This Year's Model Updates:

The 2000 Toyota Camry sedan receives minor updates. The exterior benefits from new front and rear styling. Camry LE models get 15-inch tires with new wheel covers while the XLE gets standard 16-inch tires. Four-cylinder models make three more horsepower than last year. Interior upgrades include an available JBL premium audio system, automatic climate control, larger buttons on the audio faceplate, imitation wood trim on XLE models, optional leather seats with driver-side power on LE models and new LE model seat fabric. The hood is now supported with struts and dampers.

Pros:
  • Toyota reliability, updated looks, optional V6 power.
Cons:
  • Luxury options quickly jack up price, uncomfortable seats.

  • Great ALL AROUND CAR - 2000 Toyota Camry

I found this car to be great for an average joe. Yes it doesnt do 0-60 in 5 sec, and it doesnt cause head turns, but if you want something to get you from A to B, and have your proud, this is the car. Ergonomically it is ok as well, I have no complaints in that realm. Personally I would get the 6 cyc, the 4 has enough for a single person driver, but if you add on more than 1 more passenger things can feel sluggish.

  • Hard Roads of NYC - 2000 Toyota Camry

I bought my Camry new and have been driving it for 4 years now. I have over 60,000 miles of New York City roads and have had no problems. Regular maintenance and regular gas is all this car needs. I wish it was little bit more exciting looking but the Camry definetly does the job.

  • Great Family Sedan - 2000 Toyota Camry

This car is absolutly wonderful. I bought it in 2000 and all I have done is cnaged the oil. No maintanence needed at all. The care gets over 500 Miles to a tank on the interstate and over 300 / tank in the city. I would buy another one in a heart beat. Shoot I might even trade this one in when the lease is up for a new one. Thanks Toyota.

  • 250,000 miles and going strong - 2000 Toyota Camry

Great reliable car! I have had this car for 17 years and it has had minimal problems, besides the normal wear and tear. Cheap to maintain, but must be kept up to get a fantastic lifespan. The power is not the best, but if you are buying a Toyota sedan you are buying for durability not power. Only problem arising is that I am starting to smell a burnt oil smell. Overall, a great first car with a lot of storage!

  • Family hauler for 13 years, still going strong - 2000 Toyota Camry
    By -

My parents third Camry and our family hauler for 12 years until my dad bought a Honda CR-V last July. Our Camry has been all over Eastern North America including the Maritimes (PEI, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia). I learned how to drive on this car and my mother drove it to work for several years. Never any problems, except a small rattle that started 2 years ago, goes away when the engine warms up. This thing is a tank! It has 144K (about 89,000 American miles I think) and still has tons of life left in it, barely any rust. I drove it to high school and as a high school (university now) student I love it, fantastic first car, will last forever, is a beast in the snow, and reliable as hell.

Toyota means reliability, not flash or gadgets. Do you want a dependable, efficient, safe car or a home entertainment system on wheels with ignition systems that can take your life like GM?

  • Camry V6 LE - 2000 Toyota Camry
    By -

Bought this car new 6 years ago because I loved the lexus ES300 but did not want to pay $35k. Has the same engine and transmission which has been a pleasure to drive. Smooth, powerful, quiet, and very smooth shifts. Every time I drive a rental car, I cant wait to get back in my Camry. The original General tires were garbage. Try a set of Dunlop Sport tires for much better handling and wear. 89k miles now and never, ever a problem. All I do change the oil and do very little scheduled maintenance. Other than some wear on the steering wheel, still runs and looks like brand new. Had an Accord which I drove for 100k miles but this car has been even more reliable.

  • My Toyota - 2000 Toyota Camry
    By -

About two years before retirement I decided to buy a new car and have it paid off before I retired. I had previously owned three Toyotas so I was sold on reliability. Still, I researched the reliability of all cars for about two months, and found the Camry to be the champ. I took another month to select a dealer and options. I finally came up with the "perfect auto". I have just the options I want, and have driven it for six years and four months with no, I repeat, NO problems. I still love my car, my wife doesnt want me to replace it. I dont know that I will, except for another Camry of my choosing.

  • Dont buy the 4 cyl - 2000 Toyota Camry

Dont waste your money on the 4 cyl - buy the V6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Best car for the money by far! - 2000 Toyota Camry
    By -

I have owned 158 cars over the past 14 years. I am an expert on honda, toyota, and nissans. I originally bought a 99 camry and I ended up giving it to my mother. She now has 210K on it and it still drives just like mine with 70K. Through all my experience I have decided that the 2000-2001 toyota camry is the best car for your money. The styling is a bit plain-jane shall we say, but after youve driven one for awhile you get attached because it just feels so damn reliable. These cars are extremely quiet and their road manners have a peaceful, serene feeling like no other car Ive owned. If the timing belt breaks, it wont harm the engine. Im in love with these cars.
