For the 2006 Toyota Avalon, the availability of stability control has been expanded to include the XL and Touring trim levels. Keyless startup is now standard, rather than optional, on the Limited.

Pros:
  • Carefully constructed cabin worthy of the Lexus name, powerful and fuel-efficient V6 engine, serene ride quality, huge rear seat, numerous upscale amenities.
Cons:
  • Refined nature leaves little room for personality, rear seats do not fold.

  • Avalon heaven! - 2006 Toyota Avalon

First-time Toyota purchaser, cant say Ive regretted it one bit. The Avalon surpasses the previous cars Ive owned by light years in build, design, features and most importantly, quality for the money. The ride is smooth, yet firm. The detail to quality on the interior as well as the exterior is obvious. No cheap plastic parts that break off w/ lots of use. The 268 hp V-6 engine performs well, but does have a sluggish response occasionally in low gear. The styling is gorgeous inside and out. My husband is 64" and this car suits him well. The rear legroom is also a plus for passengers.

I have owned BMWs, Mercedes, VWs and Hondas. This car far surpasses them all in value.

What a machine---lets see, faster than a BMW, quieter than a church, built like a tank, 30 MPG, sofa like seats, more electronic toys than the Johnson Space Center, heated and cooled seats, Carnegie Hall stereo and it costs less than lesser equipped sport sedans. Im 62 and in my youth again driving this car -- see ya at the stoplight -- then you can watch my taillights!! People cant believe its a Toyota -- what an improvement over the old Avalon -- or the over priced Camry in feathers. No Camry here -- this is a WINNER!! Check it out -- youll be impressed!!

  • Holy Moly: Headlights! - 2006 Toyota Avalon

I have an 05 Avalon that I bought (traded in my 01 Avy) and Im less than thrilled. The thing has had some some problems that the dealer cant seem to fix: groans, engine hesitation, rattles. My mileage is much worse than my old Avalon. I like the new power but, come on, Im 58 years old! I dont race. I wish you could get a smaller more efficient motor. But heres the big bummer. I hit a deer one morning two weeks ago. I have the HID lights. One headlight was broken. The headlight cost close to $1,000!!!! My insurance company picked up half the tab (I have a 500 deductable) but oh my, I dont look forward to replacing these lights in the future when they burn out -- or I hit another deer.

I am impressed with my 2006 Limited. I especially like the effortless ride, bright lights, and power that the car delivers while getting 30 miles to a gallon on the highway.

  • Very disappointing - 2006 Toyota Avalon

My car (4,000 miles) has MAJOR paint issues, plus electronic problems, plus a rattle in the suspension that the mechanics cant locate. Oh, and it only gets about 21 mpg, even with easy driving. The paint is very worrisome. It chips off the front very easily. I look like I was sprayed with rocks (even though I wasnt) My daughter calls the car chippy. I dont think its funny

  • Tire Pressure - 2006 Toyota Avalon
    By -

Sir/Maam: I already did a review-- "Why Look Elsewhere" on 1/27/06. Im even more impressed with the Avalon Limited now than I was at first. What Id like to tell current owners and prospective owners is: DO NOT go by the tire pressure on the info plate on the car. I have Michelin 215/55/17 tires and the car info plate calls for 32 lbs---checked with a Michelin dealer and he said that the "CORRECT" pressure should be 40 lbs in these low profile tires. Too low tire pressure causes premature wear. So, no matter what brand tires you have--check with a reputable tire dealer to ensure you have the correct tire pressure. I hope this helps. Bob

  • Perfection - 2006 Toyota Avalon

We have been Toyota owners for 32 years and this new Avalon Limited is without a doubt the finest car they have ever built. We shopped all other brands (American & foreign), comparing the quality of workmanship, power, handling, features, and overall "feel" before settling again on the Avalon. It was the only car to satisfy and exceed expectations on all levels and exude a feeling of total reliability.

Two trips to Las Vegas and back, did not suffer from driver fatigue nearly as bad as the last car that I owned. The car actually got 31.1 m.p.g. at the speed of 82 m.p.h. with a slight tail wind. Very stable passing tractor trailers. The electric seats adjust to fit your favorite position. The stereo system is really killer great. Minimal wind noise, some road noise. Lots of people wanted to know more about it. I burned 87 octane gas. When you burn gasohol, you get fewer m.p.g., but you keep our dependence on foreign oil down. I, personally do not want to go back to Iraq. The other boys I work with like it and want to drive it. My wife likes it, too. Although it is lacking on trunk space.
