This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2006 Toyota Avalon, the availability of stability control has been expanded to include the XL and Touring trim levels. Keyless startup is now standard, rather than optional, on the Limited.

Pros:
  • Carefully constructed cabin worthy of the Lexus name, powerful and fuel-efficient V6 engine, serene ride quality, huge rear seat, numerous upscale amenities.
Cons:
  • Refined nature leaves little room for personality, rear seats do not fold.

Nice performing/handling vehicle. Zero to 60 in 6.1 seconds with good city mileage of 19.5 mpg. Nice design from rear, but front end is pretty blah.

  • A Great Car - 2006 Toyota Avalon

We turned over our 2001 Avalon to our daughter. The faith in the quality of the car gives us the comfort level for her to have the car for what should be 3 or 4 more years. The purchase of the the 2006 model was a step up in luxury from the older model. The driving experience is a pleasure. I would recommend this car to anyone.

  • Excellent value - 2006 Toyota Avalon

Although its too new to us to enable a reliability review, Im expecting a "9". It came with a malfunctioning laser cruise which was repaired no charge. Excellent, comfortable highway cruiser, efficient, roomy, powerful, and luxurious. The nav is much better than in our BMW. Radio is excellent if not audiophile quality. Body design is much improved over the prior model. Moonroof open is quiet and doesnt overventilate. Oversteers (as do FWD cars) and particularly so in the wet. Its a cruiser, not a sports sedan. It could use a backup camera. Seats are comfortable but could use better bolstering. Flat rear floor is excellent. Some more trunk space and some less rear legroom.

I had my Avalon over a year and it has been the best vehicle I have owned during the past forty-five years. Great ride and power when one needs it. I have not had one problem with this car. My friends whom ride in my car loves it. Lots of room in the back seat for legs. You wont go wrong buying a Toyota Avalon. We love it!

This was our 1st Avalon and 13th Toyota. From the day I first saw one in a parking lot, I was impressed with the design and presentation of the car. I am very particular and this car replaced my 1997 Volvo Wagon. The car is sweet to drive, quite, smooth, and power when you need it. I test drove a Lexus, but could not justify the high cost compared to the Avalon. The Blizzard Pearl is a stunning color. I also like the navigation system. I am a computer forensic examiner and have read many complaints about the entry control feature; I found it seamless and pretty easy to use. The car is elegant with a sporty flair that draws attention. The exterior design is beautiful.

Believe it or not, traded a Prius for the Avalon due to long drives and increased comfort. It drives like a dream compared to the Prius. Also had a G35, and like this one much better. Think the interior could be quieter, but havent found a car yet that was as quiet as I thought it should be. Compared to every other car in the price range and several more expensive and this is the only one that had all the features that I was seeking. Also got the Special Edition Package and looks much more sporty.

  • Great car, terrible navigation system - 2006 Toyota Avalon

Have had no problems with vehicle maintenance, the reliability has been very good. Average fuel mileage (regular gas) 27 mpg, the ride is comfortable with in-seat heat/cooling. Overall the vehicle has been great. The navigation system is a loser, very difficult to program and gives erroneous directions in congested areas. Save the $1900 and purchase a reliable portable GPS at a fraction of the price.

From the very beginning I have enjoyed driving this car. The ride is as good as the Cadillac I traded in on this Avalon. I havent taken it on an extended road trip but look forward to doing so this summer.

  • I swear I thought it was a lexus!!!!! - 2006 Toyota Avalon

If you want to have a luxury mid size sedan but does not want to spend tons of money then the Avalon is the best one for you. I was debating on either this car or the lexus ES. I cant seem to justify spending thousand$ more just to have the Lexus badge on my car. The Avalon has more features , better and stonger engine, better looks. In fact the Avalons ride is a lot better (go test drive it and you will know what Im talking about). The interior on this car is huge. I mean its almost as big as the Lexus LS. Toyota has done a really great job on this car. So if you not sure still, please take my advice, test drive it!!!
