This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2006 Toyota Avalon, the availability of stability control has been expanded to include the XL and Touring trim levels. Keyless startup is now standard, rather than optional, on the Limited.

Pros:
  • Carefully constructed cabin worthy of the Lexus name, powerful and fuel-efficient V6 engine, serene ride quality, huge rear seat, numerous upscale amenities.
Cons:
  • Refined nature leaves little room for personality, rear seats do not fold.

  • A KILLER CAR - 2006 Toyota Avalon

Just picked up my new Limited 4 days ago. This is my third Avalon. I tooled around with getting the ES 330 and the IS 350, but this car really has got the room and ride without spending the money on a LS430 to get it. Gorgeous interior design and fit and finish. My friends who are seeing it are flipping out!!!!A lot of value for the money.

This is a wonderful car for either a single person or a family. Very roomy and has a lot of space to work with.

  • Great Car Until I Lost All of My Oil - 2006 Toyota Avalon
    By -

The engine oil line (rubber hose) ruptured unexpectedly. I lost all of my oil. The mechanic is hopeful that the engine wasnt damaged. However, this is something that should never happen to a modern car. Toyota may be the new GM/Chrysler. Reliability sells. Unreliability gets you out of the auto business.

Went from a Camry to Avalon. I loved the Camry but wont go back now. Very happy. Avalon is so much bigger, drives like a dream. A real luxury car.

  • Very disappointed in quality and cost - 2006 Toyota Avalon

This model year must have been the peak of Toyotas lack of attention to quality. The engine oil issue is a complete quality AND customer service fail. After suffering through that, in the last month Ive had to replace the entire AC system. Last year when the car was 4 y/o with 100k miles the AC started blowing warm. Dealer did not find leaks, recharged, and it was ok for the rest of summer/fall. This spring, same thing. This time dealer found "lots of pin holes in the condenser". Read: no trauma, just a quality fail. Ive never seen this and my prior cars were all over 200k miles. Now, *perhaps* a result of the condenser fail, the compressor seized. Total bill to fix AC: $2500

  • My XLS - 2006 Toyota Avalon

This has been the best auto that I have ever had the pleasure to drive. The quality throughout is evident from the moment you get into the car until you arrive at your destination. I have recommended this style & make to all my friends.

  • Best Toyota that I have owned - 2006 Toyota Avalon
    By -

This is my 8th Toyota and 2nd Avalon (last in 1996). Liked the way the car "sat". Like the comfort and interior "bells and whistles". I have never had a Toyota in during the initial warranty period. Luck I guess. I dont like the transmission trying to find the right gear at slow speeds, sometimes causing abruptness in the change of gears. Perhaps this is the nature of the beast with 5 forward. Everything else is absolutely first rate. Best Toyota yet!!!

  • Raymond Avalon I love it! - 2006 Toyota Avalon

Of all the vehicles Ive ever owned I have enjoyed the Avalon Limited the best. Its comfortable, classy, and has all of the features I most enjoy in an automobile. I particularly enjoy the GPS tremendously.

  • Too Loud...Too Much Wind Noise - 2006 Toyota Avalon
    By -

This car has a lot of wind whistles and noises at highway speed. I live outside of Los Angeles and you have to drive fast to stay up with traffic, and it is often windy in the passes. This Avalon is very loud inside at those speed. I dont like it. My 2002 LeSabre was much quieter at highway speeds. The engine has good power, but I have found the car has trouble finding the right gear. It sometimes jerks when I push on the gas. I am less than pleased with this car, my first Toyota.
