This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2006 Toyota Avalon, the availability of stability control has been expanded to include the XL and Touring trim levels. Keyless startup is now standard, rather than optional, on the Limited.

Pros:
  • Carefully constructed cabin worthy of the Lexus name, powerful and fuel-efficient V6 engine, serene ride quality, huge rear seat, numerous upscale amenities.
Cons:
  • Refined nature leaves little room for personality, rear seats do not fold.

  • Motor mounts broke - 2006 Toyota Avalon

My mechanic said the motor mounts broke on my new Avalon last week. The car shook terrible and then wouldnt drive. It is still in the shop. Im very unhappy with this car. Consumer Reports says Toyotas dont break down. Are they kidding? The paint on this car is almost as sad as the motor. It is very easy to scratch off on the front.

  • the best car I have ever owned! - 2006 Toyota Avalon

I purchased this car after reading Edmonds reviews and looking at the car in a car dealer. I used to drive Toyota and the last car I had was Mercedes. I have seen some poor ratings of Avalon in Edmonds but I have not seen any problems with my Avalon. The mileage of the car is currently 1400 ml. I love the smooth and quiet riding with a lot of extra HP.

Did some serious research before making my purchase. No other automaker will give you as many options and value as the new Avalon Limited. Vented seats, Nav., laser cruise, reclining rear seats, keyless entry & start. The HID headlights and advanced airbag system is a standard safety feature. The craftmanship of the Avalons interior is very refined & luxurious. Gas mileage, handling and acceleration is excellent. Satellite radio to go along with the 360 watt JBL Audio System is a must. This new Avalon is fast and smooth. But easy-up on the seq. manual gear shifts, and just step on the gas with the auto shift.

  • Cracks in Dash - 2006 Toyota Avalon

I am very disappointed in the dash on my 2006 Avalon. It has started to have hairline cracks everywhere. The car has 68000 miles and has always been garage kept. I went on the internet and found that many people have had the same problem. Toyota refuses to acknowledge the defect. I think that people should be made aware that this happens.

  • Great Luxury Car at a Reasonable Price - 2006 Toyota Avalon

My new 2006 XLS drives much smoother and has a great overall feel compared to my prevous 2001 Avalon and all the other competitors that I tested in its class. The 2006 also seems much roomier, especially in the back seats. Gas mileage is exceptional for a car with its size and accelaration.

  • Great Car - Very Happy Big Guy - 2006 Toyota Avalon

Ive put over 12,000 miles on my new 06 XLS since Feb 1, and I couldnt be happier. Great ride, performance and mileage have made this the BEST car Ive ever owned. I believe this car is the best value on the road. Luxury amenities and ride for a modest price. Im 63", and can sit comfortably in rear seats with the front seats fully back. Short drives around town or long road trips, my Avalon makes driving a pleasure. One warning! It drives so well and cruises so smoothly, I got the first speeding ticket Ive had in 26 years (72 in a 55). It felt like I was going 60. The policeman, while giving me the ticket, commented on how much he liked my ride! Buy this car & enjoy!

  • Whats up with the noise? - 2006 Toyota Avalon
    By -

This car rattled when I bought it. Five attempts to fix the headliner rattle and it still rattles. This makes me suspicious of Toyota quality in the Avalon. The car has developed other squeaks and noises too. This is my first new Toyota and I expected more. On the positive side, I love the comfort and performance. I will try another one if Toyota will take this one back.

  • Best bang for your buck - 2006 Toyota Avalon

I traded in a 03 Mercedes Benz for this car. This car has more room, more options, better gas mileage and it cost less that the Mercedes. You simply get more car for the money.

  • Best car for the money!!! - 2006 Toyota Avalon

This car rides better than a cadillac. It has more room than most living rooms. Luxury is everywhere, but the cost is very reasonable. This is a must have car for those that want toyotas reliability, great looks, and a ride to kill for. The sound system is mind blowing with 12 speakers and base to die for. Best car I have ever owned!

  • My new Toyota XLS - 2006 Toyota Avalon

This is my first Toyota. All my previous auto were Oldsmobiles, but since they have dropped family sedans I was searching for a quality replacement. I have found it!. This car exceeds my every wish for a family car. Safety of passengers is outstanding. Quality of workmanship is apparent throughout the vehicle. Ease of operation from the drivers side with all the essential controls readily available, and easy to find. Truly a great car.
