This Year's Model Updates:

The 2000 Toyota Camry sedan receives minor updates. The exterior benefits from new front and rear styling. Camry LE models get 15-inch tires with new wheel covers while the XLE gets standard 16-inch tires. Four-cylinder models make three more horsepower than last year. Interior upgrades include an available JBL premium audio system, automatic climate control, larger buttons on the audio faceplate, imitation wood trim on XLE models, optional leather seats with driver-side power on LE models and new LE model seat fabric. The hood is now supported with struts and dampers.

Pros:
  • Toyota reliability, updated looks, optional V6 power.
Cons:
  • Luxury options quickly jack up price, uncomfortable seats.

Bought this car almost 3 yrs ago Pro: reliable, just needs basic oil change to run smoothly, accelerates smartly for a small-engined car; turns quickly for a mid-sized vehicle; miserly when it comes to fuel consumption Cons: stiff seats, no daytime running lights; OEM tires are horrible; no drivers side lamps; no quick-wiper control; weak lo-beam headlamps - needed to replace bulbs w/ aftermarket PIAAs; added foglamps to improve visibility; replaced OEM tires with Michellin X-One Radials (200/70R-14)

This is my second Camry. The ride is comfortable & the cabin is quiet. Road noise is very minimal. The 4 cylinder engine is surprisingly peppy. Friends/family thought it was a V6 engine. its worth the money that is spent.

  • Not new, but felt new. - 2000 Toyota Camry

I bought mine used, but the ride and handling felt like it was a new car. It accellerates fairly well against other V6s on the rode that are newer. Sharing similar interior and exterior features as the Lexus 300, I feel as if I have a Lexus without the Lexus name. I would recommend a Toyota Camry to anyone who asks.

  • Good Car - 2000 Toyota Camry

My dad passed his 2000 Camry down to me, and the whole time we have owned it there have been no problems outside normal maintenance. It now has 144,000 miles with the 2.2l 4 and runs perfectly, never has issues starting. It gets good mileage even when driven hard. it also has a great interior that still looks like new. The 4 cylinder offers adequate power for most driving but lacks low end and passing power. Also has surprising grip in the snow and though the handling isnt sharp its very safe. Overall its a great car, giving you the reliability and fuel economy of a much smaller car with the comfort of a much larger car.

My Camry has been great! Its extremely quiet, comfortable ride, handles well, but not harsh; Accord is too stiff for me...I take long trips. Initially I was concerned with power, having previously owned an SHO Taurus and a 3.8 Litre Sable, but the little four gets the job done, with no sense of being underpowered. It will run as fast as you want on the E-way, my usual is around 80 mph, and NEVER have a problem keeping it their...itll slide up to 90 if you dont watch it...and still gets 30-31 miles per gallon! With 74,000 miles Ive done nothing but routine maintenance, one change of brake pads about 50,000 miles. My one complaint is with the seats, (front) which arent cushy enough.

Great car, bought it used with 8000 now have 67000 miles on it. Only problem we have is the CD player died and the throttle plate sticks which I need to clean (maintenance issue), solid, solid car

  • Best Value of any Car...Period - 2000 Toyota Camry

I have owned the car for over 5 yrs now and have minimal problems. Purchased car with 22k miles in 2003 and have just put my 2nd set of tires on it (third total set but original Dunlaps were toasted when we bought it). Passenger window is broken, needs new motor. I just also did the front brakes, pads and rotors. New battery a few weeks ago. Other than this, in 5+ yrs, nothing is wron with this car. Nice style and of course, superior toyota quality. This is the BEST CAR VALUE for the MONEY ! I bet with proper maintenence/oil changes, this car would run 300k+ ! If this car fits your budget, buy it, you will not be disappointed!!

  • So far so good - 2000 Toyota Camry

Ive only had this car about a year and a half. So far this car has been great. Only have had one problem which was that I needed to replace the starter at 106,000 miles. The dealer wanted $307 for a new starter. I found a new Bosch starter for $125. I love the V6 engine. Its very quiet and smooth and is a very good highway cruiser. The premium sound system is top notch. My mechanic told me I made a good choice and in his opinion the Camry is one of the best cars built today for the money. Gas millage is what is advertised as long as you dont get into the throttle. Got 27.2 mpg on a trip to Vegas. The large gas tank gives a good range between fill ups.
