Overview & Reviews
For the 2006 Toyota Avalon, the availability of stability control has been expanded to include the XL and Touring trim levels. Keyless startup is now standard, rather than optional, on the Limited.
- Carefully constructed cabin worthy of the Lexus name, powerful and fuel-efficient V6 engine, serene ride quality, huge rear seat, numerous upscale amenities.
- Refined nature leaves little room for personality, rear seats do not fold.

Large sedan, fast and reliable! Excellent MPG! - 2006 Toyota Avalon
By Cole - August 27 - 10:19 pmI am 20 years old and this is my 12th car (im an addict). No my parents dont give me ANY money. Anyway! I was lucky enough to score one of these for a few thousand cheaper than its value. And so far, its been excellent! I got the limited model loaded with everything. White exterior with tan interior. I did notice while doing an oil change it takes quite a bit of oil, 6.4 quarts to be exact! Mileage for this massive sedan Im able to get average 32-33.5 on the highway going 72. That is unheard-of for its size! Ive gotten up to 400 out of a tank with city AND highway driving, and to fill up only costs about $35, about 14.5 gallons, (even though it has an 18.5 gallon tank)! Ive put in pioneers latest avic-7000nex navigation touchscreen stereo and it fit perfect, all functions still work! The only problem ive had was engine code p0441 and p0455, if you get these codes replace the fuel cap and that should fix it! (It will also turn on VSC and I think ABS light. There is a problem on 05-12 (dont quote me) avalons where the fuel cap wears out. I paid 6,700 and it only has 108k miles and its in excellent shape! It shifts buttery smooth and the amount of power it has (280hp) will compete with any other (ricer) or sedan out there. I love the smart-key feature. I would buy again.

Would buy another - 2006 Toyota Avalon
By zipcode21804 - July 17 - 4:13 amTraded my 2003 Seville, not disappointed at all. The gas mileage is great on regular gas. Nav system leaves a little to be desired, that message gets on your nerves every time you start the vehicle. Should be easier to program. Sound is good JBL did a fine job although I did a personal upgrade surround sound is a great feature, Cabin is tight noise and rattle free. I bought 3 caddys before I purchased my Avalon. When it comes to comfort, its a no brainer. Avalon wins; wheels down.

Avalon Right On - 2006 Toyota Avalon
By Willam Boyd - July 12 - 2:20 pmThe Avalon has proven to be a well engineered sedan. Fit and finish are excellent. I get 29 to 31 mpg on the highway and 21 to 23 mpg in city/ suburban driving. The ride is firm yet bumps are not transmitted to the passengers. All controls are well thought-out. I am especially pleased with the navagation system. Toyota is right on with this excellent car. The transmission and engine provide a smooth flow of power under all conditions.

Perfection - 2006 Toyota Avalon
By Jim - June 29 - 5:16 pmAs a Toyota owner since 1974, I was amazed at the level of perfection achieved in the 2006 Avalon Limited! I have always been sold on the quality, reliability, and attention to detail that Toyota has always put into their cars (I have owned Celicas, Camrys, and Avalons). But this 2006 Avalon Limited EXCEEDS the perfection that Toyota has always put in their Lexuses! It is truly an amazing machine in every respect! The Laser-Guided Cruise Control is a pleasure to use and probably the greatest safety feature invented to date! The GPS-Guided Navigation System is always "right-on"! I would recommend the 2006 Avalon Limited to EVERYONE!!

Great Mileage, Comfort & Performance - 2006 Toyota Avalon
By tap777 - June 26 - 8:56 pmI went to the local dealership to buy the new 2007 Camry. However, they would not discount the car and they were offering $5k off on the 2006 Avalon. I test drove all versions of the Camry, and am replacing a 2001 Maxima SE. THIS CAR IS SO MUCH BETTER! I commute 120 miles a day. The car is very comfortable, has plenty of power and I am AVERAGING 26 MPG (75% hwy & 25% city). I have been as high as 28.5 on the highway. I also noticed that it is much quieter inside. I heard the GPS was not good so I purchased a car without it.

great car but engine questions - 2006 Toyota Avalon
By edmundscars5 - June 26 - 9:51 amEngine is the only questions. 60,000 miles and a valve spring busted. this was in 2012 and cost $3,400 to fix. Now in December 2014 with 81,000 miles its a leak in the timing cover, the oil pan, and the rack and pinion. Estimate cost to all is about $3,580. At some point you lose trust in a car. Everything else about the car has been great.

My Avalon - Best car Ive ever owned - 2006 Toyota Avalon
By RICHARD - June 22 - 11:50 pmWe are very pleased with the car. The Avalon is definitely a "geezer" car, but thats okay since we geezers have more sense about the important aspects of car ownership. The interior is about as roomy as a large car and just as comfortable. The cars engine is quite responsive and quiet and economical to run. I would recommend the car to anyone looking for a car of this variety.
