla, except replacing the tires after just 20,000 miles. It holds four family members (two teenagers, not children) and all our luggage on our non-camping vacations. Unlike one of the other reviewers, our paint looks great. We may never buy anything but a Toyota again.

  • 03 Corolla LE disappointment - 2003 Toyota Corolla

I know this car is well built but I am a little disappointed. Choice of hp would of been nice; I thought 130hp was enough but I wish I had more. I think the braking needs improvement; after getting the car home I noticed it has drum brakes in the rear ABS in the front. Rear disc brakes would be alot better. I still dont see the rear heat ducts.Maybe in time I will get use to it; if not I know I will still go for another Toyota (known for quality) like a Celica or a Camry.

  • Poor Paint Quality :( - 2003 Toyota Corolla
    By -

Buyers beware. Paint quality on white cars is extremely poor. Paint is so thin and sealed poorly that it actually stains even though waxed! Chips way to easily. It scares me to think what this car will look like in a year. I cannot talk to other colors but I can assure you that you will have paint problems within months of buying a white Corolla.

  • Hopeful but doubting... - 2003 Toyota Corolla

Minor flaws of this car eventually led to a major disappointment. The air button broke and when it was repaired by Toyota, the dash became scratched since it is made from poor quality plastic. The car is ALL over the road on mildly windy days and I am in dire need of ABS that were unobtainable at my time of purchase on any Corolla model in my area. My worst gripe is the foul smell of rotten eggs that has been blowing out of my interior air vents everytime I turn on the heat. This smelly problem has been happenning since 1000 miles. Lastly, my brakes slip constantly at red lights and brief stops. Numberous attempts for redemption by Toyota have failed.

  • CE 5spd - 2003 Toyota Corolla
    By -

I bought this used in Sept. 05 with 50K on it and now have over 114K on it. I havent had a single issue with it. Its not flashy, but with the 5spd its fairly peppy and fun to drive. Surprisingly roomy and easy riding on the highway. 36/38 mpg in the winter 40/42 in the summer, pretty much all highway miles.
