This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2006 Toyota Avalon, the availability of stability control has been expanded to include the XL and Touring trim levels. Keyless startup is now standard, rather than optional, on the Limited.

Pros:
  • Carefully constructed cabin worthy of the Lexus name, powerful and fuel-efficient V6 engine, serene ride quality, huge rear seat, numerous upscale amenities.
Cons:
  • Refined nature leaves little room for personality, rear seats do not fold.

  • Great Bang for the Buck! - 2006 Toyota Avalon

Great automobile for the money! The Avalon has many standard features that are extra in comparable models. The gas mileage is excellent. Highway 31+ City & Highway 23-27 MPG. The large car handles well with plenty of room for passengers. The vehicle is definitely worthy of the Lexus name, with the value and dependability of Toyota.

  • Luxury pocket rocket! - 2006 Toyota Avalon

I looked at the Mercedes 300, BMW 5 series, and the Lexus for my next car. I couldnt justify the pricing points of the German ubervehicles with the amentities they offered and, being in the mountains of New Mexico, was uncertain of the service quality I could expect. I looked at the Avalon on the way to the Lexus dealer and that, as the song says, . . .was all she wrote. I chose the Touring model for its firmer ride, larger tires, and different shift points and havent been disappointed. It is simply awesome to take a 35 mph mountain switchback at 60+. And to arrive at your destination without the usual aches, stiffness, and tingling nether regions.

  • Great Car - 2006 Toyota Avalon

We just returned from a round trip from Kentucky to Sun City, Az. The car was loaded heavily for our three month stay. The overall mileage going and coming was 29.96 mpg. We have been Lincoln Town Car owners for years and the seats of the Avalon fit our bodies better than the Lincolns.

  • Loss of engine oil - 2006 Toyota Avalon

Same thing happened to my Avalon . No light no warning. Dealer said just made it in before the engine went. Happened to our friend with the same car. Do not understand why Toyota has not done a recall if this is happening with a lot of Avalons. Took almost three weeks for parts to come in. But the gave us a loner car. Love the car this is our first Avalon and will not be our last.

  • A GREAT car! With so much too offer! - 2006 Toyota Avalon

I have said for a long time that this is a great car on so many levels. Its a 5 star car with one bad star which is not its fault. Technology. This car was built in late 2005 as a 2006 Avalon XLS. This was before car interior technology has blossomed into what it has become today. So its missing Bluetooth, USB ports and NAV. But for those that remember tape cassettes, CD player and great sound this car rules. This car rules in many other ways too. Spacious interior design. So much so that you can have 5 large adults seated in the car. Both front seat pushed all the way back and those seated in the back will still have ample leg room. And the back seats tilt backward giving those adults a limo like ride. Excellent MPG for such a big car. I regularly get 31 MPG on the highway. The only vehicles that get better gas mileage are hybrids! This Avalon has stayed in great shape and Toyota has maintained it wonderfully. I think the car will run forever!

  • Best Avalon yet - 2006 Toyota Avalon

I started buying Avalons in 1995 and this is my 5th one. It is by far the best in amenities, performance, design and fuel economy. The things I would have improved on, from the past models, they addressed and more. I am extremely pleased in every way.

  • Better than expected - 2006 Toyota Avalon

Mileage average is 27 GPM. Seats are very good, material has traction to keep the posture. Engines power is amazing. Gearbox shifts real smoothly and accurately. Toyotas quality follow-up is very strong, I know that they will make sure I stay happy with Avalon.

  • Traded a Volvo S-80 T-6 for the Avalon - 2006 Toyota Avalon
    By -

My wife and I absolutly love this car. We traded a top of the line Volvo S-80 T-6 and do not regret it a bit. I/we cant say enough about the car. It rides great, handles well and is ALMOST as quick/fast as the twin-turboed S-80. the 12-speaker sound system is far better than that of the Volvo. Simply a great car!

  • Best in its price range ! - 2006 Toyota Avalon
    By -

We purchased the limited edition and really love all the bells and whistles that Toyota puts in the car. The ride is very nice . Not as quiet as Lexus but pretty good. Very powerful engine that really delivers when you ask it to. The interior is by far the largest in its class. The back seat room is incredible! This is our second Toyota and will not be the last.

  • Dream on wheels - 2006 Toyota Avalon
    By -

Ive been reading consumer and auto magazines for close to a year and finally splurged. The Avalon Ltd. is close to the Lexus with about $5,000 savings in your pocket. Everything was standard. Ride incredable, reclining back seats, more gadgets than you can imagine, all with Toyota reliability. Used prices are actually more than the cost new from the dealer. Mileage 29-31 400+ miles between refills.
