This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2006 Toyota Avalon, the availability of stability control has been expanded to include the XL and Touring trim levels. Keyless startup is now standard, rather than optional, on the Limited.

Pros:
  • Carefully constructed cabin worthy of the Lexus name, powerful and fuel-efficient V6 engine, serene ride quality, huge rear seat, numerous upscale amenities.
Cons:
  • Refined nature leaves little room for personality, rear seats do not fold.

  • Perfection - 2006 Toyota Avalon

We have been Toyota owners for 32 years and this new Avalon Limited is without a doubt the finest car they have ever built. We shopped all other brands (American & foreign), comparing the quality of workmanship, power, handling, features, and overall "feel" before settling again on the Avalon. It was the only car to satisfy and exceed expectations on all levels and exude a feeling of total reliability.

Two trips to Las Vegas and back, did not suffer from driver fatigue nearly as bad as the last car that I owned. The car actually got 31.1 m.p.g. at the speed of 82 m.p.h. with a slight tail wind. Very stable passing tractor trailers. The electric seats adjust to fit your favorite position. The stereo system is really killer great. Minimal wind noise, some road noise. Lots of people wanted to know more about it. I burned 87 octane gas. When you burn gasohol, you get fewer m.p.g., but you keep our dependence on foreign oil down. I, personally do not want to go back to Iraq. The other boys I work with like it and want to drive it. My wife likes it, too. Although it is lacking on trunk space.

  • May be the best sedan for the price . . - 2006 Toyota Avalon

Though other automakers may offer a model that beats the Avalon in one or two areas, taken as a whole, factoring in power, ergonomics, features, build quality, reputation for reliability, and fuel economy, this may well be the BEST 4-door sedan under $35,000 on the market. (A Lexus 430 is better, but though it’s pushing twice the price it’s not nearly twice the car.) As to my actual experience, there was a little “jerkiness” in the shifting initially, but by 1500 miles it had smoothed out to near CVT levels. I’m getting 25+ mpg on regular gas in what I’d term “hill country suburban” driving, excellent for a sedan with performance rivaling what passed for a “muscle car” in the late ‘70s.

  • Great car - 2006 Toyota Avalon

This vehicle drives like a dream. I found it to be a superior ride to the Lexus ES 330. Features abound for the money. Just wish the cooled leather seats had come with this model as the weather here is extremely humid. Though the Limited model had this feature, it was a little too expensive as outfitted and had a number of features I personally did not require.

  • I love this car!! - 2006 Toyota Avalon

This is a great car for the price. Lexus quality for Toyota price. Would recommend this car to anyone. I have three small children (all under 7) and two are in full sized carseats. My youngest cant even kick the back of my seat while strapped in. Huge back seat and great trunk space. Full sized double stroller along with groceries fit just fine. And what can I say, it has Toyota mileage averaging 22 in the city and 33 on the interstate. Classy interior and a trustworthy ride, I would recommend this car to my best of friends.

Why buy a Lexus? I couldnt be more pleased! It is the perfect cruiser for a big guy and his passengers. Im so glad I took the time to do the research to pick this car.

  • Broken Front Coil Spring - 2006 Toyota Avalon
    By -

My 2006 Avalon hit a small dip in the road and the right front coil spring snapped (thankfully at the very bottom) . I removed the broken part and was disappointed to find out it is a very light weight spring and looks like & feels like it was made out of pot metal. And my Platinum Extended Warranty (that I never used and cost me an extra 1K) is over the time limit. Car has 94K and we bought it new. As far as Toyota Service goes they have been a disappointment , they try and get a person to have expensive un-needed work done on their vehicles . I will call Toyota in the A:M and plead my case. Anyone else have this happen? if not beware these coil springs are junk.

Ive traded my 2003 Nissan Murano AWD and thanks to the Avalon, the transition was smooth. My peers enjoy the riding comfort and options you get for the price.
